Booked flights with virgin for august

We've taken the plunge (so as our wallets), and booked with Virgin. We were able to book our seats, not a lot of choice left but chose row 34 abc &35 hij, these were next to a window. My friend said that the configaration is 2,4,2 but these were 3,4,3. Can anyone advise me on this? Also, any tips welcome, it is the 13.45 plane out, as the morning one was so much more expensive & the later one coming home.

Virgin seat configuration is 3/4/3 in economy


I am guessing that you are going from Manchester. The morning plane leaves at 10.25 am and gets to MCO around 2.30, although we are usually early and arrive more between 2 and 2.10 pm EST. IT tends to be more popular as it still leaves a good chunk of the day to work with on arrival. We are going from Glasgow this year for the first time with VA and leave at 2 pm so we would arrive roughly the same time as you - more or less tea time EST. The am flight is probably more because the cheap economy seats sell out quicker on that for that reason. It isn't a big deal as the way we buy our park tickets and because you still have the last day, we skip the parks on arrival day anyhow.

Finally managed to book ours too we are flying from Gatwick (usually Manchester but way more expensive than Gatwick). We are going on the 1pm flight after a night at Hilton. Booked both through Quidco and banked some extra cash. Just got to pay the credit card bill now

Thanks guys. Yes, it is from Manchester on Friday 13 August for 21 night, we've only ever done 14 before. Last year we drove down & stayed at the Brittania country hotel with 15 days parking, which I enjoyed as I could chill the night before (I get quite stressed) & on the way back went to my parents overnight in Leeds. We are going to do the same on the way back this time (my mum does all the holiday washing) but not sure on the way there as we would be hanging around the hotel waiting for the afternoon flight. What do those of you that do the pm flights do?

Thanks guys. Yes, it is from Manchester on Friday 13 August for 21 night, we've only ever done 14 before. Last year we drove down & stayed at the Brittania country hotel with 15 days parking, which I enjoyed as I could chill the night before (I get quite stressed) & on the way back went to my parents overnight in Leeds. We are going to do the same on the way back this time (my mum does all the holiday washing) but not sure on the way there as we would be hanging around the hotel waiting for the afternoon flight. What do those of you that do the pm flights do?

I am a big fan of overnight at airport hotel the night before. Can't advise on Gatwick hotels as we usually do the Raddison at Manchester. We'll be doing it again this year, even though leaving from our "local" Glasgow airport. I love overnight at the airport because:

1. For some reason, flapping about the house on the day of departure seems to create all kinds of extra pressure. I like to know that the day we fly out I can get up and go when I am ready. Technically it makes the holiday start earlier and for me it is part of the fun
2. A 1 pm departure is not as late as it sounds. Check in four hours early gets you to around 9 am. That means, get up, have a shower, eat breakfast at the hotel and leave for the airport. If you don't like hanging around the airport and aren't into browsing the shops, look at booking an airport lounge.

Hi Sharon, we are going later this year (November 19th) so we can see the xmas decs and we are there for thanksgiving cant wait, we are staying in a villa and Craig is going to drive again, only the 3 of us this time

I agree with you on reason no.1, I always get into a state the night before but last year was so relaxing, drove down after work, checked in around 5, evening meal & drinks from the bar, sitting outside. Anything I forget I can get at the airport so I don't know why I panic. Will proberly do this again, although, we may stay at parents & dad will drive us there & pick us up. DH could have a drink at the airport on the way back then.
