If you have netflix what things are you watching instantly? I'd love to find some new things to watch. I recently watched The Big Chill and Fools Gold, gotta love Matt M. I also watched Magnum PI and Miami Vice seasons.

DD, DH and I all re-watched Lost 5 this week. DH has been watching Torchwood and Dr Who and just started Weeds. DD watched some of The Office episodes recently. I have been watching Heroes 3 and random movies. We have really been putting it to use over the past couple of weeks but will probably taper off as things get back to normal this week.

Over the holidays we watched the original Battlestar Galactica series. I also wanted to watch Love Boat or Fantasy Island but they were not available instantly.

I got DH a netflix gift subscription for Christmas!

He streamed in a couple of movies this week while he was off.

I will say - although this is off topic - the bonus on this Christmas gift is DH cancelled all movie channels on our cable!

Just the tip of the iceberg, IMO

Dexter
Weeds
Lost (especially to get caught up for the grand finale)
The Office (both American and British versions)
Jericho
Dead Like Me (but I can admit this wouldn't be for everyone)
Harper's Island (1 season and a classic who done it)
Heroes

BTW, if you get into these series and find an episode missing or a season, check hulu to supplement what Netflix has available on instant.

Lots and lots of documentaries. Ask if you're looking for recommendations.

Some better movies that I can remember:
P2 (scary movie - not for everyone)
Frequency - I really love this movie
Mad Money (great comedy)
The Skeleton Key (psychological horror)
Seven Pounds (fairly new actually)

Jeff Dunham stand up shows

The Orphanage (foreign but so good)
Lilya 4-Ever - Foreign, but a real eye opener, it's DEEP content

We've watched Dexter seasons 1 & 2 over the holiday. I wasn't sure I was going to like the show but I love it!

I just could not get into Dexter! I've always heard how great it is but I just cant get into it. Maybe I should try again.

The first few episodes were... hard to digest. It's hard to accept the serial killler as the "hero" (and I use the term loosely) but after a few shows I really started enjoying it. It's actually hard NOT to like Dexter (the character and the show).

Here's a little snippet of what's on my instant queue. I've got like 170 things on there because I'm terrible at removing things once I've watched it. Anyway, here are some of mine:

Friday Night Lights (s1, 2 and 3)
LOST (s1-5)
A League of Their Own
Bye Bye Birdie
Life and Debt
Through Deaf Eyes
Deadliest Catch (s1-3)
South Park (s1-9)
Dead Like Me: Life After Death
Pearl Harbor
The Business of Being Born
Who the #$&% Is Jackson Pollock?
Married Life
Wall-E
My Kid Could Paint That
Dexter (s1 and 2)
Indie Sex
Nerdcore Rising
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Gonzo
Paris, Je T'aime
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist
The Big Lebowski
The Tudors (s1-3)

Quite a few of those are documentaries. I've been getting into those a lot more in the past year or so that I've been watching Netflix instantly. :thumbsup2

Dead Like Me: Life After Death

Did you watch this yet? There were seasons 1 and 2, the show was canceled, then this movie came out like 5 years later. I really liked the show, but thought the movie was just horrible. Main characters weren't in the movie and instead of not bringing 1 of those characters back, they brought the character back with an actress that didn't even slightly live up to the original actress. Most fans of the series were VERY disappointed with this film.

Tonight we watched several episodes from Season 2 of the Dick Van **** show. I love that show -- it's still funny all these years later.

We also watch "Heroes" and "Leverage" and other TV series, plus movies we like. Netflix streamed to the TV is wonderful! Enjoy! :goodvibes

What's up with the hundred episodes of SNL stuck in my "new to TV" selection? UGH! Gimme something new!

We ditched cable and regular TV thanks to Netflix :thumbsup2

Lots of documentaries.......
Food, Inc --must see!
Jesus Camp
The Business of Being Born
Home -- low income family buying a home and her struggles
A Family Undertaking -- about caring for your own dead
Terry Jones: Medieval Lives
STOMP live
Bush Family Fortunes

Dirty Jobs
Fraggle Rock, that my teens thought was very boring. :lmao:
Doubt (recent addition to instant)
Worst Week similar to meet the parents .. funny sitcom
From Dusk to Dawn
Weeds (got hooked and now have to wait for discs in the mail!)
Mythbusters
Tudors
Holiday
Mr Smith Goes to Washington
Twilight Zone the movie
Nosferatu (very cool for the time period)
Confessions of a Shopaholic
Bridget Jones Dairy
Godzilla vs Destroya
Jon and Kate +8
Pee-Wee's Big Adventure..my teens picked it and laughed entire show
Blue Collar Comedy Tour
Beastmaster
Krull
South park

Outsourced --- indie film, surprisingly very good!
The Visitor -- slow but good and made me sad
Arranged-- good chick flick!
4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days -- sad, disturbing, angry
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas -- cried and cried

Dexter
Airline -- interesting show, good if you hate Southwest
Grey's Anatomy
Bunny Shorts- not for kids!! But silly fun if you have a very short attention span.
Happy Tree Friends -- VERY not for kids, short and disturbing. Fits well with Dead like me and Dexter.

I'm agreeing with lots that has been previously posted, especially Dexter, Weeds, and Dead Like Me (NOT Life after Death, ick).

Mostly our instant watch is bringing us indie films and documentaries that we wouldn't normally watch. I never wanted things like this cluttering up my dvd queue but as an instant watch I'm hooked! We probably watch two or three documentaries a week on various topics. My absolute favorite so far was The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill... this is, IMHO, a MUST see!

Def the tv series - I also like to watch old movies I have never seen - a la Shirley Temple flicks, Casablanca, etc.

No, I haven't seen it yet. I'm slooowly working on watching the show, and I'll probably watch the movie after I get done. I've heard a few people say the same thing about the movie though, that's too bad because I like the show so far. I hate when movies/shows switch actors for the same character, it almost never works out!

I really looked forward to this movie because the show suffered such a premature death (ironic, eh?). The series, while so short-lived, had some of the best character development of any show I'd ever watched. There were plot lines that I really wanted to see come to a conclusion and the film held promise for this.

But, it really was awful. I don't even remember that much about it except being so terribly disappointed.

I had never seen this show but my dsil raves about it. OMG, it is so hilarious! Tina Fey is a genius.
