Okay, I think we have finally narrowed our resort choice to Port Orleans-Riverside. If you have stayed there, which rooms did you prefer? We have stayed at Alligator Bayou and have been trying to decide between there and Magnolia Bend for the upcoming trip. Also, in Alligator Bayou, do I remember correctly? It seems that I remember all of the smaller pools being shaded by trees. We plan to go in October 2010 and we like to soak up some sun while swimming. Thanks in advance for any advice you guys can provide.

Magnolia Bend......the grounds are beautiful. I stayed in Alligator Bayou also and kind of felt like I was in a tree house. The next time I requested Magnolia Bend and was SO happy I did. It was so beautiful

I love Alligator Bayou! Feels more secluded than Magnolia Bend. I also prefer the in room decor over that of Magnolia bend. Either way, you can't go wrong at POR. :lovestruc

We loved our stay in Magnolia Bend, I love the theming here, we were in Magnolia Terrace. It was on the side of the building next to quiet pool, bridge over to Old Man Island was right there and walkway past pool to main building. We were also near the bus stop.

Alligator Bayou does not appeal to me. . .give me the mansions section. . .really feel like I am in some ritzy area of New Orleans when I am there. . . I love POR and POFQ.

We've stayed on both sides and enjoyed both but prefer Alligator Bayou for its rustic, tropical feel. As for the quiet pools at AB, true, there is 'some' shade, but they have plenty of openness for sunning as well. Its also very 'cozy' and 'quiet' unlike the Magnolia Bend pools that are more 'wide open'....but if you plan on doing LOTS of sunning, and don't need any shade once in awhile for relief, then the mansions are your best bet. :thumbsup2

I kind of like the Magnolia Bend side better because I prefer the 'mansions' interior to the 'rustic' look of the Alligator Bayou interiors. It does seem like the Magnolia side has a more manicured look but I love the grounds on either side....I always enjoy walking through the resort no matter what :-)

I hope you enjoy your stay no matter what you decide :goodvibes
