A Halloween Adventure in Autism (11/7) Prayer Request for Catie (p.129)

I hope you didn't beat yourself up too much about your newbie mistakes! I think you made the right decision to let the kids ride rides if that is what they wanted to do. Halloween on a Saturday added to the crowds, I am sure. Hope your third "mistake" isn't too dire.

We benefit from your mistakes;)

The Billy Belly Laugh had me laughing as well.

I hope you get to hear it in person someday! :goodvibes

Your Christmas trip sounds like fun. We want to go again this fall/winter but the kids are getting to the point where I don't like to take them out of school. We are now considering an August trip. lol I must be nuts.

My local friends can't understand why I don't give DL a try. I'm looking into that, but can't imagine how it could stack up to WDW.

I need to decide soon...

I'm not sure if I will ever get to DisneyLand! Perhaps if I had to travel to CA for some other reason... but I agree; I can't imagine how it could compare to The World! But you are so much closer than I am, that's true. Tough decision... good luck!

Yippee for MNSSHP!! How did you like the heat that night?! I though we'd just about melt a few times! It wouldn't have been as bad if clothes other then full costumes! By the end of the night DS7 was the only one still in his!

We've been to MNSSHP twice now and I still haven't gotten it right. There's just so much to do in such a short amount of time! One day I will get to do the villain mix and mingle and the dance parties!!

It felt so much warmer than what the weather channel predicted! But I'm very, very thankful that it did not rain. I would rather peel off layers than have to add them with ponchos and raincoats!

Kathy

Great update. Sorry for the newbie mistakes. SOunds like you did do and see some great stuff though.

Hi Kathy! I love the Yo-Ho, Heigh-Ho game....so cute that he loves that so much!

I was right there with you on the Jungle Cruise...how can you NOT want to ride that?? It's one of my favorites...I'm a total sucker for the cheesy joke! :lmao:

Even a seasoned Disney goer makes mistakes! Good for you for being able to regroup and do what the kids needed. That's tough when you have a plan in your head...I totally get it!

Hanging on the edge of my seat for mistake #3! popcorn::

We never did get to do that Jungle Cruise!

Could you tell that I was proud of myself for being flexible? My, how I've grown!

Exactly! It was -5 in Minnesota. We all agreed 50's weren't so bad.

Wonderful update! Sorry to hear about the Billy meltdown! Crocodile tears are the worst....:sad1: I was laughing at his game with the 7 dwarfs and the Pirates though. :rotfl:

You got such great pictures of the girls on Buzz Lightyear!! What a cool idea!

I'm always prepared for a meltdown... his mood can change on a dime... but luckily he got over his Space Mountain disappointment fairly quickly. (Hey, I was disappointed that we missed it, too!)

Since I was the odd-person-out I had no one to play against, so I just sat back and enjoyed watching the others play. I especially love watching Ed because he is so competative!!

Oh I do understand and it's amazing how once you distill all of that down, magically there is only 1 or 2 weeks that even works and it, in an odd way, becomes a lot easier as if the choice has been made for you!

WOW that is a short holiday break, we have a full 2 weeks as well but of course we get out very late compared to most.

Newbies mistakes and all.....just reading about Billy's belly laugh and his songs gives me the warm fuzzies. I know how hard it is to auto correct the plan you have in your mind, kudo's for making that adjustment and going with what the kids want. At least they knew what they wanted! Far better than a bunch of "I don't know's"!

I think they like having me make all the plans, but reserve the right to rebel at will! :rotfl:

The kids do get an entire week off after Presidents' Day. When I was their age I remember getting two weeks at Christmas, but only two Mondays in February... one for Lincoln and another for Washington.

I just don't understand why they have school for three full weeks in June! I think that's terribly late to still be in school. I don't remember being in school that long, but then again, my memory is fading! :rolleyes1

Oh, don't worry CP! I go into these things pretty much expecting to make a few boo-boos! Nothing dire though... not like the Pirate & Princess Party when I totally forgot about the special parade and we ended up missing it! :faint:

Kathy

 I just "had to" fiddle with my countdown ticker some more!

PoolRat pointed out that there will most likely not be any MVMCPs while we are there the week after Christmas, so I couldn't very well have a ticker with MVMCP on it, now could I??

Ugh. This is the longest countdown ticker I have ever posted!

Awww....Kathy, I can SO relate to that "first day at MK being a party night" thing. That is EXACTLY what happened to us on our October 2008 trip. We did our first park day at Epcot, so our first MK day was for the party and the kids (although they liked the ones we stopped for) were much more interested in getting on Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain than they were standing in line to get their picture made by the carriage!

Great pictures on Buzz - that last one of the girls is so cute! :goodvibes

Sorry to hear Billy got upset about Space Mountain....I hope it didn't last long!:sad1:

I have a guess what your newbie mistake may have been - if I'm right, we made a similar one the first party we went too. Was itgetting stuck in fantasyland for the fireworks?

I made a mistake at our party too - and it was my 3rd. Good for you for going with the flow though - that's hard to do!

Hey! Why don't you have a PTR yet? :confused3 You're going in TWO WEEKS!!

Billy was fine just as soon as he realized that we were going to Winnie-the-Pooh! We were doing a lot of walking to keep him happy, though!

Oooh! That's so neat how you did that!
Nope. ;) We did not get stuck in Fantasyland for the fireworks!

(Good guess, though!)

I'm glad I'm wrong, because the view is much better from the front of the castle!

I love it when you talk about playing that game with Billy when he sings the songs wrong purposely. It is adorable.

I love this picture:

I am a huge fan of pictures that are not posed. Your two pirate men on an adventure :thumbsup2.

I have never been in the POC gift shop, we have to take a manual chair and Bill up the elevator, I will have to make sure to go there the next trip.

What!! No one wanted to do the Jungle Cruise? What is up with that? We love it!!

So sorry that the candy lines were confusing. I understand about the kids wanting to ride the rides, but I also understand you wanting pictures with the characters.

The action shots from Buzz Lightyear were great!

I wish Space Mountain would have been open for Billy, he was wishing so hard.

I am curious to see what the newbie mistake was.

I think that Kilimanjaro Safaris at AK has ruined the Jungle Cruise for my family. But they don't understand... you ride JC so you can laugh at the cheesy jokes!!

So glad that you posted!

And thanks for looking into the Enchanted Ticker. When I get down to under a year *sigh* I will change it.

I love the new ticker! It makes me excited for my next one after this one! :santa:

Sorry that we will just miss each other, CP :sad1: Tricia and Chelsa would hit it off famously!

Kathy

Can't wait to hear what happened next! You party experience so far sounds a bit like my early December experience. I spent a lot of time telling my DH, parents and sister that it will be slow, but it certainly was a lot more crowded than we expected!

I have to say it again, you guys look fabulous in your costumes!! When you put the time into, it really shows!

Standing in lines isn't my forte either. I might have been as cranky as Tricia. Glad you could readjust and go with the flow. Too bad they didn't have a CM out at the end of the lines to answer questions, and direct folks to the right ones. That would have made me a little irritated.

Mistake #3?? Can't wait!

I think in all my guessing games, I forgot to mention how much that story of Billy teasing about the two songs made me laugh! That is so cute and funny!

That's too bad that the party was so crowded. But, I'm not good at planning stuff like that so I know I would have done many of the same things as you. I'm sorry Space Mountain was closed for Billy! What a bummer.
