I'm thinking of doing the 13/08/11 7 night Med cruise. Having done a 4 night Bahamas cruise am I going find any differences in the "Disney" product?

For example, am I going to get the same service and quality that we received before?

Many thanks in advance

It will be the same, I have been in the Med and California and its the same, same serivce, same quaility, the only difference is its port intensive and the ship is more of a base, then a resort in itself in the Caribbean, ie the highlights are the sightseeing, not the ship.

Thanks. Having been to most of the ports and the countries I'm more interested in the ship!

Then it will be exactly the same,

To me going to the Med and Barcelona, to meet the Magic felt a bit funny, normally there is a dirty great 9 hour flight, and immigration in the way.

It didnt *feel* Disney, until we went on the ship, even the port, felt different.

But on the ship it was the good old Magic.

Presume the same from Dover this year, funny driving for one hour and on the ship!!! NO flights.

It will be amazing Derek,(no flight) good question though, Ive thought about it myself, when we are leaving barcelona it will be weird.

Same service, same staterooms, same food, same shows, with a couple added in. Not a lot of difference just the travel is still the same.

And Mickey shows up!!!

I can see the advantages of a European cruise, ie closer to home and therefore shorter and cheaper flights. But I'm worried that without Castaway Cay it won't feel "proper", if you know what I mean!

Yes, cant have Castaway, but there are far more beaches to enjoy. Alaska and Mexican Riviera, as well as the Baltic will not have CC, I will not miss it!

We have done 3 DCL's and visit WDW 2-3 times per year. DCL does have that Disney magic going on but you won't be spending THAT much time on the ship as it's a very port intensive cruise. I always said I'd book a cheaper cruise line for such a port intensive cruise but I honestly don't think their prices for 2011 were outrageous (at least compared to their 2010 prices). We also had a rebooking discount to apply so that helped a little bit with our bottom line too. This is still a Disney cruise with Disney CM's it's just in a different location than the Bahamas. You should still expect the same service & quality on the ship that you had on your 4 night.

We really wanted to go on the new Dream ship but wanted to see more of the world beyond Nassau and Castaway Cay and wanted longer than 4 or 5 nights. Yes, CC is beautiful but let's face it - it's just a beach, it's not EUROPE! We will wait for the 2nd new ship and see what our options are when there are 4 itineraries to choose from and hopefully we can book something on the Fantasy!

Come on over & join us!!! It's a small group but growing slowly.:goodvibes

I really want to do a 7 night Caribbean in 2011 but as there aren't any that fit in with school holidays apart from the Med. The ports of call really don't bother me as I live in the UK I've been to Italy, France and Spain. I just want to cruise on DCL. Having done a 4 night I've got the bug. I just hope I can save enough to do a 2011 Med and a 2012 Fantasy. I'm going to have to start playing the National Lottery to pay for them both.

Question for any previous Med cruisers....any difference in the food? Clearly they have to use different suppliers for perishables (produce, meat, fish). I'm just curious if anything was better....or not as good as the Orlando based cruises.

That's a great question. I wonder if they have different theme nights based on the ports of call.

I also wondered if they still offer some activities on the ship even on port days. We don't plan on spending the entire day off the ship in a couple of the ports and wondered what they may have to do on the ship in the late afternoon.

Just curious as to which cruise you ended up booking after cancelling your DCL one. We have been looking at RCCL aswell. We really like that 12 night one with Athens and Santorini, although the Venice one looks pretty good too. I'd love to hear your thoughts on them.

RCI's 2011 Europe itineraries aren't available for booking...or viewing.

No, not until March...but somebody else just posted a link to an article that says:

Royal Caribbean says the Liberty will sail a seven-night itinerary out of Barcelona that the company will reveal in March.

So it appears if Andrew is bailing on DCL and sailing on RCCL he may still be facing a 7 night itinerary.
