Finishing Touches Placed on the Holiday Inn in the Walt Disney World® Resort as Hotel Prepares to Welcome First Guests

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Signs are up and other finishing touches are being placed on the Holiday Inn in the Walt Disney World Resort® as the hotel prepares to welcome its first guests next month.

Creating 110 new jobs, the 323 room hotel includes 11,000 square feet of meeting and event space, a restaurant, lounge and all-day dining. As the first hotel in Central Florida to open in 2010, this new Holiday Inn exemplifies the standards of the $1 billion Holiday Inn brand relaunch program. The Holiday Inn in the Walt Disney World Resort® is located at 1805 Hotel Plaza Boulevard and is within walking distance of the Downtown Disney® Marketplace. The official grand opening for the hotel is scheduled for February 4, 2010. For reservations call 888-465-4329 or visit www.hiorlando.com

Holiday Inn is doing alot to change public perception of their hotels and staff. we recently stayed in one of the brand new holiday inn's (baltimore). they are all being designed the same (rooms and furnishings and what not).....i can tell you that they are very very nice. the beds are so very comfy and the fixtures/furniture are quite nice. it should still have that new smell since you are staying so close to it's opening...i know ours did! i was impressed with the friendly and helpfull staff too. you should have a great time.

This is so true. We were very surprised when we stayed for the first time at the Holiday Inn and Suites in Brunswick, GA on the way to FL from VA. It is wonderful! Very modern, clean and comfortable. It's not your parents' HI anymore.

We now always stay there in the 1-bedroom suite, which unlike most suites in its hotel class, actually has a door separating the bedroom from the sleeper sofa;). It makes for such a restful and relaxing start on our way to FL.

Would love to see photos of the place; are there any making the rounds of the net?

So far there seems to be nothing on the net! Making me nuts! We check in on Feb 15th, the first day they seem to be taking reservations for. I plan on taking loads of pictures and putting together a post here and on places like traveladvisor. :goodvibes

I think that you were nuts waaaaaay before the lack of Holiday Inn information!! :rotfl:

This is the only "news" I could find:

The new Holiday Inn hotel at the Walt Disney World Resort is just finishing up preparing for its first guests in February.

The addition of this hotel to the resort not only creates an addition 323 rooms for guests, but also 110 new jobs for residents in the area.

The hotel is located at 1805 Hotel Plaza Boulevard and is within walking distance of the Downtown Disney Marketplace.

The hotels grand opening is scheduled for February 4, 2010. Does anyone plan on staying at the Holiday Inn during their next trip to Disney World?

I've never stayed there but IChotelsgroup has photos up. Looks to be new rooms.

These are the same "photos" they've had up for months. Only the room and the bathroom and the 1 exterior photo are real photos, the others are rederings. If they're having their grand opening yesterday or today you'd think they could update the pics!:confused3

And I just called their number (a 407 number) and it tells you that 'you've reached the Holiday Inn on Hotel Plaza Blvd currently under construction'. If today was the grand opening shouldn't someone be answering the phones?!!

I called the front desk again, I left a message and I got a call back saying they were scheduled to opne tomorrow, Wednesday at the latest. Tha makes me feel better!:thumbsup2

I thought they were supposed to open the 4th?

Sounds like you're going to get a brand new room:thumbsup2 Have a great trip.

Thanks for the info - I stayed at this hotel before it went down for renovation some years ago and when I was back last year I was wondering what was happening. I remember them having a good breakfast buffet. This last visit we stayed at the Hilton next door. I will add it to my list to check when I plan my next trip. I love how both of these hotel are close to downtown Disney and have transportation to the parks.

Can't wait to get your review CherylA and photos! Have a wonderful trip.

Please post a review of the Holiday Inn Downtown when you get back. We are staying there in March.

Pictures would also be awesome. Have a great time!!!

We are here now. We checked in yesterday. They are still working out some kinks but in a week or so I'm sure all will be flowing smoothly. It's less dramatic than it looks in the renderings but really nice and I love the location. The rooms are really big and we have a wonderful view of downtown Disney from the 14th (top) floor. Here are some pics we took yesterday upon arriving!
