Hello everyone! I am so excited to finally be posting on these boards, (I've only been reading them like crazy for months!) I can finally say we are ENGAGED and are the begining stages of planning our very own Disney Wedding!

A little about us....

Alex and I both met in 2005 on our College Programs at Disney World. Ironically, our roomates were best friends and had both begged us to go to Pleasure Island with them which both of us didn't want to do that night. When I walked into the boys Vista Way apartment and met Alex for the first (technically second but more on that later) I really felt a connection. Yes, its cheesy I know but I've never felt so comfortable with someone. Our conversation was easy and we ended up having a blast.

That night, he asked me out and we had our first kiss in the rain...yeah I was hooked :lovestruc

So we spent every day of the next 8 months at each other's sides. I was working in Merchandise at Tower of Terror/Rockin Rollercoaster/Fantasmic and he was a Bellhop at the Tower so it actually ended up being pretty easy to hang out together. We are at the bottom left, I'm the only one not dressed as a bellhop Alex is sitting next to me

Then we had to part ways. We went back to our seperate colleges, with me in Tampa and Alex in Georgia. This began what I like to call the long years as it wasn't until four years later that we actually were able to live together again! Yes, you got it, FOUR years of LONG DISTANCE :rolleyes1(please don't ask how we did it, I have no clue to this day)

So fast forward past a shaky year, Alex moved in with me in Chicago, he is from Atlanta and I am from St Louis so we figured this was a good halfway point though truth be told we are both still hoping for a move to Orlando :wizard:

PROPOSAL

Alex had been in Chicago for about 6 months and I knew it was getting close. We weren't shy about chatting up the idea of a Disney Wedding so I knew he was going to hop aboard the marriage train at some point. We had planned a trip around the Disney Half Marathon as we were both running it and I had my fingers crossed. Turns out he totally managed to sweep me off my little feet.

If any of you were in Orlando on Marathon Weekend than you know I felt right at home since it was 29 degrees at the Start of the Race YIKES, I had thought that Alex may propose to me at the finish line however when i saw he was wearing shorts i thought no way, where would he put the ring? :confused3

As we were hanging out around the DJ Booth trying our best to keep warm, a Disney Cast Member came up to us and asked are you a couple? We are doing Couples Disney Trivia at the start of the race and we have a nice warm van that can take you there....I was like hmmm Disney Trivia and warmth....DONE DEAL :worship:

So here I am thinking that we are going to totally put other couples to shame with our insane wealth of Disney knowladge when all along that was not the plan at all

We got out at the start line and took our places infront of the camera I still had no idea at this point....

Then the camera came to us, and the entertainment cast member said that they were turning things over to Alex instead of doing trivia....

This is when i figured it out....and began to have a major freak out session :yay:

I can't remember what he said to the crowd or how he proposed but i do remember saying yes!

I was so excited the run went by really fast but we did finish :) Not only did our friend manage to take some amazing photos but Disney also sent us a DVD! So we have our moment forever, I truly could not be happier

Here's us thanking the people who made it happen at Disney

SO NOW

Disney Wedding here we come! We are hoping for either October 2010 or February 2011 and fingers are crossed for Italy :thumbsup2

I can't wait to get started...does anyone know how long it took for the Coordinator to get in touch? I'm so excited that even minutes are dragging

YAY

omg what a cute proposal!! Congrats on getting engaged and deciding on a Disney wedding :lovestruc Not sure about the timing for a coordinator for a Wishes wedding...we are having an Escape and it took a couple weeks after signing the final contract!!

Hi Ashley! So exciting to see you on here! I saw on facebook that you got engaged. I think a Disney Wedding is perfect for you. Too funny that Jeff and I actually had planned October 2009 and switched to February 2010, both are very good months whichever one you choose. I can't say for sure about a coordinator as when I first called up I was inquiring about a cruise wedding, but I think it was only a day or two before someone got back to me.
Can't wait to hear more about your plans!

-Becky

How funny to see you on here too! Small World!

That's soon! Where are you getting married? I'm working on posting pictures tonight from the engagement so be on the look out! I couldn't figure it out on my office computer silly corporate policy lol

What a great engagement story!! Congrats!!!! Planning a dream disney wedding is definitely great and you'll have a ton of fun. I am getting married at Sea Breeze Point in June 2010...if you look through the PJ's Jspahn got married at Italy and has some beautiful photos to look through :goodvibes

Thank you so much for letting me know! I will definitely check those out for sure! Sea Breeze point sounds lovely too, that more than likely is going to end up as our second choice so you will have to keep me posted for sure!

Yey I saw the pictures. So cute! I love how excited you were for Disney trivia lol.

We are getting married on the Croquet Lawn at th Boardwalk, reception at the Living Seas Salon and dessert party in the UK. I'm super excited we have less than 3 weeks!

My only concern with Italy would be the construction on the restaurant that is already started in the back of the pavilion. Not sure when they are going to be done.

Hmm construction in Italy....that could be interesting for sure. I will have to ask the Coordinator about it when he/she calls (seriously the wait is killing me lol) I just want to find out if October is even available

PS. I was reading your PJ when you did your tasting how did you get to taste the full menu? I thought that you just tasted cake? Though this could be a very silly innocent question...since i am just starting out so forgive if it is, but that sounded like a blast

Congratulations and welcome to the board!! I'm a former CP CM too!!!

Thank you! To say I'm very excited is a huge understatement

YAY for being part of the CP club, I loved mine so I went back for seconds and did the professional internship in GR...(seriously i think i was just addicted to the hours ....:lmao:) or not :rolleyes1

But I do miss it though...definitely beats cube life

I did 2 programs also...and recruited for them...and was a TDS manager:rotfl: It is addictive!!

As for the Planning Session, if you are having a Wishes wedding you just have to request it, otherwise you just taste cake. There is no cost :)

So as they say Ask and ye shall recieve!

I was at my desk anxiously awaiting the call from Disney which could have came today or tomorrow and a co-worker stopped by to discuss the engagement. The second I started talking about dates the phone rings, 407 area code... :worship:

My wedding coordinator was so nice and honestly incredibly helpful. I let her know we were wanting Italy in October and she even checked on the construction without me asking...love it. Turns out they are open on the day we need! Now i just need Mom and Dad's approval and we can hold it :scared:

But onto the reception, I'm very torn. I want something other than a ballroom but i want to be able to have a real dance space that can be seen from each table. I want it to feel intimate but not too small. She suggested CA Grill as Whitehall would have been a little too small and at first I was ecstatic but now i think that may be too awkward plus we'd have to be out by 3 which makes for a short reception which is a no no....i have no clue where to look...:confused3

Other than that I am ecstatic about settling on this date, I can't say it yet because I don't want to jinx it but oh my gosh if it works its going to be FANTASTIC!

Wish me luck ;)

I know, I loved both of my programs so much and miss them nearly everyday. The nine to five shift is really good sometimes i can't lie

Great news about the planning session i will definitely keep you posted!

Congratulations on your engagement! What a great story. Sometimes I am amazed reading what other DF's have organized for proposals! Yours is deff. got to be on top of the list! I can't wait to read more!popcorn::

Yey for getting the call from your coordinator! I have my fingers crossed that you can claim your date. My MOH is getting married in October back home in VA. I'm not a ballroom person either, although dancing is not a big concern for us. I will say that if you go with Cali Grill then it is a set menu and you do not get a food tasting. However there are lots of great non ballroom options out there so I'm sure you will find something that works for you.

Thank you so much! It really was so much more than I could have ever wished for. I had known it could have happened that weekend but I wasn't expecting what he did at all and was truly shocked. I am working on getting the picture situation under control so I can post them here :) Discussion boards are always better with pictures right? :cool1:

Thank you, believe me mine are crossed too! Things are in high gear given the call was two days ago ha. Oh well, its fun anyway :goodvibes

I think we are doing CA Grill just for the view alone since it will be so amazing to be up there during the day, but if our guest list gets much smaller I am thinking maybe Whitehall but that just feels too small. Living Seas wasn't available for our time :sad2: but I'm sure whatever we will choose Disney will make it memorable

Okay so I think the Wedding Department knows my number by heart but I can't feel guilty. I finally decided on a great location! AND BONUS they are held for us so we should be good to go!

We will have the ceremony (date to be announced when final ;) ) at Italy in Epcot from 9-10:30

Then we move on over to the Napa Room and Sonoma Room in California Grill for lunch and dancing!

It really is the most perfect solution (thank goodness my brilliant fiance thought of it :worship:) We will have the cocktail hour in Sonoma for our guests and so we can be announced by the DJ as we arrive. Probably will do our first dance in there and then move over to Napa for lunch overlooking MK. Then one last move back into Sonoma for dancing. It gives me a chance to have everything I thought was important without being shoved in a corner in the restaurant itself. And everyone will have to dance or sit at the hi-tops and watch us get down

So happy and excited right now! I am heading to STL to discuss the contract and such with my parents and i might even do some dress shopping :cloud9: but we will see. My apologies for the lack of pictures, I'm not too bright when it comes to adding them in but I'm working on it I promise

Hey, another former CP from Chicago! :D

Anyway, I just wanted to say congratulations and I'm totally subbing :)
