Hi Everyone..... Well it's been a couple of weeks since I left " The World" for the real world... ugh and I am already fantasizing about booking another trip. However since that is out of the budget for this year... Soo I thought I would relive our trip, and share our yummy, funny and weird dining experiences with the super helpful folks of the dis board! This is my first dining report ever, so I am pretty nervous about the whole thing, I am sure the awesome Dis peeps will steer me in the right direction.

Where

We stayed at POR and used the DDP

Our ADRS were for

50's PTC late lunch
Ohana dinner
Tusker House dinner
San Angel Inn lunch
Le Cellier dinner
Raglan Rd dinner
Liberty Tree Tavern breakfast pre rope drop

some of these were cancelled, and some were changed.... you'll see!:rotfl:

We also ate at a bunch of popular CS restaurants and had some yummy snacks. I will organize the reviews by the day we ate at each restaurant, and once I finish the day I will link it to the second post.

Well that's the basics.... I hope you come along for the ride!

I apologize for the ugly links, the link below the day is the link to the dining report for that day. If anyone would like to show me how to make pretty links I would appreciate it!

Okay on to our first day at " The World"

Our plane left snowy Boston at 7:30am .... only to land in warm tropical:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: uhm or rather chilly Orlando at 10:30 am. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Anyways after a quick ride on the ME we arrived at POR before 12:00. We had never stayed at a Mod before, and were instantly loved the laid back vibe at POR.

I was exhausted from the flight so when we found out our room was ready I was ready for a NAP! While I laid down DH went to scout out the resort, buy two mugs and grab a snack to tide us over until our 4pm ADR. This is what he came back with

ry%3D400

Pizza from CS at POR. This individual pizza was hot, and good, a little doughier than I expected, and the sauce a little on the sweet side ( which I love, but other I know is not everyone's preference) DH paid OOP for this, and I think he said it was 5 or 6 dollars.

I was now somewhat rested and full, so we headed over to DHS to try to hit some rides before our ADR and the last night of O! Lights.

At 4pm we checked into 50's Primetime Cafe. I
ry%3D400

The lobby was packed when we checked in and somehow we had ended up with two ADRs for the same restaurant 15 minutes apart:eek: I must have made a mistake when making the ADRs, and even though I apologized you could tell the hostess was not at all happy with me. We quickly found a seat in a little living room in the waiting area, and waited to be called. In less than 10 minutes we were seated in the kitchen of Aunt Jan. Aunt Jan was hysterical and really put on a great show. She was funny but never once crossed over the " line".

I ordered the Mega Berry Smoothie
ry%3D400
This was really good, creamy, and had a strong berry flavor. ( as with most of our pictures, we ate first, and took pictures later )

DH had a cherry coke, which he loved, he said you could tell it was really from a soda fountain and not a prepackaged drink.

DH had the pot roast
ry%3D480

Sorry for the blurry picture, but he was eating it so fast I couldn't get a shot. DH saw someone else eating this on our MNSSHP trip in September 2008 and has been regretting ordering the Chicken Pot Pie ever since. DH said it was melt in your mouth delicious, and his only complaint was that the portion was a little small for his liking.

I had the Fried Chicken Dinner
ry%3D400

The outside was crispy and the inside was juicy, perfect fried chicken. Also I thought this was a nice large portion, and I gave half of my chicken to DH so he could " get full" LOL.
I also really loved the greens. I love collards and these were nice and flavorful with pieces of bacon in with the greens. I barely remember how the potatoes were, so I guess they were average mashed potatoes.

For dessert DH chose
ry%3D400

Dad's Brownie Sundae! OMG this is good I had one bite, but it was just ooey and gooey and chocolate bliss!

I had
ry%3D480

Smores, I love S'mores! The blackened top of these marshmellows and the melted chocolate coupled with chocolate sauce and graham cracker was to die for, I only ate half of this, but I still wish I had room for more.

All in all this is our second trip to 50's PTC and not our last. A Disney favorite for us! 2 TS Credits

Later that night we strolled around O! Lights and I got a hot chocolate in a collectible mug for 4.50 OOP. The Hot Chocolate was average, but with the chilly temps and it hit the spot, and I love, love, love the mug and use it daily now at home.

Day two January 5th

So day two we woke up at POR ready to go and hit our first rope drop. We filled our mugs and nibbled on some breakfast in the room. We hit MK about 20 minutes early for our first ever Rope Drop. It was so great to see, and I will be sure to hit RD at least once on future trips.

After that first glimpse of the castle, and riding SM twice in a row it was time for a snack.

DH hit Main St Bakery and we split this
ry%3D400

A chocolate chip muffin... OMG this was decadent. Crusty on the outside, soft on the inside with tons of chocolate chips.

DH had a Nescrape.
ry%3D400

well we all know how that is..... but it gave him the energy boost he needed for a long day of fun at MK.

A little later I had my favorite Disney treat ever......

ry%3D400

Yup that's me having a Mickey's Premium in front of the castle. Best treat in the best place on earth... sigh.... I had many more of these over the course of the trip, but I didn't photograph each one. Needless to say each one was as good as the last:love:

We used a snack credit for the MP, and paid OOP for the coffee, and muffin
( about 5 dollars)

After a long morning of fun at MK we were looking forward to a CS lunch we were both tired, so we headed back to POR for a CS lunch and a nap.

We hit the Riverside Mill CS for lunch.

I have to say the Riverside Mill is quieter and smaller than the food court at POP, and I really liked the selection of foods better.

Anyways I had

ry%3D400

A salad with chicken, chickpeas, edamame, peas, feta, and assorted other veggies. I loved this salad, it was fresh and delicious, and a much needed veggie infusion into the trip. The only complaint was I was not a big fan of the dressing choices presented. I chose the lowfat Italian as it was the only one that appealed to me, but I would have liked to have had a balsamic dressing instead.

DH chose
ry%3D400

Make your own pasta with Chicken, Alfredo Sauce, and Peas. DH also wanted me to mention his love of all things pasta related. He really liked this dish, although when I tasted it I thought it was bland ( I am NOT and Alfredo sauce person though.) His only complaint was that it was again not really enough for him. On a side note I really liked the way it came in the brown takeout container, and I thought it was just the right size pasta portion for me:laughing:!

For dessert I chose
ry%3D400

This bad boy! This was one of the best cupcakes I ever had! EVER! It was so moist and the frosting was sweet, and fresh, not at all hard, the cake was fluffy. We picked at this, and saved the other half for later ( I am not at all ashamed to say I ate the other half for breakfast the next morning ) We went back for another one of these later in the trip.

DH got
ry%3D400

This cookie, It was chocolate chip, he picked at it, and I tried it. I thought it tasted burned. We ended up sticking it in the room fridge, and throwing it out on the last day. :confused3

DH got a Vitamin Water, I got a bottle of water for the parks, and we both filled our mugs.

We used 2 CS credits

That night was our Ohana night. I had been building it up for MONTHS to DH based on what I read on the boards. DH is a MAJOR pot sticker fan and we have them at least once a month for a quick dinner at home. I thought " all you care to enjoy" pot stickers sounded like heaven.

We arrived right on time for our 7:10pm ( I know not 15 minutes early) and found the place was mobbed. Apparently the Spirit of Aloha show had been canceled and people were scrambling to get into a restaurant. We were given a buzzer and found a seat in the waiting area. I realized right then and there that we were not going to see Wishes from the restaurant and that we would be waiting for a while. So what's a girl to do but
ry%3D400

order some tropical drinks and kick back. I got the infamous lapu lapu. People at the bar were shocked when the bar tender brought out a pineapple. It was like a VERY strong Mai Tai, and it took the edge off while we waited to eat. DH got a Pina Colada. I tasted this, and it was very good. While we waited some of the performers from Spirit danced and sang at the waiting area. This was fun, and I was not really upset about waiting. DH however was. He told me he was STARVING and would have had a snack if he had realized about the wait. I went up to inquire about the wait and was told there were 4 parties of 2 ahead of us, and saw them take the larger parties of 4-6 people first. That is when we met Donna and Doug : aka Our new Disney friends. We started chatting in the waiting area, as we were all thinking about leaving to get CS elsewhere, and Doug came up with the idea for us to form a party of four and have dinner together. Doug, and DH went up to the podium and we were seated moments later just at the end of Wishes, and were even able to see a little bit of the fireworks at the very tale end. The company for the dinner was wonderful. I have never met a real farmer before and it was nice to eat with new people. The food was good, Dh and I both did not like the pot stickers however, as we had read they were steamed, and they came out crispy like they had been pan fried. The bread, and lo mien, salad, and veggies were all good however. We also all enjoyed the meats, and trying the different sauces. The bread pudding was incredible, and it was great to make our own Disney magic and make new friends at dinner. I didn't take any pictures of dinner, because I didn't want to weird our new friends out . Anyways everyone knows what the food at Ohana looks like.

All in all Ohana is not someplace we will return to soon. It was a neat experience and we are glad we tried it, but it was not a favorite for us like we had expected it to be. The best part of the meal was meeting new friends!

This was 2 TS credits, and the drinks with tip were 25.00 OOP

thanks for a wonderful update. We are trying Ohana on our next trip and we got the first sitting so hoping not a much wait. I have to try the Pina Colada

Great start to your reviews! I'm on the fence about trying Ohana for a dinner during our next trip but at least I have a few more months to decide. If all else fails and we don't have a meal there at least I can hang out at the bar with a Lapu Lapu for a bit!

Great reviews.

I don't know how to make pretty links either - but yours are just fine!

We are driving down and I keep telling DH we will have coats and clothes for all kinds of weather - the beauty of driving! I see you had on your "tropical" gear! :lmao:
