Hey there!

DFi and I were just invited by another couple to go to Disney in February or March. We are aged 22, 23, 24, and 25. The guy who invited us thinks it would be best to just get one hotel room and split the cost (we are fresh out of school broke! :lmao:). I'm not sure how I feel about this but I think this is the only way we'd get to stay on property due to the cost.

He wants to stay at the Wilderness Lodge. My question: is this a good, spacious place for us to stay? We'd be getting a standard room- yes, I know it's going to be small and cramped. Just curious if there's a bigger standard room in a different hotel!

Thanks! :worship:

The rooms at WL are larger but you can get 2 rooms at a value for less than the cost of sharing at WL. If someone in the group has AAA you can get a discount on the rooms as well. Don't forget to check out the specials that Disney is offering. Depending on when you are going you could get the gift card deal or a room discount.

Have you considered the garden wing rooms at the Contemporary? They are much less expensive than the Tower (one of the cheapest deluxe rates), much more spacious than WL and still on the monorail!

We love WL, it's a beautiful resort. We found the room size to be good for us, but there was just 3 of us, myself and my 2 adult daughters.
The above poster is right, the Contemp. rooms are larger, with 2 queens and a day bed/sofa. Also the conv. of being on the monorail.
Don't know when you are planning your trip, but WDW does put out discounts at certain times. http://www.mousesavers.com/historicalwdwdiscounts.html#codetrends here is a chart of when WDW has released discounts in the past.

Four adults sharing one bathroom could be a major ordeal each morning. I think I would prefer a value room.

I probably wouldn't enjoy sharing a room with 3 other adult people. I suppose it depends on how much time you're going to spend in the room.
If you stayed in a Value resort, you could both request a King Sized Bed which would give everyone plenty of sleeping space. Also, then you don't have to deal with one person paying for the whole thing and then getting others to pay their part. It may not be a problem, but someone could back out at the last minute and it would be easier, and cheaper to just cancel one room then to switch resorts at the last minute.

Pretty much all the Deluxe resorts have bigger standard rooms than the Wilderness Lodge, but obviously you'll pay more for a bigger room.

Is anyone military affiliated, because Shades of Green is cheap?

Make sure you look at all the discounts available for the time period you're going. One of which is a gift card of various values for paying full price for a package. Two Value Rooms will get you 2 $300 gift cards and 1 Deluxe Room would get you 1 $750 gift card.

You'd have to tack on another $50 per night when sharing a room at a deluxe resort ($25 each for the extra two people). You'd be much better off getting two adjoining rooms at one of the value resorts. It's the cheapest way to go, as well as the most practical.

I know you were already looking at a deluxe and others have mentioned getting 2 value rooms..but have you looked into a moderate resort at all? Given that you are 4 adults, CSR (or one of the other mods) might be the resort for you. I mention CSR specifically because they have 2 queen sized beds in the room and the rooms are pretty spacious. The refirbed rooms also have a solid rolling door that separates the sink/bathroom areas from the rest of the room giving you privacy in getting dressed and everything. The resort is also a convention resort so it has more of an adult type atmosphere. There are kids there but overall the atmosphere is very adult. The buses are also great because most of the people there are there for conventions. We rarely had others on the bus with us going or coming back from the parks. Because you would be splitting a room 4 ways, you would pay probably less than a value per person but still have the space and atmosphere that 4 adults would need and should have. Also remember, you're at Disney, how much time will you spend in that room? If you're going to see the parks, you probably won't be in the room much to really care too much about size, you'll probably just be in there to sleep and get ready for the day.

Let me know if you have any questions, I'll be glad to try to answer them.

And the CSR has the new Rix Lounge with music (DJ) on the weekends and dancing.

Rix was still being built when we were there last but the outside bar at night under the stars with the lake right there was really nice. It was a great way to wind down after walking the parks all day. From the pix I've seen of Rix and the reviews I've heard, it sounds like a great place to go at night now that Pleasure Island is gone.

Thanks to everyone who responded!! I will look into all of the places you mentioned.

We are actually just staying 2 nights and plan on being in the parks pretty much all day. As far as the bathroom goes, I'm not sure if it would be a problem but it is something to consider.

We have no military personnel in our group so that's out but I'm going to show our friends this thread and we will go from there!

Thank you all so much!
