Goofy Proposes, Fi Falls for Sleeping Beauty & we Celebrate our Engagement NEW 6/18!

DAY 2 – Pt. 2
After filling our bellies and falling for princesses, we were ready for some EPCOT thrills!

Before heading over to Future World we stopped to admire and capture some pictures of EPCOT’s Christmas Tree.

And have our picture taken with Spaceship Earth! Or as I like to call it, "the ball" :lmao:

You might notice in the above picture that I was wearing a pedometer. I wore it for the first half of our trip until it met an unfortunate demise at DHS. I was really curious to find out how much we were actually walking - and let's just say, it was A LOT! More on the pedometer later though…

It's time for Future World!
EPCOT is probably our favorite park. I say probably because it’s still hard for me to admit that it has surpassed MK in my mind. I love the MK atmosphere the best, but we far enjoy the rides at EPCOT more.

Being that we were in the park right as it opened we were hoping to get lots accomplished and ride our favorites multiple times. Our first stop was...

Test Track! Unfortunately though, it was closed temporarily

We decided to head over to Soarin’ instead – although we certainly weren’t disappointed – Soarin’ is one of our absolute favorites in the World! We just love everything about it – the sights, the smells, the cute little video they show at the beginning…
I also love the land pavilion – it has this certain smell, and my memory is closely tied to my sense of smell so walking into the land brings back great memories! Plus its so bright and airy - we love it in there!

Soarin’ of course, did not disappoint. We grabbed a fastpass for later and wondered back to the front of the park. Thankfully, Test Track was up and running!

We of course had to stop for pictures of the cars, this one in particular

Next up was Mission: Space.

Now, FI LOVES Mission: Space. I however, could do without it. I refuse to ride the orange – more intense version, yet I find the green – less intense kind of boring. :confused3 I was actually thisclose to riding the orange version during a prior trip but I freaked out just as the door to the simulator was closing and I hopped off at the last minute! Maybe one day I will try orange, but not yet!

We both took a ride on the green version and then I waited for FI to ride the orange version. I took some scenery pictures while I waited.

After Mission: Space we briefly walked though Innoventions – my first time inside! However, we didn’t stay for long. I found it to be obnoxiously loud in there.

We also made a run through Club Cool and I discovered I really liked the Mexico soda offering. FI, being from Mexico, was really happy it was available since it was a favorite of his back home.

Believe it or not, I actually wanted to try the Beverly to see what it’s all about, but it wasn’t working that day :confused3

Next up it was back to the land for another flight on Soarin’ and a ride though Living with the Land – I always find this little boat ride to be so interesting! FI is thrill ride kind of guy but he loves this ride as well!

NEXT UP: A first for us at EPCOT!

I'm with you on Mission: Space. I think the green is a little bit boring, and I kind of wonder what the orange is like because that is how it was supposed to be experienced, but I'm just not brave enough. I told my BF when we go in May we could maybe try, but the thought of being sick all day just doesn't really appeal to me!

I'm anxious to hear how the rest of your day went :)

Great update! I won't even get on Mission Space so you impressed me! I'm too claustrophobic! :scared1:

We were SOOOO bummed that Test Track was closed??!! They said nothing about it online before we got there. My DD was looking forward to it being one of her first big rides. Lets hope they dont close it again!!

I LOVE the pedometer idea!! I am so anxious to find out how much we walk...please let us know soon :rotfl:

Girl, I can not even LOOK at Mission Space. I am impressed you even get on the "wimpy" ride

Great update--can't wait for more!

Jumping onboard! Congratulations on the engagement!

Denise

:welcome: and thank you!!! Glad to have you reading along :goodvibes

You got some great pics of Epcot. :thumbsup2 The amount of sun is so deceiving...then you notice your COATS. :sad2:

I know, right?! You would never know we were absolutely freezing!

FI keeps telling me the orange one isn't that bad but I've read so many negative things about it that I just can't bring myself to do it. I keep telling myself...one day...but yeah, that day hasn't come

Great update! I won't even get on Mission Space so you impressed me! I'm too claustrophobic! :scared1:

Thanks Becky! I'm not claustrophobic but I certainly feel like it on Mission: Space! It's so closed in and uncomfortable. You're definitely not missing much!

Oh, no! Was Test Track closed for you all week? It was only closed momentarily for us and then it was back up and running. It was working later on in the week for us too :confused3

I was so excited to wear the pedometer  Unfortunately it fell off at DHS and broke so I only got a count for three days, really. Still, it was pretty interesting to see. I'm going to reveal the miles in a later post! :goodvibes

I am SO glad to know I'm not the only one who doesn't like Mission: Space. I think it was the review in the Ultimate Guide that first scared me away from it. And then when you're waiting to board they mention over and over again about making sure you really want to do it because "It's not for everyone". Ugh! It makes me so nervous every time, even though I know what to expect!

Great updates! You take beautiful pictures-- I love the one of the monorail!!

I've always thought it'd be interesting to find out exactly how much I walk in DisneyWorld. Can't wait to hear about the demise of the pedometer! :rotfl:

:lmao: My DH always has to stop and take pictures here too! I'm always like, "Come on, let's go! "

Rode the orange one one time! NEVER AGAIN! :sad2:

Ooohhh--can't wait to know what your "Epcot First" is!!! :Pinkbounc

It was really interesting - and definitely explained the blisters on my feet :scared: I wish it had lasted all week, though.

:lmao: My DH always has to stop and take pictures here too! I'm always like, "Come on, let's go! "

Me too! I can't tell you how many pictures we have of those cars, especially that silver one. :sad2:

Rode the orange one one time! NEVER AGAIN! :sad2:

You're braver than I am for sure!

Great Update!

I was happy to read that you and your FI love EPCOT. This is the park I am most excited to visit. Although, for me, it's because we have Disneyland and so EPCOT will be a whole new thing. Test Trak looked like a lot fun! I am really curious to try the orange side of SE when DBF and I go to WDW. But, I will admit, I am definitely scared. It seems like you have to have the perfect balance of food in the stomach and nerves to make it through!:lmao:

Do you remember the name of the Mexican soda? (just curious, as we have a lot of Mexican sodas here in Los Angeles)

Can't wait to read more :surfweb:

I don't like Mission Space either. The Green made me sick so I won't even try the Orange. We like Soarin too. I think it is one of my daughters favorite ride at Epcot.

Thank you! :goodvibes

EPCOT is great - it's got so much to see and do. We think the rides there are the best in the World, and then of course there's World Showcase with all its shopping and eating! So much fun!

Test Track is such a fun ride - I think it's supposed to be the longest and fastest in wdw :confused3 It's certainly one of our favorites!

Yeah, I think the "barf bags" on Mission: Space are definitely there for a reason

The soda was named Manzana Lift - it's apple flavored, obviously. It was really tasty :thumbsup2

I don't like Mission Space either. The Green made me sick so I won't even try the Orange. We like Soarin too. I think it is one of my daughters favorite ride at Epcot.

Sounds like no one likes Mission: Space!:rotfl:

Isn't Soarin' great?! It's definitely one of our favorites too...there's something about it that I find so relaxing :cloud9:

DAY 2 – Pt. 3

Believe it or not, in all my times at Disney I had never walked through all of World Showcase. I had explored Mexico since we had eaten there a previous year, but that was about it. Yeah, the first country. :sad2: Sad, I know.

I had been telling FI since our last trip that the next time we were in EPCOT I really wanted to see all of World Showcase.

So after leaving the Land, it was time to walk around WS! We were going to start out in Canada and my plan was to eat at one of the countries close to there since I was getting pretty hungry for lunch.

We stopped to explore Canada and find Le Cellier since we would be eating there that night!

I really enjoyed the Canada pavilion more than I thought I would – it was so charming; the perfect blend of rustic and quaint.

I was surprised to find the phone booths here – I thought they would be in the UK. :confused3 Either way, we had to get a picture inside! Unfortunately, the glare of the sun foiled our attempts at a great picture, but they’re cute nonetheless.

Next up was the UK – so adorable!

I was lucky enough to vacation in Europe after my high school graduation and one of the countries we visited was England. I felt this pavilion really does a good job at capturing the English atmosphere. Many of the buildings here reminded me of the cute cottages we saw in the English countryside.

I was hoping to eat at the fish and chips shop in the UK, but when I got to it it just wasn’t appealing to me. FI had decided he wanted to eat at the CS place in Mexico which sounded pretty good to me, so we decided to wait. We eat a lot of Mexican food at home and we needed our Mexican fix!

By the time we got to France, I was starving and starting to get lightheaded. Since Mexico was pretty much on the other side of the world, :lmao: I decided it was time for a snack.

What better place to stop for a snack than the French bakery?! You can’t beat the atmosphere and the pastry I chose – the Napoleon, was delicious! I thought it to be a great use of a snack credit.

FI isn’t much of a snacker, or a sweets eater, but after one bite of my Napoleon he had to have one as well! We both highly recommend this pasty! :thumbsup2

It was lovely to sit in the French pavilion enjoying our delicious snack – so peaceful and relaxing!

At this point, we were really wanting that Mexican food, yet it seemed so far away…

UP NEXT: Will we make it to Mexico?
