Goofy Proposes, Fi Falls for Sleeping Beauty & we Celebrate our Engagement NEW 6/18!

And so that’s the story of our engagement and how our annual trip to wdw became our engagement celebration trip! I booked the vacation back in August so obviously I had no idea we would be celebrating – it was perfect timing!

Awww.....that's sweet. And I love the fact that you already had this trip planned. What a nice suprise that it could be turned into an engagement celebration! :lovestruc :lovestruc

I think you should definitely be planning a DisneyWedding! ;)

Awwww!! I love your engagement story!!! :lovestruc Your ring is beautiful!! So will you be having a Disney wedding or Disney honeymoon?

Thanks Becky! The wedding will be here in Atlanta, but we're not sure about the honeymoon yet. However, I keep thinking a disneymoon at the Grand Floridian would be wonderful!

Yes, it was a wonderful surprise! I think a Disney wedding would be absolutely amazing - such a fairytale! However, I've always dreamed of a BIG wedding with all of my family and if we had it in Florida I'm sure most people couldn't make it :sad2:
But I see a Disneymoon as a possibility!

Wow I love the story! I would have been super emotional too! I mean I was when DH asked me but wow that's a very very sweet way to ask!!

Love it!

DH and I met in Japan because of a friend. It took us about 10 months of dating and then the next thing you BOOM! We are married. I think I've always loved Disney, but when DH asked me to marry him, I think my love for Disney took on a life of it's own.

My DH waited until September to pop the question. I wasn't really hinting or anything like that. I was just happy to be with him. Of course he was getting ready to leave to go to a different base in 6 months but I figured we could try long distance and see how it works from there. I have to say I wasn't ready for when he asked. He was acting kind of funny alllllllllll day at Tokyo Disneyland. I suggested going down there cause I remember as a teenager going there when we visited Japan the first time. It was soo much fun and exactly how I remembered it!

I had a feeling something was going on that day...but of course I wasn't sure what. So he popped the question after riding Splash Mountain 3 times. He had to make sure it was perfect! It was! He asked me about a couple of seconds into the ride, it's a little different from the American versions. Of course I said yes. I was really scared I was going to lose the ring within 2 minutes of getting it but I didn't lose it! I have to say there was almost tears but I kept them in. A few Japanese girls behind us were so excited about it they wouldn't stop cheering the whole RIDE! They wanted to take pictures of us and everything it was just crazy funny!

There are pictures not of the engagement but of times we went to TDL on my PTR.

That's us in a nutshell haha.

I should add that we've been married for three years. He popped the question in September and we were signing Japanese marriage documents in November. Wow all the way back in 2006! Coming up on the 4th in a blink of an eye!

Joining in... Congrats on your engagement! Your ring is beautiful. My DBF and I are heading to Disney to celebrate our college graduation in May. I'm so excited for a trip where it is just the two of us, like yours!

Excited for the next update :)

Joining in! Congrats on your engagement!

:welcome: and thank you!

Nothing like celebrating with a trip to Disney!:goodvibes

Disney is the BEST place to celebrate! They really do go above and beyond to make it special.

Wow - so he proposed on the ride?! That's amazing! And how neat that you got your own little cheering section? What a great story!

I didn't know you had a PTR, I couldn't see the link in your siggy. But I've found it now! I'm going over to check it out!

I'm planning on posting a new update soon!

DAY 1 - Pt. 2

I always like to start of my Disney vacations at the MK - nothing says you’re in Disney World like a stroll down Main Street and that first glimpse of the castle.

When we entered the park, I was so happy to see the Christmas décor was still up! I have been dying to visit Disney for Christmas (mostly to view the decorations) especially after seeing the HGTV special. I was hoping to see a few things, but I figured it would mostly be down by the time we arrived. Now, I’m not sure what might have been undecorated before we got there, but we were able to see so much - it was all very impressive!

And of course, our first glimpse of the castle!

Our first task was to head over to Tomorrowland and take a ride on Space Mtn. Unfortunately, lines were pretty long since it was already about 11:30, so we decided to bypass SM until later in the week.

By this point we were getting hungry. I already knew where I wanted to eat – Pecos Bills! I was definitely wanting to try out the famous fixin’s bar!
On the way over to Frontierland, we saw the Move it! Shake it! Celebrate it! parade in front of the castle.

We only caught the tail end, but it was still cute. And plus, a Disney parade definitely helps get you in the Disney mood!

Pecos Bills definitely did not disappoint! I ordered the double cheeseburger with fries and FI got the bbq sandwich with fries. I wasn’t too impressed with the dessert selections (strawberry yogurt and carrot cake), so we only chose one dessert – the carrot cake. The sandwiches were good though – and we loved the fixin’s bar!

*I should mention that I'm planning to do small reviews of the restaurants that we ate at during the week. It was our first time on the dining plan, so I'll be giving my opinion on the DDP at the end of the TR*

After our tasty lunch we headed over to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad!

Splash Mountain was closed for refurbishment.

Our final ride of the day was the Haunted Mansion, but for some reason we didn’t take any pictures here. :confused3

On the way back to Main Street, we of course had to take more pictures of the castle!

And cinderella’s fountain

And I browsed through Castle Couture and drooled over all of the adorable princess things (I can’t wait until I have a little girl and spoil her with tons of Disney stuff)

We also took the opportunity to take some more pictures with the tree on Main Street. We wouldn’t be retuning to the magic kingdom until the last day of our trip and I was worried that the decorations might be down by then (they ended up still being up!)

We also saw these guys as we were exiting!

We didn’t really accomplish too much this day since we arrived to the park kind of late. Plus, we were still a little tired from the 8 hour drive the day before (amazing how sitting in the car will just flat wear you out). So we headed on out to rest up for our dinner with Mickey and pals at Chef Mickey's!

Great update! :) Sounds like you had a fun day at MK! Nothing says Disney, like walking up Main St., does it?

It looks like the same decorations were still up that were there when we were there prior to New Years. Wasn't everything so pretty, all decorated ? :goodvibes

Thank you and :welcome: to my TR! Congrats on your graduation! What are you majoring in?
I'm planning on posting a new update soon!

I am a marketing major, but I'm not at all interested in being involved with sales. I'm having some difficulty with the job search so far, but I figure there will be a lot more openings as May gets closer! (at least I hope so!!)

We went to Disney in December 2008 and loved it. I had never been outside of the summer months, and was blown away by the Christmas decorations. I'm glad you got to see some!

I LOVE that first walk down Main Street! And the decorations were amazing - I especially loved the detail and theming of the trees!

Marketing seems really interesting - I would think there are probably lots of options there. Good luck with the job hunt :goodvibes

We were really glad to see the decorations! They were amazing!

WOW! Looks like a GREAT day at MK!! The Christmas decorations are beautiful! I can't wait to see all of it in December!! :goodvibes

We did have a great day! Although, its hard not to have a great day when you're at the magic kingdom, you know?! :goodvibes
And you will love the decorations! Especially the castle - it's amazing all lit up. Thankfully, the lights were still on when we returned to MK later in the week. I bet your girls will be mesmerized when they see it! :santa:

Nothing like a first day at Disney!! I love your picture of BTMRR-- there's just something about it that appeals to me.
Mmmm, Pecos Bill always looks so delish. DBF and I stopped in CHH for our MK CS, just because we were right by it, but I regret not going to Pecos Bill or Cosmic Rays!
