Going on a 4 nighter from 2/28-3/4. Wondering two things about CC... is the ship from Pirates of the Caribbean still there? My boys will be in HEAVEN if it is. Also- what will the water temps be like? We are from Colorado so the idea of swimming in the ocean is like a dream to us! Any comments are much appreciated!

It was there in the last few trip reports I've read. I don't remember the water temp when I went in Dec '08, but it was ok for me to swim in after getting used to it.

I just looked up the average water temps for Abaco ( the island near CC) and for Feb they list the water temp at 71 F and averaged air temp at77F

Wow- you guys are fast! Thanks for the info-- truly appreciated! Please keep in mind I am from land-locked Colorado... is 71 degree water temp considered cold? Feel like a bit of an idiot asking but I really don't know!

All I can say is that we do not even think about getting in our pool until the water temp is 78 F and the outside temp is in the mid to high 80's and sunny:thumbsup2 keep in mind we live in Texas.

We were at CC over Thanksgiving 2009 and the water was rather cool:scared1: our Daughter and friend spent a little time in the water but not that much.

We were there on 2/2/2010 and the ship was still there. Water was a little on the chilly side to me, but DS, DD, and DH all spent lots of time in the water with no complaining about how cold it was, so it must not have been TOO bad! We are from Georgia, if that helps you, so in theory, if it wasn't too cold for us, it's not gonna be too cold for you guys! There were many, many, many folks in the water, snorkeling and playing HAPPILY with no blue lips or shivering!

I'm from Chicago and if the water was 71 degrees, I was fine with it, but different people react differrently to the water temperature. I'm going again this coming December and can't wait!

We were on CC last year around Early March and the water was still freezing!! (Keep in mind I'm from FL) but we did get in a snorkle for a little while, but it was cold that you couldn't stay in too long. But like PP said Different people react differently.

Your ability to handle 71 degree water is very dependent upon your body make-up and whether you get chilly easily. I've scuba dived for years and 71 is cold by according to my body.

:lmao:
Im from scotland and would think thats fine to swim in.

We were also there on 2/2/10 and they reported the water temp was 75. It felt a bit chilly at first, but fine after a minute once you got use to it. :goodvibes

71 degrees is not bad. Spend about 5 minutes getting used to it and it's fine. Now, whether you'll be able to get out of the water is a different story. :)

yes the shipis still there just got back from the cruise yesterday and the water was cold

I just got back too, the ship is there (you cant go on it or near it) but its there. Water was 70 something but it was WAY windy so it seemed cool. My kids swam, I waded. Still loved it since back home was getting a snow pounding, but it wasnt tropical warm. Thats the one thing I will do differently next time. Go in April or May for warmer weather.

I agree with what others have said..... it really depends on you. If it's windy, how cool the actual air temp is that day etc. Also, heavy people are usually warmer than slim people. Guess you just have to sort of wait to see. Pray for a "HOT" day and FULL SUN ! Good luck! :cutie:
