Here's what a little PIXIE DUST can do ....... a dining review+pics COMPLETED!!!!!

Happy New Year Karin!

I love both of those slushies from France but I have to be in the right mood for them, if that makes any sense at all. And being the weirdo that I am, I only do the Grey Goose slushie during the day and save the Grand Marnier slushie as a dessert drink (too sweet to drink during the heat of the day).

Now that I've told you way more than you ever needed to know about my drinking habits .... :lmao: .... bring on the next review! :goodvibes

Karin, we send you and Tom our wishes for a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year with much love.

Happy New Year to all our friends here on the Disboards!!

Happy New Year!!

Update!

This means a saving of 555$!!!! The year could not have started any better! :woohoo:

Maybe we should give them another try ;)! Maybe towards the evening - it was a sweltering hot day that day and I remember sitting there and the drink litterally turned from frozen to liquid within a few minutes! :lmao:

Karin, we send you and Tom our wishes for a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year with much love.

Thank you, Kathy and the same to you!!

Wow! All 33 pages in one go! But I am glad you enjoyed them and to have you here!
Bubba Gump's is wonderful. You need to try and go there next time you are in Orlando! :thumbsup2

It's wonderful to stay for such a long time, but with the airfare from Europe during the summer months (that's the only time we CAN travel for such a long time, since we are stuck with my school holidays) it is just economical that way. And we really enjoy our LONG break from every day life! ;)

Thanks for reading! :goodvibes

Happy New Year!!

Well, I am sorry to let you down, but I cannot give you a GERMAN perspective! All I have to offer is my AUSTRIAN perspective. ;)
You are right about everything being on the sweet side, but I take it that that is the hawaiian influence. We love the food AND the atmosphere - best thing ever is the breadpudding!

What a fantastic way to start the New Year! :)

Thank you - I was so excited when I saw the offer! With all those savings we might be able to upgrade to the UK offer for OKW again during the summer (want to do deluxe dining plan and having that HUGE fridge would come in so handy with leftovers ;)).

I just have to post this one photo!

IMG_3535.jpg

Imagine, wanting some ice cream, fruit and chocolate sauce with my funnel cake - a portion, take away, on a paper plate would be $12 for a plate of fried dough!!!!!!!!!
I know it is a theme park, but that's just a bit over the top!

........... and still day 23, Sept 6

Dinner at Ohana

By mid afternoon we went back to Old Key West to have a little rest and relax time before we headed over to the Polynesian for dinner at Ohana.

As always the line at check in was looooooooong! It took about 10 minutes to actually get to the desk to sign in. Needless to say, we were handed a buzzer and told to take a seat - they were running 20 minutes late.
We did as we were told, took a seat, but after 15 minutes we decided to just check out the little store right on the same floor.
About half an hour after we had checked in our buzzer went off and went back to the front desk. There was another family already waiting and we had to wait for one more family to all be taken to our tables together.
Tom and I were led to a four top right in the middle of the room, where they gather for the celebration/coconut races around the room.
Our server cousin was there to greet us a few minutes later, took our drinks order and the food began to pour in.

IMG_3539.jpg

First the Welcome Bread. Nice, soft bread with hints of pineapple and coconut.

IMG_3543.jpg

Next up were the Mixed greens with a honey-lime dressing. I LOVE that salad! We got the recipe for the dressing and have that quite often at home!

IMG_3540.jpg

A food runner brought the sauces and explained them to us, Peanut, Spicy Mustard, and Sweet n Sour Sauce

IMG_3545.jpg

and he brought out the Lo Mein Noodles, tossed in a Teriyaki sauce with fresh vegetables. We loved the scalloped potatoes they used to have, but I actually have to say that I really have come to like the noodles as well - only downside, they seem to cool awfully quickly.

IMG_3547.jpg

Then it was time for the Honey-Coriander Chicken Wings. I think they should be called Honey-Coriander STICKY Chicken Wings :lmao:! I am not a huge fan of Chicken Wings, I like my meat without a bone in it, but I actually love those. The sweet honey taste makes them very appealing to us. They are so different to the chicken wings we can get here.

IMG_3549.jpg

Veggies, what can be said, they were crisp and not cooked to mush and they were veggies, love veggies! Yip broccoli too!

IMG_3552.jpg

Next plate full were the Pork Dumplings with Sweet and Sour Sauce. More sweet than sour sauce to be honest, but they were VERY "crispy" (or hard!)

IMG_3553.jpg

It took a long time until they came around with the meats, well actually the only meat we ever received was the steak. The server plopped a few pieces on our plates, even though we told him that one was more than enough, but he left several pieces anyway. Thankfully it was cooked medium, so it was rather nice.
We never got any pork or turkey or shrimp. We were asked if we needed something else once we were done with eating and had put the cutlery down.

IMG_3558.jpg

And another restaurant that had been informed that this was my birthday trip, so our server brought out this cupcake with a small candle in it. Cupcake was nice, but we only had a bite each, since there was still one more vital dish to come!

IMG_3559.jpg

'Ohana bread pudding served a la mode with Bananas and Caramel Sauce! I am not a fan of bread pudding, but this one, together with the ice-cream and sauce is just devine. It is VERY sweet (with the sauce) and you can't eat all that much, but we did our best to conquer this heavenly dessert.

We were supposed to go to the Preferred Fireworks Viewing, that comes with booking with the British Disney Travel Company, but we both decided against it and instead just drove back to OKW and watch Illuminations and (parts of) Wishes (behind some trees) from our balcony at OKW.

IMG_3576.jpg

So what did we actually cost Disney?
12 CS credits = $ 245,60 (12 CS credits remain)
'Ohana = $ 66,-
10 TS credits = $ 357,20 (12 TS credits remain)
2 snack credits = $ 7,00 (22 snack credits remain)
all in all = $ 675,80
(only accounting for the things covered by the DDP!! Not covering any items purchased OOP)

Next up dinner at Tutto Italia

Another good one, thank you!

We stayed at OKW in Oct thro' the British site. We were upgraded to the 1 bed. Yes, that fridge was huge! We're still deciding on where to stay for our Aug trip, want to try Epcot resorts really.

(BTW, if you do decide to go thro' the UK site, be sure to go thro' Quidco for 4.5% cashback!:))

Thank you so much for your kind words!
You are absolutely right about the dessert options at the Chinese/Japanese restaurants, even though I loved my Chocolate Ginger cake (but then I love anything chocolate :rotfl2:) and Tom had the Green Tea Pudding and loved it - I tried it and it really was nice but the ice-cream is just blah!
Love your German! :goodvibes

That's about as good as it gets !!!My german I mean !!!Anyway loved your OHana review too !! I have not tried it yet ,but I would not be happy to NOT get any Shrimp!!!!

We LOVE OKW :goodvibes! A few years ago we stayed there with an AP discount and got upgraded to a 1 bedroom villa too - now we are hooked! :lmao: And the UK offer is too good to pass it up - over 40% off the room rate AND free dining! :worship:

If you want Epcot resorts - we LOVED the Yacht Club resort, waterview! And so close to Beaches and Cream and its ice-cream sundaes! :lmao:

Oh, by the way, thank you for pointing out Quidco! I had no idea! I checked it out this afternoon and we will try it for booking our rental for February!

As I said before - your German is impressive! You should hear my French! ;) :rotfl2:
As for no shrimp at Ohana - they offered them AFTER we had finished our meal and we just could not be bothered any more, ;) But their shrimp are really tasty - unfortunately you have to peel them - more work for Tom, as I am NOT good at it!

Day 24, Sept 7

Dinner at Tutto Italia

After getting up pretty late we decided to make it a lazy shopping day. Our fridge was well stocked, so we had a brunch on the balcony, and around midday headed out to do some shopping. We went to the Orlando Premium Outlets and the Prime Outlets and we did a little more grocery shopping at Publix.

At around 4pm we drove to Epcot for our 5.30 reservation at Tutto Italia.
We signed in at 5.30 sharp and were seated within a few minutes. They led us to a small table in the main dining room and we were soon greeted by our ever friendly server.
Tom and I both ordered Diet Cokes, yes as always!

IMG_3580.jpg

Pane De Casa

IMG_3584.jpg

with Tuscan olive oil

IMG_3583.jpg

and Ricotto con Basilico

IMG_3581.jpg

and a plate of their Verdure e Olive "Giardiniera". Everything was really nice and we snacked on it a lot, so we decided against a starter.

IMG_3585.jpg

IMG_3586.jpg

I ordered the Sogliano in "Tecia" - breaded filet of sole, lemon caper relish . Boy, this was good. The sole was very moist and the greens were just cooked right, still with a little bit of crunch to it. There was a very light lemon-butter sauce, and the capers complimented it so very well. Plus this was a really HUGE portion.

IMG_3588.jpg

IMG_3589.jpg

Tom ordered the Arrosto Di Vitello - veal roast with mushrooms, potatoes and greens. What a nice dish! The veal was so tender and flavourful with a very light mushroom sauce, the greens were the same as mine and the potatoes were just cooked right, soft on the inside and crisp on the outside - really nice.

We could not pass dessert!

IMG_3590.jpg

IMG_3591.jpg

IMG_3592.jpg

Here's the dessert menu.

IMG_3593.jpg

IMG_3594.jpg

IMG_3595.jpg

Copetta Sotto Bosco - berries, zabaglione cream gelato and chocolate sauce. No wonder it is the most expensive dessert on the menu. The Zabaglione gelato had a really delicate taste and was creamy and soft and worked so well with the fresh berries - would order that again in a heartbeat.

IMG_3597.jpg

IMG_3599.jpg

Tom ordered the Crostatine di Frutta Fresca, Pastry shell, Vanilla cream and fresh fruit. He really enjoyed it. Crisp pastry with a very light vanilla cream and fresh fruit/berries worked very well together.

So what did we actually cost Disney?
12 CS credits = $ 245,60 (12 CS credits remain)
Tutto Italia = $ 93,70
12 TS credits = $ 423,20 (10 TS credits remain)
2 snack credits = $ 7,00 (22 snack credits remain)
all in all = $ 769,50
(only accounting for the things covered by the DDP!! Not covering any items purchased OOP)

Next up Lunch at Sci-Fi Dine-In

Yum yum. I really think our experience at Tutto could have been so much better had we been able to order that sole...it looks absolutely delicious. And so to the desserts!

Your sole looked really good, I love lemon and caper sauce. :goodvibes

As always, another great review.:thumbsup2
