Meyerwerth Web Cam - Odd

Does any one else find it odd that the ship yard's web cam hasn't been up dated in a couple of weeks, and today the top picture where the the Aida ship was is currrent, but the second one is still from 12/14 and is the covered dock that there has been speculation that it is the Disney Dream in front of the Eclipse? I do kind of think that may be the tail end of the Dream in that photo, and that rumor has swirled around here as well. Perhaps DCL got wind of it and have asked to have the web cam suspended. Just an interesting thought.

I think you re correct, Disney has a no web cam rule......

Which is really kind of a bummer. It's not like we can see many details other than the outside of the ship and we all already know what that is going to look like. It would have been fun to see her take shape.

Disney in general does not like webcams. I deal with the Disneyland PR folks all the time, and mentioned we might be inclined to use a Disneyland webcamera during our weather segments, and the PR guy said it is a common request from TV stations, and they tell upper management that, but they just won't do it. Probably because they are afraid that if something bad happened, they couldn't turn off the camera in time.
I suspect that mindset extends to the Cruise Line.

I think in this case it may have more to do with not letting the world see "back stage". The ships are the main focal point for telling the story of classic ocean voyages, and like other Disney venues, there is the stage and back stage. It's pretty rare that Disney lets the general public view what's behind the curtain. Though I think in this case they miss, pardon the punn, the boat a little. With so many loyal fans waiting for every detail, being able to watch the Dream come together would only enhance the excitment. Alas, as I am not the head of any part of the entertainment giant, I will resign myself to their judgement.

Ever so slightly off subject here. but they have a DVD that shows the making of the Magic. Maybe they have something similar planned for the Dream?

I have searched high and low and have never been able to find anything on the making of the Wonder. Also, does anybody know if the Wonder was also made in two separate parts like the dream and then welded together?

Having never been on the Magic and having only seen it in pictures, (I am not a welder, but have seen enough of it in my life) I find it hard to believe that they could not weld it in such a way so it would not be visible where the two half sections actually went together. Or am I just completely off base here? Of all the pictures I have seen of the seam, it looks pretty visible...

Id have to look next week to be sure, but I think the date may be off. (Dont know if the date stamp is part of the webcam or added by the webmaster)I think the cranes and the yellow spreader bar were in different places last week.(Further back)

Also, I think this has happened once before in that one webcam went without an update.There definitely was an issue as the names of the ships were mixed up and the paragraph was vertically written istead of horizontally.I could be wrong on both counts.

Ah you beat me to it MJ!

We've seen some clips of the Wonder's construction, but mostly only that it was built in one piece. The clips shown at the Castaway Club focused more on the Wonder's christening.

I'm sure there will be a behind the scenes film on the making of the Dream, that's when they'll let us "back stage".
