Nov 2009 Family Reunion in Disney with pics! Final Update 3/22/10

I love the matching shirts (hopefully I can CASE em? Please, pretty please?) And I totally admire your patience on the skirt thing- you're a much better mom than I am, I think I probably would have lost it:rolleyes1 and that wouldn't have been very disneylike.

It looks like you're having an awesome day! Our last trip was great, but there was one day, our AK day, that just stands out in my mind as the perfect Disney day; it looks like y'all may have some of those this trip!
Can't wait to read more!

What a great start to your MK day!
You girls all looked so great in your matching shirts! Your photos are awesome!
Leighanna loves Splash, but was very scared the first time she rode it too!
Well, heck...I was scared my first time too!!!! But I was very proud of Devon for riding with us and liking it....I am sure Brookie will try it next time we go!!! Thanks so much about the shirts! It was fun making them!

Oh please CASE away....I can say with certainty that all of my outfits were CASES too. I am unfortunately not that creative...but I can copy real good!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2: I tried not to fight about clothing especially when I know Devon didn't want to wear it so she could be like the big girls. She wore everything else so I am not too upset. I was afraid she wouldn't wear anything I made...then I would have lost it!!! :rolleyes1 LOL...plus both girls are wearing their outfits to school so they are getting use!!! :yay:

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!

I made everyone outfits last year but this year only Brooklyn wanted a tee so I had a turkey applique that I used. The outline didn't line up with the feathers...opps...but I don't think you can tell! No one noticed today at school!!!

Happy Thanksgiving right back at you! That turkey shirt is ADORABLE!

Very cute!
Hope you guys all have a wonderful day tomorrow. :)

Perfect weather, low crowds, walking on rides...all very good. ::yes::

Oh yeah, I forgot to say we bought that towel, too. We like to get Disney towels just to use for every day, since they're nice and big.

A nice practical Disney souvenir. That's always a good thing.
I think it makes a wonderful souvenir too! Glad you knew how to spell that...lol! And Tiger liked it too....you'll see what I mean in the next installment! ;)

Hi All!
My photopass pics arrived today! Yaaa! I added some more pics to Post #48! :goodvibes

OK I am off to work on an update...be back soon!

Welcome Back! I left you as we exited Splash Mountain~

We rejoined our group and we decided we needed a Pirates adventure next! So off to Adventureland we went. I think we had a little potty break and I picked up a snack at the gift shop for the girls….gummy somethings….just enough sugar to hold them over…lol.

Hey they found the Pirates League!

WDWLeanne2009027.jpg

And here are some requisite pirate jokes...pirate:

What's a pirate's favorite socks? Arrrrgyle.

What does a pirate think happens at the end of time? Arrrrmageddon.

What's a pirate's favorite food? Arrrrrtichokes.

What's a pirate's favorite basketball move? Jump hook.

How do pirates make their money? By hook or by crook.

Pirates also had no line…where was everyone? There were people in the park but not on the rides…or else they were loading so fast that no line formed. Everyone wanted to ride pirates and so we boarded our boat! I had been practicing the Pirate Song…printed out the lyrics and everything but did not manage to memorize it. All I could remember was the “Drink up me hearties yo ho”! We warned Brook and Devon of the slight hill into the pirate battle area. They handled it well and it was their favorite part of the ride. It really is timeless. I love the dog holding the key and the pirate on the bridge and … sneak peaks at Captain Jack!!! We stalled at the end by Jack sitting in the chair enjoying the booty. I actually think it was because there was no line and they were waiting for people to walk up fast enough to board the outgoing boats! We off-loaded and walked through the fun gift shop!

Leanne’s girls were starving and lunch wasn’t until 12:45. I think it was only 10:30 or so at this point. So they decided to head over and get a yummy Dole Whip on the other side of Aladdin’ Carpets.

Trivia Question:
What animal spits at you on The Magic Carpets of Aladdin?

Answer: A Camel

The rest of the group decided to ride the Jungle Cruise and we would meet up after. There was actually a line here. It took about 15 minutes to get up to our boat! It was a fast moving line though…you never really actually stopped moving for more than a few seconds.

Here are some line jokes at the Jungle Cruise.... these crack me up...while in line you may hear....

"Those of you adventurers entering the world-famous Jungle Cruise, please notice there are two lines, one on the right and the other on the left. If you'd like to keep your family together, please stay in the same line. However, if there is someone in your family you'd like to get rid of, just put them in the opposite line and you'll never see them again.":rotfl:

"Ladies and gentlemen, your attention, please. Would the party that lost the roll of 50 $20.00 bills, wrapped in a red rubber band, please report to the turnstile ... we have good news for you. We found your rubber band.":rotfl2:

DisneyNov2009065.jpg

DisneyNov2009066.jpg

DisneyNov2009067.jpg

At this point Brooklyn was quite brave and everyone was looking forward to our “cruise” and corny jokes! We saw hippos and alligators and elephants and all that…plus the jokes! Especially at the end…it took forever to dock…we sat there for a good 5 minutes!

Some unloading humor for you...
As we approach, please notice that there's a dock on the left, and a dock on the right. But don't let it confuse you. It's a paradox.

Make sure you have all personal belongings with you... cameras, purses, small children... anything left on board will be thrown screaming to the crocodiles.

If you feel your feet getting wet as you leave the boat, you've probably gone out the wrong side. Don't fall in the water as you leave... we'll have to charge you extra.

Well folks, I hope you all enjoyed your trip around the jungle. I had such a good time- I'm going to go again! (low voice)... and again, and again, and again...

By now it was 11 am or so and our BTMRR fast passes were ripe!!! Leanne and the girls were waiting patiently on a bench when we got off the JC and we all headed back to Frontierland. I think the stand-by line for Big Thunder was only 15 or 20 minutes but we used our fastpasses anyways. Even Brooklyn was looking forward to this ride!

Trivia:
What ruined any chance of recovering the gold in the town of Tumbleweed (the story of Thunder Mountain)?

Answer: A flood

We went to the left at the bottom of the ramp and sat about mid-train. Our train took off and we enjoyed the ups and downs and arounds!!!

Sorry this is my only pic from this day on this ride...

WDWLeanne2009028.jpg

Brooklyn absolutely loved it and I kept encouraging her throughout the ride. Plus, the poor thing was wedged in between my hubby and I!!! :rotfl2: I love that it has so many lifts….great fun for kids! Obviously not the scariest of all but perfect for their age group! Unfortunately, my sister-in-law didn’t feel well afterwards and had to sit down for a little bit. I think they found a nice shady area down near the waterfront.

The older girls wanted to fit in the Haunted Mansion before lunch…so it was Kaylie, Aubrey, Sarah, Devon, Edmund and myself.

DisneyNov2009068.jpg

We told Devon the elevator part was dark and a little scary but all of it was make believe and just meant to be fun. Meanwhile everyone else hung out in Liberty Square listening to some singers entertain…perfect!

Q: What is the name of the vehicle that you ride in the Haunted Mansion?
Answer: Doomsbuggy

The ride was great and I love the dancing ghosts and how they board your Doomsbuggy at the end. We exited and found everyone at the town square area. :yay:

I looked at the lack of crowds and suggested that Edmund and his brother and sisters go check out Liberty Tree Tavern…Edmund loves their Thanksgiving “dinner” and for some reason I had a feeling they wouldn’t be booked. So our group split up and it turns out they were let right in without any ADR’s. I couldn’t believe it!

IMG_0461.jpg

Trivia Q:
How many lanterns are there on the Liberty Tree?

Answer: 13

It was about 12:15 pm and our ADR’s for Crystal Palace were about a half hour away. We made our way to the hub and took some pics…that’s when I realized Edmund had the camera. Luckily Leanne took lots of pics for me until I got the camera back after lunch.

Here we are on the way over to the "hub" area..
WDWLeanne2009030.jpg

WDWLeanne2009032.jpg

WDWLeanne2009033.jpg

So…we sat on a bench in relative quiet. We took a before and after pic of our tee-shirt change.

Before...
WDWLeanne2009034.jpg

and after...

WDWLeanne2009035.jpg

And suddenly a parade develops around us…it was so sudden and fun!!! We took some pics and then we were trapped on the inside with Crystal Palace on the other!!! Ahhhh! But no worries…they let us through during the dancing part. Brookie and I danced with Minnie for a while before making it all the way across the street.

We had a few minutes to get a new photopass pic of our group tees...we were all ready to meet Pooh and the Gang! The sky looks so dark in the pics but it wasnt really.

We checked in for our 12:50 ressies. I think we had to wait about 20 minutes…the place was hopping with people coming and going. The CM kept everyone busy with hula-hoops! It was so fun to watch the girls hula-hooping with the castle in the background. A lady came up to me at this point dying to know where we got our tees…she was so disappointed to find out she couldn’t buy them at a Disney store. And then a balloon floated over to me. Really…it just floated right up to me. I had no idea where it came from. I held onto it for a while waiting for its owner to arrive but no one did. Devon loves balloons so eventually she took over.

WDWLeanne2009062.jpg

Then our lighter/buzzer thingy went off and we were ushered into the CP!!! We had a nice table and sat down to rest a minute.
WDWLeanne2009063.jpg

The waitress took our drink orders and I can’t remember if it was then or after we got our food that Devon started crying. She realized there were going to be characters coming around and she didn’t want any part of it.:sad2: I told her to calm down and sit across the table where the characters weren’t going to pass by. I told her she didn’t have to meet Pooh and the gang but everyone else wanted to. With that she sat down. The food was pretty good and I was surprised. I don’t know…I guess I expected the quality to be lower but it was pretty darn good. I loved the desserts too!

Eeyore came by first and Devon stayed where she was and didn’t get too upset. Brooklyn loves characters and these fuzzy soft ones were great for her to hug.

WDWLeanne2009064.jpg

WDWLeanne2009086.jpg

Next came Tigger. He was wild with energy and antics. He took the towel off of our chair and pretended to be Super Tigger…he got a chair to fly on and everything…we were cracking up. He loved the Tigger tees!

Can you believe we forgot to get autographs? I can’t for the life of me figure out why I forgot the autograph books. They were right in my bag. Next up was Pooh. Boy was he soft and cuddly. His hugs swallowed three girls up!

WDWLeanne2009076.jpg

WDWLeanne2009078.jpg

WDWLeanne2009080.jpg

Brooklyn was obsessed with their noses....

WDWLeanne2009082.jpg

By the way...we did enjoy eating too...

I had to shuffle Brooklyn to the bathroom once or twice during our meal and go up with both girls…so I was up and down a lot. At one point the parade around the tables began when I was coming out of the bathroom…I joined in with Brooklyn and when I looked across the room….there was Leanne being led around the room with Tigger….oh my gosh I was cracking up….and he wouldn’t let go of her either! So funny…darn I wish I had my camera!

Things calmed down for a while and then the last character, Piglet, was making his way around the room. That’s when a miracle happened. Devon came around the table to tell me she wanted her picture with him. I almost fell out of my chair. Piglet of course is the smallest of the bunch and Devon was wearing him on her shirt. When Piglet arrived at the table I explained the for 6 years Devon has avoided any and every character meet and greet and that she has finally decided she wants to meet him. Well….I cried…really…she went up all by herself and hugged Piglet and got her picture and then all the girls joined in. Such a miraculous moment! With a couple more hugs and pics…off he went…with history changed forever.

WDWLeanne2009087.jpg

WDWLeanne2009089.jpg

WDWLeanne2009090.jpg

DESSERT!!!

DisneyNov2009073.jpg

And our last pic as we were leaving....

WDWLeanne2009091.jpg

DisneyNov2009074.jpg

Edmund arrived after that…they had finished their lunch and were waiting for us outside. I think they watched the show at the castle while we finished up.

IMG_0462.jpg

Thank you Leanne for the yummy Crystal Palace lunch…I will never forget it either…good times!!!

At this point, Leanne and her girls split off from our group. They were heading for Buzz and Main Street and then back to their hotel for a rest. We said our good-byes sadly. It was such a fun morning~ I wished it wouldn’t have ended.

Look I even have some of their Buzz Lightyear ride pics...
WDWLeanne2009092.jpg

WDWLeanne2009093.jpg

Our last plans included seeing Mickey’s Philharmagic and then heading home with the girls. Some of our group was staying all day, which was great for them, but Tour Guide Mike insists on half days or at least an afternoon rest with all children. He was absolutely correct!!! So we headed around the Castle…there was a show in front so we walked on the path to the right…I had never actually been on it…it leads right to Cinderella’s wishing well.

DisneyNov2009075.jpg

And we walked right into Philharmagic as it was starting.

Mickeys-Philharmagic_MThumb_4058.jpg

By the way, we still had that balloon and the CM said she would have it waiting for us as we came out of the show. We sat in the middle back a little to the side and enjoyed the show!!! Brookie decided 3-D glasses were not her thing so for any attraction with them she got to see the blurry 2-D version…hahahha. I love the show and the music and we all sung along…gee I hope we didn’t annoy anyone. :rolleyes1

And then it was time to go. The girls were NOT happy about leaving especially if everyone else was staying. We made our way back around the castle to discover they were roping off for the afternoon parade…oh noooo…I thought…it’s that late already??? The girls begged to stay so I shuffled the group right through Liberty Square to find a spot that wasn’t too crowded. We found an spot right near a snack cart which was perfect…the girls were really tired at this point so I had them sit under the rope and watch. I gave them left-over cookies from lunch and some water while they were waiting. I love the parade and it is pretty quick.

Had enough?????

Once it was over, Edmund and Dona and I and the girls headed home. They were tired and Devon was still upset to have to leave. The funniest was at the end of Main Street; we stopped to do a few parting shots.

Leaving MK behind....so sad...(and tired)...

DisneyNov2009108.jpg

DisneyNov2009112.jpg

DisneyNov2009113.jpg

Funny story....when we got home everyone kinda relaxed. I told the girls that they had to lay down in bed for awhile...even if they just watched TV. Well, Brooklyn asked if she could color because she wasn't at all tired. I agreed and when I checked on them about 5 minutes later...here's what I found....

DisneyNov2009116.jpg

Good thing they weren't "tired"! LOL...she slept with that blue crayon in her hand for a few hours.

DisneyNov2009117.jpg

Actually....Devon was faking sleeping cause when I mentioned to Sarah about swimming she popped right up! So we went in the bubble spa for 45 minutes! It was not a hot tub...just heated pool water with bubbles...boy did that feel great!

Then I think we ordered out Chinese when we got out...Sarah played pool and Brooklyn stayed asleep the whole night! I woke her up once to use the bathroom and that was it...she must have needed her beauty sleep!!!

So that was our first Magic Kingdom Day! What an amazing day! Tour Guide Mike was right on with his advice and touring schedule. I loved going as a huge group and hanging out with everyone all day...just a perfect day!!!!

Stayed tuned for the next installment...Our Second Magic Kingdom Day!

What a great day! Y'all look so cute w/ the CP shirts; they were cute before, but even better with all the models! I really teared up when I heard about Devon and piglet-what an incredible moment! I also love the baloon Devon pic:lmao:

Love the matching shirts, you guys look fantastic. I'm anxious to see how the crowds were during Jersey Week, because I am thinking about that week for our next vacation.
I was there the same week as Cathy and there was no real lines at all! It was great! Though I will say I think the yr before when we went the week before Thanksgiving the lines where slightly less but not much.

That shirt ad Brook of course are so cute!!!!!!

Yay Devon for going on Splash Mountain!!!!!! I got soaked when I road it with the kids this yr I mean SOAKED! It wasn't even at the end with the drop it was in the very beginning!! The kids LOVEd it! Me not so much! :rotfl:

Off to read the new update!

What a fantastic day, I love the photos of Brooke with the characters, so cute, and how wonderful that Devon finally decided to get close to Piglet :goodvibes

For a Disney hater Edmund sure looked like he had a good time! He had a smile on his face in almost every picture!:thumbsup2

I cried reading how Devon finally warmed up to the characters!!

As for Brook and not liking the 3d glasses could it be she has a hard time seeing things in 3d? I know she had the same eye issues as I do and I can't always see 3d. I ahve to really concentrate to see 3d. When you have a lazy eye you usually only see out of one eye at a time(monovision) so 3d is hard to see. For me the worst one is Muppets. It is usually a blurry mess for me.

LOVED the update!

Awwwwwwww....... LOVE the Piglet story. Thanks for sharing it with us! What a moment! :goodvibes
It was amazing and you'll see that she was in every character meet after this too! She really loved them!

Thanks so much...the tees were so fun to sew. I used my friend Heather Sue's designs! She sells on Etsy...wait am I allowed to say that? :confused3 In any case, I am so glad the tee and the big girls gave Devon the confidence to meet Piglet!!

I think thats just it...they soak you at the beginning with the other flumes going down! Its a good thing it was warm because we did a little wet and my dh soaked! :rotfl2:
The lack of lines was heart warming I tell ya!

What a fantastic day, I love the photos of Brooke with the characters, so cute, and how wonderful that Devon finally decided to get close to Piglet :goodvibes
It was an unforgetable day! Its funny how she just changed her mind about the characters but I think it made for a better trip for her!

For a Disney hater Edmund sure looked like he had a good time! He had a smile on his face in almost every picture!:thumbsup2

He did like it as a matter of fact...he even went with us on the last day too! I still don't think he would have like to be following us around everyday but as long as everyone was happy it was worth it!
I think it was too intense or distracting too with the glasses :3dglasses And as you said...she probably doesn't see anything. LOL about the Muppets!

I hear you about Edmund! George likes to have some time just to relax wen we are there and we all are much happier for it! At least Edmund is coming around!:dance3:

As for the 3d glasses maybe when she gets older she can explain her reasoning. It could be anything! LOL
