So, now I have the great rate at Comfort Inn LBV (thanks DisneyandResSox!!!). There seem to be lots of bad reviews, some okay reviews and reports of a renovation. Anyone stayed there recently?? Mostly I just want a clean, comfortable place to spend the night while my family packs everyday full of Disney adventures. That being said, we've always stayed on Disney property so I know I've been spoiled by the likes of Wilderness Lodge and Beach Club. We will have a car, but I'd rather not drive to and from parks- although I know this may be what's best- and I wonder about using the Comfort Inn shuttle or other resources. We're pretty adept to using Disney transportation, but this "'out of the world" thing will be new to us. Help!

I can't say how this motel is now. However, I would highly suggest driving to the parks especially if you have parking vouchers. Its an easy drive, and off-property shuttles can be a bit spotty.

My sister really liked the Holiday Inn at Lake Buena Vista which is nearby.

Parking vouchers??? what are they.. how do I get them?

I never heard of them either but I'm pretty sure we won't be getting them staying at the comfort inn for $29/night! Parking is $14 day at the parks which isn't THAT bad. But if you have an AP then parking is free.

Depending on how many days you're planning to go to the parks the free parking may make it worth it to buy an AP for someone in your group, especially if you are making another trip within 12 months.:thumbsup2 Thats what we're doing. I also suggest driving to each park. I have heard that offsite shuttles can be painful. Driving is really great and you'll get a better lay of the land for your future trips. It will make you a truely experienced Disney traveler!

I'm feeling the same way about the Comfort Inn, we also only stay onsite (in the past anyway). Looking at the reviews though anyone who specifically mentions they were in a rennovated room seems completely satisfied with their stay and most seem to have had their expectations far surpassed. I also though can not hear enough reassurance and would love to hear from each and every person that returns from a stay there!

I do have to say that the one thing that consisitantly gets a thumbs down on this place is the food so i have no plans to eat any meals here. We also have a car and there is a lot of dining in the area. I am familiar with the area atleast and I like this part of Orlando. Even when staying onsite we venture in this direction usually for a stop at ABC Liquor, Winn-Dixie and Walgreens!

Ohh this is long. I can't help myself, I'm really quite excited about our offsite trip. I'm looking forward to doing Disney a little differently than we usually do. It was starting to get kinda stale:scared1:

Oh and over on "slick deals" someone got their room for $29 and posted a video on youtube of their room. PM me if you want the link

Nevermind about the parking vouchers.

On my honeymoon, almost 18 years ago...we stayed at an off-property hotel that was in the Disney travel brochure. They were part of the good neighbor package. Anyway...on our 2nd day...we missed the bus and started driving. Part of our package included tickets/vouchers to park. It was a really dead part of the year and we were really glad that we drove. Our hotel was in the LBV area as well.

We decided to drive at the time because we thought it would be more of a hassle to try to figure out what time we had to leave the parks to get to the parking lot at a specific time. We just couldn't imagine arriving in the parking lot 5 minutes late and having to wait another hour for the bus to come back.

We last stayed at THAT Comfort Inn in 2002, and said NEVER AGAIN!

However, keep in mind that $29+$14 =$43. You may want to make sure that there are NO OTHER HIDDEN FEES!

That is still a bargain!

Here is a link to the Downtown Disney Hotels. These are actually on Disney property. I hear that at least one of these hotels is within walking distance to the Downtown Disney bus stops. Some of these hotels have real bargain rates.

We needed a room for one night after MNSSHP this past October, and found a $30 rate at this hotel. It exceeded EVERY expectation, and I wouldnt hesistate to stay here again. We had a renovated room. The carpeting looked brand new, as did the beds. A mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee maker are included. The bathroom was very clean, with a curved shower rod and what appeared to be a new shower head. They also have 24-hour gate security and a very friendly front desk staff. All in all, this is a fabulous deal for the price. If you're only seeking cleanliness, comfort, and a secure place to sleep, this is it. Enjoy your vacation! :goodvibes

I stayed here Oct 9 for 32.95 with tax before leaving for a DCL cruise the next day. The renovated room was nice and clean. I thought it was perfect for the price. We stayed in the bldg to the left of the checkin area. I think at least one bldg was under renovation. Ask for a renovated room that looks at the parking lot and is as far away from I-4 as possible. I stayed here in 2002 and knew that I couldn't handle the noise from I-4. That year I had to do a room change.
The pool areas looked nice Oct 9 but there is interstate traffic noise. I always spend all day in WDW so didnt use the pools.
I had a another night booked Oct 17 but they walked my reservation to the Rosen Shingle Creek Golf Resort. Which was fantastic! for $32.:)

Great to hear your good reviews! Thanks!!

We stayed there for 1 night in August and I don't think we'll go back. It wasn't really bad but it wasn't Disney property either. Like you, we're somewhat spoiled by Disney. If you are used to staying in the delux resorts you will be even less happy than we were. We stay in the value or moderate resorts with a delux every now and then for a night when the price is right. I don't think our room was a remodel if it was I'd hate to see the old rooms. My bed had sesame seeds in it, like the maid was eating a big mac while making the beds. I called up the office and they immediately sent 2 men up to change the sheets. While they were there I turned on the TV and there was no sound so they called up a 3rd guy to fix the TV. When the guys left with the sheets they took the comforters with them too and a month later I got a $125 bill on my credit card for them. For the price you can't beat it, I didn't feel dirty or concerned for my safety (except for when there were 3 men in my room). I think I'd try the Holiday Inn that the previous poster recomended.

If you are used to Disney, I don't think this hotel will measure up. We stayed there 3 years ago and never again. It was just too low budget to be comforting. There are times when a standard ol "Holiday Inn" type hotel is fine but, I consider this one less than that. More like a "Motel 6". Granted, I haven't been there in a while, once was enough. I would opt for the Hawthorn Suites which is across the road, it may be more expensive but it is a better hotel on every measure.

While the place is no Disney Resort hotel, it isn't a pretty good deal for $29. There are no hidden fee's either... no resort fee to hand over when checking in, free wi fi in the room.. I am here now and have been since Wed morning. I go home tomorrow. I have stayed here many times. Just since there renovations, I have stayed in Sept, Oct & now. I also will be back in Dec :thumbsup2 If it wasn't for this place with their great rates, I would not be able to make as many trips up as I do. I have stayed at Disney Deluxe hotels but also am one to save a buck when I am not going to be in the room much. This trip was my Black Friday shopping trip. Not only were we at the parks, but one night we weren't even in the room to sleep.. we were out shopping all night.. so why pay high rates just to shower and stay a few hours.. :thumbsup2

This place is clean, most of it is renovated & the staff are very friendly...

A Mickey fan.. glad to hear your stay was okay. No matter what the reports of this hotel are, I just can't get over the $29 rate!
We're experienced Disney travelers and although we'll miss the Disney resort feel, I think we'll be okay. I'm not above going over to the WL to hang out in their lobby to rest a bit or stopping off at the Poly to enjoy the hammocks or the BC to enjoy the beach chairs. I think we know our way around enough to enjoy our trip regardless of the bed where we lay our head- although it doesn't seem too bad based on some of the recent reports.
Our biggest hurdle is that we are used to staying at Disney resorts and using Disney transportation. We will have a car, but to drive everywhere just seems so wrong! However, I don't think the hotel shuttle will meet our expectations. The hours just don't seem to fit when we will want to travel. I'm frantically trying to figure out alternatives!!

:thumbsup2 You got the right idea.. go over and visit the deluxe resorts for your Disney fill and keep your pockets filled with your money.. you can spend it on the Red Sox tkts.. I live minutes from their Spring Training Stadium...:goodvibes but we only go to the Red Sox vs the Yankee games...:goodvibes...now back on topic.. I will be returning to that Comfort Inn Dec 19th for 4 nights, then back there again in Feb as well. I am trying to get a great rate for the week between Christmas & NYE.. but no luck so far.

We stayed there for a week in June 2008 and for the price it is OK. Not the best smelling or cleanest room I have stayed in but it served it's purpose. The breakfast was not very good and the shuttle was awful, we ended up driving every day. This year we needed one day off property and opted for the Hampton Inn down the street, so much nicer.

We stayed here over Halloween. We were pleased! We had never stayed offsite and my DH was a little worried. The room was clean, had a fridge, microwave and comfy beds :) I would totally stay there again!

I agree the food wasn't very good, but there is a lot of choices in the area.

I would recommend getting a car. It's a super easy drive to the parks. :)

I recently toured London and Paris and stayed at a hotel in Paris that was featured in the Independent Travelers Bargain Box. The hotel was advertised for 64 per night. The name was the Comfort Inn Bastille. I would like to tell you that maybe an average tourist wouldnt want to stay there because it was about l2 blocks to the Bastille and in the evening wasnt the best district. But I wanted to tell you was that the rooms were clean, small, well kept and the hotel manager made our three day stay a wonderful experience. He even mailed my packages home. He fought with the cab driver who charged us too much and made reservations for our airport travel home. You can stay at the fancy hotels and you are a number, but this little hotel off the beaten path would be my pick again. Thank You. I read Independent traveler faithfully and recommend it to all my friends.

So... seems like the room is going to be okay and we are going to want to drive rather than use the shuttle, we're happy about the fridge & microwave and won't plan to eat the breakfast offered at the hotel.

Now, how about the pool? I don't expect water slides and luxury, but will it suffice for my kids to take a dip after a day in the parks? (if it's warm enough- we'll be there in Feb, so you never know!). All I'm looking for is a clean pool that's not too crowded.

We are staying at the Comfort Inn LBV right now..it is very nice..must have had some major changes since the bad reviews...according to management all the rooms have been redone...all of the staff have been great...we checked in and were surprised by the rooms...clean roomy looks similiar to the pics of CSR on a bit smaller scale maybe...when we checked in the toilet was leaking like the wax seal wasn't done right..they immediately moved us to another room down the hallway...today our toilet stopped up within 10 mins the guy came up and plunged it and called the manager to tell him our toilet was leaking...they offered a new room or to fix the toilet but that we could not stay and not have something done they considered it a hazard...within an hour or so a person came and fixed it....I would book this hotel in the future and intend to do so soon....the pool is nice...not huge in the shape of a triangle(kinda)...big enough for kids and more....I would say try this hotel it is not like any other Comfort Inn I have stayed at in the past..
