We are doing the EBTA and the 1st Med....some ports we will do on our own, and some we have excursions planned for. So far we have planned:

Valleta, Malta-Blue Grotto Boat Trip and Fishing Village (MT10 BLUEGROTTO)

Tunis, Tunisia-Panoramic Tunis (TU04 PANTUNIS)

Civitavecchia, Italy-Jumping Back into Eternal Rome (CV20 ETERNALRM)

EBTA:

Cadiz, Spain-Seville On Your Own (CD07 SEVILLAOWN)

ETA we are definitely doing "self-tours" in places like Naples, Villefranche and Gibraltar. We'll likely get off the ship and poke around in the other ports also. With 6 people in our family doing the Disney tours can get insanely expensive rather quickly. Thankfully since we booked early we got $600 in onboard credit which helps take some of the sting out of the cost of the tours.

I've booked with Pleasant travel (Mariano Fiorentino). Of all of the emails that I exchanged with tour operators - my DH and I felt that he seemed the most personable. Hard to tell from an email - but he gave us good "vibes" :goodvibes Here's a link to his website www.pleasanttravel.com He also had good reviews on tripadvisor

Good luck! :thumbsup2

A word to the wise, do not go to Capri from Naples.

I posted this in 2007, after staying in Sorrento a few years earlier.

When I was on the Magic in 2007 in Sorrento in the afternoon, after people had been, and after the day in Naples on ship, I had so many people say to me, wish I had listened to you.

The island is ok, but the boats there and back...........:scared1:

What about if you're going to Capri from Sorrento? Is that just as bad? The ABD for that day goes to Sorrento, then to Capri...

And are we talking seasick or something else?

Any route on the triangle of Naples, Capri, and Sorrento, poor quality boats, rough, seasickness, bad sanitation.

Wow. That's surprising that ABD would go with something like that! I guess it's the patch for me! How long is the trip to Capri?

To be honest as its over three years now cant remember the journey, I think its the longest 30>45 mins of anyone's life. I did it once, not to be repeated.

We are doing the BTB cruises. For the Med part we are doing a private van tour with three other couples in Malta, Naples and France. In Corsica weare doing Corte-Tunisia- The Bardo,Medina, Carthage and Sidi Bou

When I went to Capri several years ago, we took the hydrofoil. My friends who drank way to much grappa the night before did get seasick. I didn't find the hydrofoil dirty.

Thank you for concurring, I posted this in 2007, and a lot of people came up to me, who were on our cruise and said, either wish we listened to you, or we have herd from others and so pleased we listened to you.

Skip Capri.

Go to Pompeii,
Amalfi Drive
Sorrento.

Hmmm... I'm going to have to post on the ABD board & see what people who did this activity on the Central Italy ABD think. I don't remember anyone mentioning the ship being horrid, so maybe ABD commandeered the one decent ship to Capri. :)

Thanks!
