Whew!!
I'm glad you made it without too many problems. I thought about y'all that whole day!
Bring on the Disney Christmas fun!
Yay! Thanks! Day one coming today!!!!
Happy New Year's!!!
Holy Cow that was intense!
So glad you made it safe and sound! Im sure your boys loved the snow ride!
I know mine would have. Cant wait to hear more!
nettii
Well, thankfully THEY were asleep!!!! That was our reason for leaving at a time they would pass out. Of course we had INTENDED to be quite a lot further when they awoke, which would prevent them from feeling cooped up in the car for long... they didn't mind the drive I don't think. The new car had DVD players -- so that was a savior!
I'm happy I found your TR- I love it! That drive sounds AWFUL. I would have been completely freaking out. I'm glad you made it, though!
Oh the drive was quite crazy. One of those things that when you are in the middle of it, you can't quite get your mind around the experience, you know? My DH is a hero though.... he didn't nap or anything before we left, worked a full day, and then he drove through nutty weather for six hours. Can you believe it??!! He said the adrenaline rush took care of that!
That sounds crazy!! I'm glad you guys hit the road when you did... I don't know that I would have! DH probably would have thrown me out of the car - I'm a really nervous backseat driver under normal weather/road conditions!
Meee tooo.... that is why he said GO TO SLEEP, we will be fine. I watched some... He said my "gasps" as I was "freaking out" watching people slide, narrow misses, etc, were distracting him
So he said to close my eyes!!!
Whew! What a wild journey to Disney for you!!! Kudos to your DH for being able to navigate through that mess of traffic and snow! It sounds like the stuff of movies!
So, you left at 9:00 at night and didn't reach Orlando until 4:30 the following afternoon? Did I read that correctly??? I would have been so sick of the car at that point!
Yep, leaving behind the tennis shoes is definitely something I would do.
Okay well let me say it this way, the drive home, we left DTD a little after 6:00pm... hit a little traffic getting onto 4 (?) whatever that interstate is that takes you to Jacksonville. But, we were walking in the door of our HOUSE at a little after 8:00am on Monday am... so 14 hours. Again, driving overnight was easy with the two of us... I drove from Orlando to Jacksonville. DH drove through the night (he is more of a night owl) and I drove again from 5:00am to the garage! We get books on tape that keep us alert and attentive... but the drive down took an additional 4 hours... all in VA, if you can believe it. Now we stopped for breakfast, and with gas stops I'd say we intentionally were out of the car/not driving for an hour... but the rest was on 95. Made the drive home a breeze!!!!
And yes, sneakers,
I wish I would have brought my fit flops... tried to get some Mickey head ones but they didn't have my size... And I wish I would have brought at least one pair of shorts/capris... I only brought jeans/khaki pants.... I brought dress sandals/wedges but not for the parks! It was odd, but I couldn't think straight to pack right!!!
Wow - that was crazy!!
I'm so glad you all made it down safely!
Can't wait to hear about the BCV, we walked around there some on the last day of our trip. Looks like a great place to stay.
Oh, BCV = AMAZING. Lots of people LOVE the BC!!!! We are staying again this summer!!!
WIG'D is MISTRESS of the BCV!!!
Oh! Good job finding a drive through Starbucks! That reminds me I have to go pick up some coffee for our trip!
YUP!!!!
That was a SCORE!! We have to remember which exit it was at, somewhere in Jacksonville I think, it was perfect!!!
I'm here with my homemade Mocha...(usually my Starbucks treat) all ready to read about your Disney Christmas...can't wait...
...
Ooooh HOME MADE Mocha.... just up my alley! I got a great espresso machine.... the kind that requires you to push the button and it takes care of the rest!!
I am sitting here with my own latte right now!!!!
