I just read some of the Animal Kingdom/FLOP thread and it got me thinking.
As much as I love the attractions I can be happy just taking in everything in a lot of different places in the World-
Standing in the Hub near the Walt/Mickey statue
Having a cold drink in the lobby at the Contemporary
Riding the Monorail or Ferryboat
Wandering around AK or World Showcase or down Main Street
Walking thru the turnstiles at MK and coming out of the tunnel to start a great day
Listening to the background music everywhere you go

Just BEING there is a great thing, IMO.

I agree. Some get so focused on rope drops and running for fastpasses that they get tunnelvision and don't see what's there.

:thumbsup2 from us too. That's why we go so often. We enjoy just walking around, having a snack or drink, watching all the crazy people :rotfl:

I agree it is just being there... taking in the atmosphere..

Yah we go at Rope drop one or two days of our trip, and plan out dinners.. but other than that we enjoy being in da house of da mouse :)

I have always wanted to take a day, be in the parks, but skip rides and simply roam around enjoying the atmosphere and people watch. I think I'll have to do a solo trip to get to do this though.

There's nothing better than strolling around Main Street listening to the sound clips from all the various windows and seeing the names of great imagineers printed above you.

I totally agree! We were there last week and we didn't do near what most people would be doing if they were on vacation in WDW. The weather was cold and we didn't want to bother with some of the rider swaps because we didn't want to inconvenience our guests, but we still enjoyed some attractions, walking around listening to the music throughout the parks, having a beer here or there and sitting in various spots eating a churro with our little one. It's just fun to hang out and take it all in too. We've been there enough times and we're DVC members so while we enjoy planning, we don't stick to a major plan and we just enjoy being there. At one point when it rained, I had to buy an umbrella, and I'm sure people thought I was nuts as I skipped through the street at DHS humming Singing In The Rain! I KNOW they did, you should have seen the look on some of their faces!

i agree! wish i could move there just so i can drive the family up there anyday of the week, just to relax

Totally agree :goodvibes

I really miss the park benches they used to have directly in front of the castle (back when they had trees in the hub) I used to sit on the bench and close my eyes to take in the sounds, and when I opened them to see the castle before me was like a dream :cloud9:

I was just thinking the EXACT same thing. I would love to just go and leisurely stroll around, still ride some rides, but just look at all the cool things in the World Showcase I don't get to see normally, look at the little shops, etc. I really am thinking of taking a 3 day weekend by myself soon. I found really cheap airfare and may just do it!

I feel really bad sometimes for people who rush from one attraction to the next with tunnel vision and get all stressed out and tired, and they miss the cool magical things that make the parks special!

I am so spoiled--I would really miss my annual pass if I ever move away! I love to go on a Sunday afternoon and not do anything but people-watch and eat Dole Whip :cloud9: It is so relaxing, like you said, just being there.

i agree 100%. when we go for long trips there is nothing better than wondering around and looking at all the detail disney puts into everything. one night i was walking down main street and all of a sudden i said to ash that i never noticed how amazing it was. we sat and ate an ice cream and people watched for like an hour. how can you walk past somthing so grand and take it for granted like that lol.

I agree. I love the music in Future World at Epcot. There's a video on youtube of the Epcot music and I often listen to it while I'm on the computer...and just dream of being in WDW. :music:

When I'm tired at WDW, I love to hop on the TTA and just take in the sights.

Ah Disney World... what can I say?
I miss you so when I'm so far away...
I always try to go for a full week. Because I don't want to be rushing around all over the place from attraction to attraction. I want to be able to stroll around, grab a snack and watch the people. Nothing like seeing the reaction a child has when they are standing in front of their favorite character for the first time! Even if they're not my child (don't have any)! It's just a magical moment.
:cloud9:

Because we have had APs for the last 2 years and live 90 minutes away we (DH and I) have found there is no pressure anymore to do anything we don’t want to do or rush to do things. We sleep in, get to the parks around 11:00 ride what we can, eat when we want, look in shops for nothing at all. If it is an especially busy day we may not go on any rides, but it’s okay. We may go back at night and go on some. We just walk at our own pace, take pictures and enjoy just being at WDW.

I love walking into the Magic Kingdom and smelling all the smells...popcorn, cookies...mmmmmm...it always makes me want to eat!

I could go to WDW never ride a thing and be perfectly happy just BEING there. The sites and the sounds are all one big attraction to me:love::love::love:

yes I agree!!! Favorite places to just take in the sights for me is MK (most anywhere...but I love sitting on the 2nd floor of the train station on Main Street USA and taking in the view!), EPCOT Center (most anywhere), etc.... but my list includes three places that never seem to be on a list such as this: Grand Concourse at the Contemporary Resort, Hospitality House at Old Key West...and lastly, sitting on the Boardwalk!
