The pics of Trunk Bay are beautiful! :goodvibes

It was such a wonderful place. I can still picture it perfectly in my mind.

OOOh, I love the pics of Trunk Bay! Can't wait to see more.:cloud9:

Thanks! :goodvibes

I love hearing stories like that, it makes you believe that people really do follow their dreams.

Indeed! Like my Grandma told me, "You can do anything you want and anything is possible if you just try hard enough and believe".

Can't wait till you write about your snorkeling.
Scared the crap out of me, hearing my own breathing.
But I loved it, but didn't love the gulps of salt water I accidently swallowed.

:wave2: Hi Lessa. I have been reading along, but just have not had time to respond...sorry:flower3:

I am loving all the pictures and they are really making me want to book a cruise. Just don't know if I would feel claustrophobic, KWIM?

Can't wait to hear about snorkeling.

The ship is so big and there is so much to do that you don't really think about being isolated on a ship in the sea.

and thank god it does:thumbsup2 Always good for a belly laugh!
not a problem.
:goodvibes:laughing:
 Thank you for making my boring as heck computer literacy class more amusing. Reading this is definitely more fun than typing up practice Excel worksheets. :thumbsup2
your welcome, just start me on a story and i will finish it for you.

Definitely! So long as I am not in the library like I was yesterday when all MY farting was going on. ;)
maybe you should have passed on the chili at lunch time.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:I'm watching National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation for the millionth time - the grandpa just said, "SQUIRREL!!!!" as a furry friend jumped out of the tree at his face! :lmao: Couldn't help but think of you!

wheres eddy he normally eats these things.

oh not anymore clark, he found out they were high in cholesterol.

There was a nice sized parking lot at the front of the park. The trucks all pulled up next to each other and we were instructed to gather together once through the "gate" for some information and instructions.

To get through the entrance we had to show our excursion wrist bands. Trunk Bay charges admission so the wrist bands waved the fee.

I was impressed with the bathrooms and changing facilities here. They were much nicer than at The Baths! Large, roomy and clean!

This is the little stand where you could buy food and drinks. You really don't want to though as it is all overpriced and the birds will try and steal your food from you.

We all gathered around our guide and he told us how much time we had and when to be back at the trucks. He said he would announce a 20 minute warning from the lifeguard stand. He also said that if you are late arriving at the trucks they would not wait around so be on time!

He also gave us information on the snorkeling gear we could use that was part of the excursion price. Mom and I would not be using it as we had brought our own equipment. He also told us what not to do when snorkeling (don't step on the coral etc as it is a protected nature reserve and steping on the coral can not only cause injury but you are also killing the coral and the organisms that live on it).

Finally! We were released and we could make our way to the beach. Mom and I grabbed a spot on the sand and laid out our towels.

The snorkeling trail was over by the island (which you are not allowed on) and was marked by three coloured buoys in the water.

Mom and I were sharing the snorkel equipment so I told her to go out first as she has snorkeled before and knew what she was doing. She came back after a few minutes though. Her shoulder had been causing her pain on the trip as it was frozen and so she did not feel comfortable swimming out far with the bad arm.

I had never been snorkeling before and I was a bit nervous so I decided to go get some instruction from the park staff who was leading a free beginner lesson. He was very helpful and I got used to snorkeling almost right away.

The only piece of snorkeling equipment that we used that was provided by the excursion/park was the inflatable vest that they make you wear. You don't actually have to inflate it but you must wear it if you are going to snorkel.

Vest on and gear put on properly I began to make my way out to the snorkel trail. I ran into my character line buddy and her son, she was trying to teach him how to snorkel but he was too afraid.

I loved snorkeling! There were so many beautiful fish and it was so neat getting to see them all and the coral and everything else on the sea floor. There were information markers on the sea floor that gave you information on the various types of fish species and lifeforms in the area. Very neat! I have no idea why I was so nervous about snorkeling or why I thought it would be difficult, it was really easy!

I had a disposable waterproof camera with me but it was very difficult to take pictures with it as I couldn't really see through the viewfinder while wearing the goggles. I never bothered having the film developed as I am pretty sure none of the pictures came out nicely. This experience has made me determined to buy a waterproof digital camera before my next cruise. It will be useful at WDW too as it always seems to rain when we go so we will be able to take pictures there without worrying that the rain will ruin our camera. :lmao:

I have no idea how long I was out snorkeling but it must have been about 45 minutes at least. Time just flew by while I was out there.

When I got back to shore Mom took my picture.

wow that water was very blue, almost looks like you dont need a snorkle to see the reef

I'm glad to know that you had such a great time snorkeling. I've always wanted to do it, and tried once at Castaway, until a small jellyfish came face to face with me-then that was it. Maybe one day I'll get the courage to try again. It's very cool that they provided the lesson for you, as well as the information about the sea life! Very, very neat!
