Which beach do you vacation at?

I posted on the other thread about Kure Beach, NC...I'm going to state the obvious here though and say my favorite beach ever was Serenity Bay at Castaway Cay!

We haven't been to the beach in 6 years and my youngest has never been. This June we are heading down to Gulf Shores, AL.

Ft. Myers/Naples area is number # 1 for me followed by St.Pete/Clearwater. I LOVE the Gulf Coast of Florida.

well, I live in Newport,N.C. we are 15 min.from Emerald Isle and 20 min from Atlantic Beach we are all in the same county, I just live smack in the middle of both! So in the summer i go weekly to both. But for a change we spend a week in Myrtle Beach every summer!

My inlaws live in Newport :)

We spend most of our vacation days on the Outer Banks (dad lives there so it's free, yippe!), a few days at Atlantic Beach and every few years we go to Myrtle Beach.

One of my best friends got married on Kure Beach! I also agree with Castaway Cay, though I have not been lucky enough to go to Serenity Beach. We're not doing another one until our youngest child is 3 so they can do the kids programming.

For those of you who said Myrtle Beach... please let me know what there is to do there... last year we went and thought it was pretty boring... except Broadway at the Beach... I enjoyed the shopping... I am going with DS again in April for baseball and will have tons of time on my hands.... I know there has to be more than what I was finding... there will be a bunch of families going... all with high school age kids...

We go to Myrtle Beach twice every summer (we aren't too far). It is really great if you have kids - and you can do it as expensive or as cheap as you want. Check out the outlet malls and Barefoot and Broadway for good shopping. Ripley's Aquarium is surprisingly good - as is the dinner theater - struggling for the name here - watch jousting while you eat a really good meal with your hands! You can always do miniature golf, sailing, parasailing, or go out on a charter deep sea fishing adventure. Don't forget the monster buffets they have.

We prefer Hilton Head for a more subdued vacation. Still lots to do - shopping, and excellent dining. Our favorite place to stay is at the Crowne Plaza at Shipyard Plantation. Rent bikes, go to the beach - and we love Crane's and Marley's for good eats. Hilton Head is pricier than Myrtle, but it is a much different experience. Don't forget to head down to Harbortown. The July 4th fireworks are fun - and gazing at the yachts - shopping - eating. The usual!

We love Charleston, too - but have only stayed downtown. I hear there the best beach to stay at is Isle of Palms.

We go to Hilton Head every July. We stay in Sea Pines Plantation and rent a huge house (7-8 bedrooms) with my in-laws and DH's brother's family. The house usually has its own pool and is "2nd or 3rd row ocean". The beach near the house we rent is private and it's totally wide open---tons of open space, in fact some days there is no one around us. The water's always warm and the weather is perfect. There are many bike trails, golf courses, water activities, shopping, entertainment, and restaurants. Hilton Head is more expensive than many other beach areas, but it's become a family tradition since we all live in different parts of the country.

We've stayed 3 Fall Breaks at Majestic Sun, part of the Seascape Resort. Last October we stayed in PCB at the brand new Laketown Wharf because they were running a special to get business. It's very nice, practically across the street from Ripley's Titanic. It's across a little 2-lane street from the beach, but it's a HUGE place to get around if you have kids who want to pool hop. There's a kiddie pool on top of one garage (about 4th floor, I'd say), a major pool on ground level, a pool on top of a tall garage (10th floor maybe), and a pool in the middle of the lake. It was a HIKE from our room. The condo was GREAT...better master bedroom/bath that Majestic Sun, but just too far to walk everytime we left the room.

We are in Delaware. We go to Rehoboth Beach for a week or a day (staying at the family 'beach house') whenever we get a chance. In '07 we took our first trip to the Outer Banks. We were just north of the town of Duck, which was very sweet. We never left the rental house, except for supplies. Last year we stayed on the 4x4 beaches, took everything we needed and once again never left the house. On the beach by 9 am or earlier, over the sand dune to the house for lunch and kids naps, hike back out for the late afternoon- evening. Just us and the wild horses.. there were other people but few and far between. So much more relaxing than the 'main drag' to get to DE beaches and the traffic.. UGH.. but my kids are young and happy with sand and water. Someday we'll have to pay to entertain them.:rotfl2:

At Disney, we are non-stop! Do you realize you could lounge in a pool anywhere, but you can't ride Splash Mountain anywhere else! :rotfl:

We go to Orange Beach, AL which is very close to Pensacola Beach, Fl. We stay at the Island House Hotel. For the room that we get there (Penthouse Suite) and food. OUr trips end up costing pretty close to our Disney trips. We go to the Navy Museum on the base -- the Blue Angels pratice there on certain days, lay around the beach, boogie board, check out the souvie shops. It is very low key. You could stay at cheaper places and it would be MUCH cheaper than Disney. We have stayed at this hotel for the past 7-8 years. We went there on the way home from Disney last year but we can't do it this year. I will MISS the beach. We are not week long beach people. We do like 3 days or so.

It depends on what I'm looking for...but we go to Myrtle Beach (lots to do), the Outer Banks (prettiest beaches and lots to drive to see), or Atlantic Beach/Emerald Isle (closest and probably most laid-back...nothing to do there but hang out on the sand). I think Southport, NC is probably the prettiest seaside town anywhere near where I live.

We live 20 minutes from a very nice beach area-Tybee Island near Savannah. The beach is nice and not extremely crowded. You can see dolphins from the beach, my DH gets on his boogie board (with a life jacket and flippers) and gets right out there with them! We usually stay away during the really hot months, but spring and fall are great!

Medieval Times.
We loved it as well!
