Two Sisters finally get to go to WDW together! - TR has started!

Very cool video!! :thumbsup2
Thanks for posting the link!

I love Epcot...so much to do there...I love all the parks and am hard pressed to ever find a favorite so I always say my favorite park is where ever I am at the moment! :goodvibes

Tracy

:lmao: I absolutely understand what you mean! On the WDWToday podcast they just had a listener question from someone who was travelling to Florida and could onyl spent one day at WDW - which park should he go to? What a difficult question!! I really couldn't make up my mind!

Great video! Thanks for sharing!

It's wonderful isn't it? They had one of the MK recently, that was great as well! :thumbsup2

Hi everyone, today I actually need some input from you! As you know, Nodnol and I are really looking forward to excaping grey Berlin to sunny Florida. Some time ago we talked about how we were hoping to eat our lunches at CS restaurants in the parks with nice outdoor seating areas.

I have alsoe enlisted the help of the people on the restaurant board in this thread here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2344233

The ones I came up with are:

Flame Tree Barbecue at AKL (yummy! I think this is definitely on our list!)

DSC00390.jpg

The "Farmers Market" area at DHS (looks like a great place to people watch)

Tangeriene Cafe in Epcot (loved it last year)

Mexican CS in Epcot (would not be the best place for Nodnol's food intolerances)

DSC00703.jpg

Cosmic Ray at MK (has an awsome terrace overlooking the MK!)

What are your favourite outdoor seating areas? :goodvibes Any suggestions would be welcomed! :thumbsup2

Also, on the restaurant board I got the info that Electric Umbrella at Epcot does not have outdoor seating, but in the satellite pictures it looks like it has - anyone with inside knowledge here??

I ate at the Mexican CS for the first time this year. We were on the meal plan, so it was an entree, dessert and drink. I thought the meal was very large, and could have been shared with the dessert.

I've not been to Flametree, but I've read nothing but high praises!

Thanks for the comment! I just realized that I forgot to write a not in my sentence on the Mexican CS. It would NOT be the best choice for Nodnol since she can't eat tomatoes or dairy. I guess she would be limited to the guacamole! :sad2:

I love the Epcot video. Oh my goodness, it was wonderful. Has me totally excited for Epcot in January!

I'd suggest the outdoor seating area near Yorkshire County Fish Shoppe in the UK Pavilion. It was really nice and the fish and chips were great. :thumbsup2

Definitely NOt the Cantina with a tomato allergy!

I think that Rose and Crown has outside seating too :goodvibes
I am usually there when it is a bit on the (much) warmer side so I am usually wanting some good old air conditioning!
The spot near Flame Tree looks very nice too....lots of nice greenery
One of my nephews has an opportunity to go to Germany with his class. He is 15 and has been taking German for 4 years. It would be one week exploring (he is hazy on where it is) and one week with a family. I suppose if he doesn't do it this year then hopefully he will go next year....he is only in tenth grade but is taking many junior year classes (smart like his Tante :rotfl:.) so maybe he feels that he is too young :confused3

Yes, there is outdoor seating at Rose and Crown! We ate dinner there in November, and I asked for outdoor seating to see Illuminations. It was actually quite cold as there was a strong breeze coming off the water, but it was an unbelievable view!

I really need to keep that fish and chips shop i mind! Thanks! :goodvibes

Yes, it's a bit sad... :sad2:

That sounds like a wonderful opportunity for your nephew! I hope he will be able to do it this year or next! I don't now wether you read in the previous posts that nodnol and I both were exchange students when we were at school and that my parents hosted quite a few exchange students? Actually, this weekend we will once again volunteering for our exchange organization and will be on a committee selecting students who applied for an exchange year. Perhaps that might be something for your nephew, too? :goodvibes

Thanks on the Rose and Crown, it was on our list of possible ADRs, but other restaurants won out...

Ok, Rose and Crown will be on my list for the trip after this... I just feel stupid eating British food in the USA... :lmao:

Sometimes guacamole has tomatoes in it, too. I'd vote Flame Tree!

I guess, the only thing nodnol could eat at the Cantina is a churro... ;) Flame Tree is one of our must dos!! :thumbsup2

Finally I have the time to continue on our Disneyland 1992 trip!! I promised you a visit to Tomorrowland!

I still remember that we liked the Peoplemover, aka TTA in WDW. It had individual little carts with a tiny roof and we thought it was rather stylish. We were impressed with the fact that it was a magnetic propulsion system as our father had been involved as a civil engineer with a project here in Berlin in the 80s for a magnetic monorail. I still love the TTA and when I was first at WDW I really missed that theming of a sightseeing tour around Tomorrowland that the Peoplemover had.

I also remember that in our quest to experience every attraction in DL (we checked them off on the park map) we went on Mission to Mars. It was sooooo outdated and I was so underwhelmed that I still remember it!

Katharina absolutely loved Captain EO and we had to see it several times. I enjoyed it a lot, too. I think it would be really fun if they brought it back. It seems it is already certain that DL will get it and Epcot may actually get it too instead of Honey I Shrunk the Audience.

Star Tours was really one of our favourite attractions then. I think we had multiple ride on that as well! We will make a point of seeing that in January for most likely a last time! And it will be great for Katharina to finally enjoy it in English again instead of French.

Sorry – there aren't many pictures of Tomorrowland!

Adventureland

Let's head over here! I really don't have that many memories. I think we went on the Jungle Cruise, and I know that we climbed the Swiss Family Tree House:

And I am sure that we visited the Tiki Room, I might even have gotten a Dole Whip – or pineapple spears, but I am sure that I remember eating in the Tiki Rooom!! It is allowed at DL.

New Orleans Square:

This was one of our favourite areas of DL. It was soooo pretty.

There were tiny shops with interesting merchandise. In general we really loved the shopping at DL. There were so many unique things. It's so sad that every shop today seems to sell the same stuff...

We liked Pirates, but were not wowed by it. I am still not a great fan of audioanimatronics. It is nice enough, but a bit boring in my view.

I was very afraid of the Haunted Mansion, but then I was very impressed. I loved the hitchhiking ghost effect the most!

Frontierland:

We really liked Big Thunder Mountain, but did not like the lines it had. I think it was down for most of our second day at DL and we rather disappointed by that.

We also went on the keelboats traveling the Rivers of America: It was way too hot for us and we felt very uncomfortable on the boat. We were really relieved once we got off!! And decided that people who actually were doing the same boring trip in a canoe which they had to propel themselves were absolutely crazy!!!

We also went over to Tom Sawyer's Island and the only thing about it that I remember is that the two CMs piloting our raft over (a young man and a girl) were talking about the fact that he had shaved his legs that day... I found that rather bizarre!

:cool1: Yippeee for the 40% off!!!! How wonderful is that! Your right, they really must be hurting!!!

Another great DL update!!!

I'm trying to think of CS with outdoor eating areas for you!! Lets see what I can come up with off the top pf my head!

Casey's in MK, although the tables right outside can be hard to come by, Pinocchio's in MK you can sit in that little area by Ariels Grotto. Any of the countries in Worldshow case you can usually find a bench or a wall to sit! You mentioned Flame Tree (love that seating area!), Pizzafari in AK as well(not good for the tomato allergy I suppose), Starring Rolls in DHS. I can't remember if there is an outside area to eat by the Mara at AKL!!! If I think of more I'll let you know!!!

Joining in a little late-- loving the trips down memory lane! Hope you have a wonderful trip!!

I just read the other day that Bob Iger announced that in the second half of 2010 they will stop the heavy discounting! :confused3 Part of me thinks that this is great since it means that the economy will have improved. And having a weak economy in the US is bad for all of you and I rather want you not having to worry about your job, but it is also good for the German economy which relies heavily on exporting good to the USA. But then I am personally thinking about two trips for 2011, so discounts would be very nice!! :goodvibes

Joining in a little late-- loving the trips down memory lane! Hope you have a wonderful trip!!

:welcome: Glad to have you here! There is some more memory lane coming (soon I hope). Parades and entertainment in DL and then several trips to DLP! :woohoo:

We are nearly at the 45 day mark! We already paid a big chunk of our package in August, and thanks to the discounts there are only a bit over 300 $ left to pay! :thumbsup2 Our TA will take care of making the payment.

We are really getting so close - it's nearly Christmas and then ther is New Year's, so when we start working after that on 1/4 it's just another 23 days until we get on that plane to MCO. but also

Goodness! I was SO far behind! :sad2:

First, I am very happy to read that Nodnol's DH is okay!!! :goodvibes How awful that had to be for him, and her, to go through.

Love your mini-TR on your day trip to the theme park...I cannot recall the name of it... You got some great pictures, it looks like you three had a blast! I was laughing out loud imagining you on the ride with the poncho half on, and it pouring down rain!!! :rotfl: That is the kind of stuff that makes memories! Love it!

And decided that people who actually were doing the same boring trip in a canoe which they had to propel themselves were absolutely crazy!!!

:rotfl2: That is a very, very good point! It's hot, yet people choose to row themselves...:confused3

I didn't hear that Bob Iger said the heavy discounts would end in 2010. Kind of a strange announcment...did he say that thinking the economy should somehow vastly improve in the next 6 months??? I cannot see how they will manage doing that and still expect the same type of business...we'll see I suppose!

Oh, and I loved the link of the Epcot film! I hope they do that with AK and DHS too, so creative and just awesome! Thanks for posting it!

Hey there! Here's the link to the article about 2010:

http://thedailydisney.com/blog/2009...ack-on-park-discounts-in-latter-part-of-2010/

It eppears they're worried we might get used to these discounts and come to expect them!!! :rotfl:

Enjoying your trip report, Flossbolna. Things are crazy busy here so I had fallen a bit behind, but I'm caught up now!! :thumbsup2 Since I used to live near Disneyland, it's a joy to see those pictures! (lots of memories :cloud9:)

I have to tell you, my AKL February trip got better too! (cost-wise) General codes came out for the resorts and I kept trying (online) to see if AKL-CL was available for the dates I'd already booked with the AAA discount (15%). It took about a week, but one day, there it was: 40% off AKL-CL!! :yay: I don't think I ever dialed a phone so fast!! Got a great CM and he applied the discount!! :woohoo:

I'm leaving for WDW Tuesday afternoon! Can't wait to see DisneyBride'03 and PNO4TE!! :yay::yay:

Happy Holidays! :santa: I'm looking forward to seeing you and nodnol in early February!! :goodvibes

Hi Flossbolna,
Just found this report after having read your last years food report - and thinking GOSH! I wish she was going in January, during my 3 week trip. Well, you are going in January, but I miss you by 1 day :(

My dh & I lived in Bitburg for 9 years and still miss it - especially the neighbors, the bread, and the coffee! lol

Your English is VERY good, btw!

Oh, if you ever want to rent points, I know a lady who lives near Nuremberg and has quite a few points - she might be willing to rent you some if she can't use them herself.

Have a great trip! Can't WAIT to read all about it!

Hey M,

I enjoyed reading your last post on DL...isn't it interesting how some things change and some things stay very much the same? :goodvibes
I hate when rides go down...I know they can't help it but it is disappointing...:confused3

Wow...your trip is getting closer and closer...:goodvibes

In MK...you can't beat the outdoor seating at Casey's...the menu is limited but you get that great view of the castle and the Crystal Palace...

I think that Tangierine Cafe is really very good and has pretty seating...
I've heard good things about the Japanese CS...
If you just want a sandwich or quiche and a glass of wine, the cafe in France is fun...

Flame tree barbeque is good and has very pretty seating...:thumbsup2

Congrats on the great discount...:thumbsup2
