Hawaiian Cruise..Maybe in the Future?

I know this so up in the air right now that no one really knows, but is it possible for there to be a disney hawaiian cruise in the future? We are booked for the Alaskan cruise which is my mom's idea cruise. I really wanna go to Hawaii and we are DVC owners which I know they are building a DVC resort, but I really think I would like a Hawaiian cruise better. I just really hope Disney looks into the idea of a Hawaiian cruise.

DH and I went there as part of our honeymoon. We were only there for 3 nights but it's definatly somewhere I would want to go back to and I'm sure DCL would be a great way to do it.

My personal opinion is that they will have to throw Hawaii in the mix and sooner rather than later (I'm betting we see it as the new destination for 2012.)

The reason I think this is that the novelty of the Wonder being homeported in LA is going to wear off quick. The Mexican Rivera itinerary is just not as popular as Caribbean itineraries and the ports can't be varied very easily. So the west coasters are going to want something new and Disney has to do something to get their regular cruisers (who are used to going to Florida) excited. I know I'm not going to fly to the west coast for the Mex Riv cruises but I am for Alaska and certainly would for Hawaii. The Magic is going to be free to explore new areas in 2012 when the Fantasy starts sailing. So between having to fill two big ships on their more traditional itineraries and the two old ships, I think they are going to have to have new places for their old ships to go.

Why does a DCL Hawaii cruise have to be a roundtrip?? With their new resort, one way makes more sense. Get people to their resort and/or Disneyland. For me if they do a one way, I'm just booking B2B -- I don't think there are enough sea days on a TA cruise!

It certainly wouldn't have to be a roundtrip cruise. I like sea days every now and then, but not a bunch in a row.

Since the Wonder is a foreign-flagged vessel, it cannot do one way cruises from California to Hawaii. It's prohibited by the Passenger Services Act. If they do cruise to Hawaii, it would have to be round trip. Passengers would not be able to jump ship in HI either.

They could do anything they wanted to....as long as they include a foreign port. Many cruise lines other than NCL America make Fanning Island, south of Hawaii their foreign port. But you'd almost have to make that a 10 day cruise to get all the islands and the foreign port in.
I'd love to do a West Coast to Hawaii, or Hawaii to the West Coast cruise, because the sea days are what we love most, it give you a change to enjoy the ship, which to us, the the real destination for us on a cruise.
We did NCL America, they overnight in 2 ports, and the longest stretch at sea was from 1 pm on the 6th day, until 7 am the 7th day. The ship was nothing more than a hotel since it almost always was in port.

Exactly. Took one of these cruises (except in reverse) several years ago on Celebrity. I will say the cruise was wonderful; still, if I go to Hawaii again, I'm doing a land trip so I can spend more time in Hawaii itself.

Actually, not. They cannot depart from California and finish in HI or vice versa, even if they stop in Canada or Mexico, because of the PSA. The foreign port must be a distant port. Mexico and Canada don't qualify. The cruise would have to depart from Mexico or Canada to be able to finish in HI.

Personally, I'd love it if a ship did regular sailings from Vancouver to HI.

I too would love a Hawaii cruise on DCL, but it seems even the other cruiselines are cutting back on thier Hawaii Cruise. I was checking RCCL the other day and there were only like 2 cruise dates for a hawaii cruise next year. I wonder if the HAL US based ships are the cause.

I think you mean NCL - and there is only 1 NCLA ship in Hawaii these days.

We cruised NCL in Hawaii in 2008 and if DCL ever sails in HI, we'd probably go with them even though it would likely go to the same ports/islands.
