Very good name for that drink. You'd certainly be bushwhacked after a few of those.
Mom was starting to feel the effects after just one, that or the heat/MS was getting to her. WOW! The views from the hanging cab are stunning! I don't think I could ever do that excursion though. I even use to fear the hanging buckets in Fantasyland.
I'm make something similar to the bushwacker in the summer months. Very yummy, but dangerous!

It was the heat, I don't move so well when it is so hot and humid, so to prove this I made up a batch of this very sinful drink, I have to say that I was walking a straight line LOL, I think. Here is the recipe!! Enjoy everyone, it certainly will warm up those old bones on these very cold and wintery days, oh, how I long to be back south in the warmth of the tropics!
Bushwacker
Every island in the Caribbean has their own "special" drink, and here in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, it is the "Bushwacker". Every bartender on island knows how to make them, and there are some variations, but this is the standard recipe. Tastes just like a chocolate milkshake...but be careful! It ain't no milkshake! Ever heard of a "virgin" drink? A "virgin" Bushwacker is a glass of ICE!! Haha! Multipy ingredients by the number of drinks you want. This recipe will make one drink.
1/2 ounce rum (Cruzan is the best, but use whatever brand you have)
1/2 ounce vodka (any brand)
1/2 ounce Bailey's Irish Cream (or a similar off-brand name)
1/2 ounce Kahlua (or a coffee flavored off-brand name)
1/2 ounce amaretto liqueur (any brand)
1/2 ounce chococo chocolate-flavored liquer
1/2 ounce Frangelico (I recommend it) (optional)
1/2 ounce creme de coconut (a MUST - "Coco Lopez" is best)
1 cup crushed ice (more or less to make the proper consistency) 3 dashes of grated nutmeg
1 tablespoon whipped cream
1 maraschino cherry
Put everything, except nutmeg, whipped cream and cherries in a blender and use enough ice that, when blened, will be the consistencey of a milkshake.
Blend, pour into glasses, and top with whipped creme, a cherry, and a couple dashes of grated nutmeg. Enjoy!
But use caution! They taste like there is no alcohol in them and most people have a tendency to get"bushwacked"!

When we're down there, we have either bushwackers or pain killers (more fruit punchy). So happy you tried one!

YUMMMMM...Bushwackers are incredible!
I was terrified when we went up to Paradise Point- mostly because it was not a place our taxi to the airport was supposed to go, and the taxi driver kept freaking out that his car wasn't going to be able to make it.
The island roads can be pretty scary!
Will have to try that recipe in the summer when we get the blender out for blender drinks.
After all the work we did this weekend I could use a painkiller! Or 4.
Did you get hammered with the big snow storm? That is one I am glad we missed.
