Palo menu and cost

I've picked up on several good pointers thanks to the posts.... 1) we are prepared for the Pirate party, 2) bringing "magic bullet" for margaritas, smoothies etc, 3) carrying on our adult beverages, 4) Palo sounds great but any idea of cost will help. Thank you all for input. I searched around the site and all I have found out is the cost to enter Palo is $15 and it's Italian cuisine.

p.s. this will be our first cruise - 7 day eastern Caribbean, wife, 19yr son & 9yr son.

The $15pp is the charge for the entire meal. Aside from any alcoholic or specialty beverage you may order. Most people leave an additional gratuity. The menu is listed on the FAQ sticky at the top of the main Dis cruiseline page.

In case you have missed this bit of info, Palo is for those 18+. You can book your reservation 75 days from your cruise start on DCL's website.

When we would received checks anywhere else on the ship like Cove Cafe or a bar, it would list the price and the gratuity then have a place for 'additional gratuity'. The Palo checks would just have the $15 listed and a place for "additional gratuity". Made me wonder if the $15 was actually 'gratuity'. That's the only reason I could come up with for a blank for 'additional gratuity', but no original gratuity. Anyone?

I've seen it listed in DCL's website that $5 of the surcharge is the servers gratuitity, they do not get the entire $15.

Keep in mind if you do Palo's for Brunch the cost is $10 pp and you get mimosa's at no additional charge.

During any of the days you are at sea on either the 7 or 4 day cruise, you have the option of enjoying a champagne brunch at Palo. If you do nothing else during your cruise, DO NOT miss this brunch! The concept is simple. A small buffet area has several different types of food, from Carpaccio to assorted cheeses, crab legs, mortadella, and a variety of other cold cuts, as well as croissants, pastries, and the most amazing almond bread you've ever tasted (especially when you put the strawberry jam and fresh cream on top...it's nirvana!). If that's not enough for you, there is also a second course to this brunch that includes hot dishes from the grill. A variety of pasta dishes, eggs benedict, grilled garlic beef tenderloin, and chicken cacciatore are just some of what's offered. Of course, you are served a glass of champagne to enjoy with your brunch, as well as fresh squeezed orange juice to top it all off. At the end of the meal, you will be among the legions of fans that this buffet has amassed.

All in all, we rank this as one of the single best additions to the 7 day cruise itinerary. Chef Simone, and her team at Palo have done it again!!

NOTE: There is a $10.00 per person fee and reservations are required. Resort Casual dress is recommended.

What is the dress attire for Palo for dinner? Can you dress casual?

For men, dress slacks (no jeans) and a dress shirt at the least. I seem to notice about half dressed that way, the other half with ties or ties/jackets.

For women, hard to define. Smart casual? Evening attire? Just no jeans/shorts/tanktops. Dress nicely, but nothing like a formal night is required. Again, I've seen the range from nicely dressed to beautiful dresses/suits.

Although I've never seen it, I've read here a number of times people have seen them (very politely) ask folks to go change to meet these (really simple) guidelines.

Brunch is even less restricted; resort casual is the dress. No shorts or Ts, and I've seen plenty of men in polo-type shirts (they're looking for non-jeans and collars). And, as at dinner, I've seen folks dressed up for brunch, but not too much.

As of 12/30/09, jeans were allowed in Palo for dinner...much to my dismay.

I guess the difference was the guy had silver embroidery on them

funny, I ordered this and did NOT like it at all...
After trying a couple of bites and not liking it, I was more or less picking at it and eating the other items on my plate. Our server inquired as to whether I liked it or not, told her I did not care for it. and next thing I know the head server came rushing over to see what they could do for me. I asked just to have a filet mignon instead. I know I got someone else's steak because they had it to me in under 3 min. I still feel bad that someone else was kept waiting. I didn't mind waiting for my steak.

We saw a girl in reg blue jeans when we were dining there in Nov 09. Now DH did have on dressier black jeans w/ a nice DCL logo polo (from a previous trip) because this knothead (meaning me) left our dress clothes in one of the other suitcases we left back at WDW w/ the inlaws and kids. DH did have his dress shoes though. I did call ahead of time to inquire if we should cancel, and they said absolutely not. But he did still look nice, shirt tucked in, belt on...once we were seated, didn't really look any different than anyone else around us, IMO.

Enjoy! Palo is one of the very best parts of DCL, IMO!

Yes to confirm the server gets $5 tip from the $15 charged and the other $10 is a room maintenance fee.

I don't usually like lobster, but I thought the Lobster Ravioli was TO DIE FOR. I hope it is still on the menu next December when we go back.
