What Disney Tip Are you really glad you listened to?

Get a ressie close to 11:00 for Chef Mickey's breakfast. No need for a breakfast in the a.m. since you will be feasting around 11:00, and the meal at Chef Mickey will easily hold you through to dinner. We usually only need a light sandwhich. You can have a bagel or Pop Tart in the room to get you going in the morning. We try and schedule this meal to coincide with Extra Magic Hours at MK. We get a few hours in the park with low crowds.

Got a great suggestion from our server at Kouzzina during a recent trip. If you are the DDP and have tap water or some other libation with your meal, ask to take a bottle of water with you. You haven't used your drink for the meal, and you can never have too much water! Not all restaurants have bottled water so be sure to ask.

I try to remember to snap a photo of the parking lot row painted on the pavememnt on my phone, too

I have to laugh at this ONLY because my partner and I were chatting about some of the odd things we've seen people do.. she said she laughs when she sees someone take a picture of the parking lot at Disney.. (Personally, I get it).. NOW I can explain to her WHY!

I see this posted - what and how does one "subscribe" ??

Subscribing means that you will be alerted everytime someone posts something new to this thread. (or the thread you "subscribe" to).

After you subscribe -go to User CP (top left) Under subscribed threads, click list subscriptions and it will automatically show you the last new post in any threads you are subscribed to.

We just got back from our first trip and these are some tips I have. (I apologize if they've been mentioned before).

1. GET IN SHAPE! It's insane the amount of walking you'll do each day. I lost 40 pounds before our trip, but I still have alot more to lose, and I will definitely do that before we plan another trip.

2. If you wear contact lenses, pack another pair JUST IN CASE. My son almost lost one of his on Splash Mountain when water splashed in his eyes.

3. Stay on site.

4. Get the Dining Plan. This saved us a TON of money.

5. Take breaks. Don't go 90MPH trying to see everything at once, because there's just no way possible to do that. Pace yourself and enjoy the magic around you. :)

Hi Friends,
I wanted to post to this thread as this was one of the most helpful threads for my trip planning. Here are my post-trip thoughts / tips. In no particular order!

1. Use a touring plan, but be flexible. We'd use the plan each day but sometimes we had to move out of order due to a particular kid NEEDING to go to a particular ride or attraction. Every evening I'd review the TP of that day and see what we missed, in order to forward it to the next day at that park. I also made noted to myself on the TP of rides/attractions that could be skipped if we were getting "behind". We used the TPs from the Unofficial Guide.

2. When you start your planning, sign up for a few e-mail newsletters like mousesavers or others, and register on the official disney site disneyworld. disney.go - then you'll be more likely to get special offers and PIN codes.

3. DDP: Snack credits: One snack = a single serving item (no matter the size) which is under 4$. If you're not sure, ask.

4. Disney Magical Express sends it's bright yellow luggage tags in a DME mailing, separate from the mailing from Disney with the WDW luggage tags.

5. Stickers: You can get them at the hotel desks, from cleaning people, all over! Just ask! They are fun to collect! (and free!)

6. Balloons: Also at the hotel desks! My kids went and stood on line once a day and asked for a balloon - it was always cheerfully supplied! The balloons are weighted with a plastic mickey mouse head and I saved them - I'm going to make a mobile with them!

7. The cleaning people in the parks (sweeping up, emptying garbage) are the best people to ask for directions. They know where everything is! And they are nice and usually have stickers, too.

8. We bought bagels and cream cheese at the store at our resort (ASMu) and toasted them at the food court, then had breakfast in our room.

9. Tried to have the kids use waist pouches - they usually passed them on to us by the middle of the morning. We still needed 2 backpacks.

10. Use online check in for airline reservations, for resort check in, and for photo pass!

11. If you want quiet, as for a room that faces away from the pool.

12. We had a trick for finding each other. We'd say "meet at the Fast Pass Machine for ____". There is only one FP area, but lots of exits and lots of stores that look alike.

13. You can be a guest conductor on the WDW Railroad - just get the very back seat near the conductor and tell him you're there! You'll get to say "All Aboard" and you'll get a little card.

14.Take a digital photo of your Photo Pass cards. Take a few pics. We lost 2 cards and didn't have the numbers recorded and it was a nightmare!

ENJOY!!! IT IS TRULY THE MOST MAGICAL PLACE ON EARTH!
:cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

Sorry if this has been asked and answered already, but what is bodyglide and what is it used for?

TIA!

Body Glide is used by runners (or people walking hundreds of miles at Disney :) )to stop the chaffing that happens on thighs. I got mine at Dick's Sporting goods. The package looks like a stick of deoderant. It is a life saver if you have thighs that rub together and cause a painful rash.

Here are some of the tips I tell people.....
Do NOT wear new shoes!
The over the door shoe rack is the best for your bathroom.
Start walking months before you go to WDW since you will do a lot of walking there.
Don't buy water they will give it to you free.
Use your left over snack tokens (on the dining plan) to buy rice krispy mickey heads
and pass them out when you come home.
pack less and do laundry there if you will be there for more than a few days.
The most important tip is thisL
REALIZE YOU CAN'T DO ALL DISNEY HAS TO OFFER SO GET DONE WHAT YOU WANT TO DO AND ENJOY YOURSELF WHILE YOU ARE MAKING MAGICAL MEMORIES!

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but the dollar tree store has "magic wand" glow sticks!! They are really cute sticks with a star on the end.I stock up on them!! It has saved me a ton of money.

I also saw a sword and an ax for the boys.

General tip that made a lot of difference:

You don't need to pay full price!

I know now to most of us that makes total sense, but when I first started, I was paying rack rate for everything...crazy I know:scared1:

OMG! OMG! OMG! I have to show this to you guys!! My birthday was Sunday and my DH was really upset because his gift for me wasn't finished yet. He is a wire jewelry artist and he has been incredibly busy lately. ANYWAY, I just got my birthday gift and I am in tears!!

Do you recognize that red Mickey head inside??

Yep, it is confetti from our last night in Disney at the Wishes Dessert Party! DH had collected it off of the table when I wasn't looking to make me a pendant with! He even put a hidden Mickey in the bail (not really hidden, but you know what I mean!)

He usually makes pendants from people's flowers (prom, wedding, funerals, etc.) but said he didn't want to get arrested for picking flowers in Disney World! :rolleyes1

Anyway, he is the sweetest DH in the world (right now) and I had to share with everyone I know who will appreciate it!

That is just adorable! You are lucky to have such a thoughtful DH.

Please, someone tell me what an EMH is...I know I'll kick myself after the fact, but I seriously cannot figure it out!

I read somewhere on the disboards about the Bagellini being the best bag for the parks. Well I bought one before our trip last year and haven't been able to give it up yet. It wears like an over-the-shoulder sling so I can wear it on my back, but I can also spin it around front at the drop of a hat to pull something out or in crowded places. It's waterproof so no worries on water rides. It held everything we needed for 6 people last year...ponchos, bottled water, camera, money, tickets, you name it, it fit without being very heavy or bulky. When it wears out (IF it wears out), I'll def be buying another.

Other tips...

**Rent a locker at the water parks.
**Always take a poncho...ALWAYS!
**I'm not a fan of credit cards, but the Disney VISA gives great great rewards. Plus you can get one-on-one time at EPCOT with major characters and a FREE 5X7 picture.
**Take drink powder packets to add to the free ice water that you can get in the parks.
**I know this isn't a tip, but the Peter Pan Family Magic Tour was AWESOME, especially for young children.
**Take a nap in the afternoon if at all possible.
**Take advantage of the Extra Magic Hours at night. Some of our most surprise MAGICAL moments have happened during these times.

Chase has a Disney Debit card now that carries most of the benefits offered by the credit card. I too deal mostly with cash, so I was overjoyed with hearing about this :)
