Cass, Rob and Kira back in Disney! Toddlers' tempers and tantrums *Final Video!1/06*

Have a great party. Are you having a princess party? Great Photopass pictures. Wow!! How can you choose which is the best. They are all great.

Day 9 Part 1

October 23rd - Packing up and driving to Port Canaveral

We didn't do too much on this day. We wanted Kira to sleep in, which she did. I think she woke up sometime between 9:30-10:00 am so she got a decent sleep.

Rob woke up and got ready and then him and Kira went to Waffle House for breakfast. Rob loves Waffle House so he really wanted to make sure he took Kira at least once on this trip. I wasn't in the mood for breakfast at a restaurant and so I stayed at the condo and got laundry done and started to pack up. There used to be a Waffle House really close to Windsor Hills on the 192 but we noticed it was closed, so they ended up going to the one we passed on the 192 down near the Walmart we went to.

I thought he took some pics but I can't seem to find them right now? :confused3

So I spent a couple of hours cleaning and packing. Man, we sure had a lot of crap to pack up! :scared1: For some reason we ran out of dryer sheets so before we could finish, we had to hit a store.

Rob and Kira got back from breakfast and we decided to go to the Target that we saw the other day while looking for the Waffle House. It is about 5-6 minutes west on the 192, very close actually!

9-2.jpg

It looked like a brand new Target and it was awesome!!!!!!!!!! :worship:

It was HUGE and super clean and had everything we needed including my hairspray which I can only buy in a salon here in Calgary!

Just before we left for this trip, I had bought Kira some Dora fruit snacks for the first time. Well, it ended up that she LOVED these! I packed 3 boxes of these for the trip and they worked out great for quick snacks.

Well, when we were at Walmart, I had found the same kind of fruit snacks but they were Mickey Mouse and Princess themed!!! :goodvibes Well, she loved these ones even more than the Dora ones!

So while we were at Target, I loaded up on both the Mickey ones and the Disney Princess ones. I had intended to bring them all home but she ended up eating most of them on the ship (more about that later).

So after the shopping we headed back to the condo to let Kira nap while we finished doing laundry. We had already separated the twin beds in her room so she had her nap in our nice big King bed, she sure liked sleeping in Mommy and Daddy's bed

I think she slept for over 2 hours, which was long for her and then we packed up the rest of our stuff.

We actually had the condo until Saturday morning but I didn't want to drive to the Port in the morning. This worked out well because they ask you to at least throw in a load of towels into the washer before you leave so we were able to do ALL of the laundry that we left and put everything back where it was.

There was no way we could have done that AND get packed up AND loaded the van AND be gone by 10am, so I am glad we left a day early!

Day 9 Part 2

October 23rd - Packing up and driving to Port Canaveral

I was starving by this point and was looking forward to lunch at Earl Of Sandwich so we drove to Downtown Disney for lunch and shopping.

This was the hottest and most humid day of all!! :scared: I was sooooo glad that we weren't doing a park because I would have been Miss Cranky Pants if I was stuck in that heat and humidity all day! :faint:

We parked the van and got Kira out and settled and then Rob had some problems with the alarm on the van. It wouldn't lock when he hit the button so I found some shade for Kira and I while he tried to fix it. It wasn't working so Rob had to lock the van with the key.

9-4.jpg

We brought Kira's balloon with us because we told her that we couldn't take it on the ship with us so we were going to try to find a little girl to give it to. She was actually really good about this and was really sweet about the whole thing.

Just as we were about to cross the road from the parking lot, I stopped because behind us was a little girl in a stroller, not much older than Kira.

I asked the parents if their girl would enjoy having a balloon and they said yes so we untied it and let Kira pass it to the girl. I was so proud of my girl, she didn't freak out or say no, she passed her the balloon and said "Here you go!"

The funny thing was that we found out that the little girl, who was the proud new owner of a Mickey balloon, was also named Kira.

Off we went to EOS. Rob and Kira got a table while I got us our lunch. I looked over at Rob and noticed that he was totally stressed. I guess she was acting up and after the week in WDW, he was at the edge of insanity by now

9-5.jpg

It took awhile for lunch to be ready and I thought she was melting down because she was hungry but even after she started eating she was difficult at best!

9-6.jpg

So we rushed through lunch and hit the Toy Store!

9-7.jpg

I went in search of some Princess stuff for my girls while Rob took Kira to look at toys and to play with Mr. Potato Head.

I was a little disappointed this trip in the stuff they had for sale. They had the typical princess dresses and high-heeled shoes (what is up with heels and toddlers?????? ) but they didn't have too much else. They had tons of Fairy stuff but the girls aren't into them just yet. I did find a couple of things for them but mostly, I came out disappointed. They hardly had any clothes for toddlers, I found one cool Princess shirt but it had stuff on the front of it that I don't think would last past 2 or 3 washes.

When I found Rob, Kira was playing with a monorail :lmao: We did end up buying her a little monorail but now that she's home, she never plays with it

Go figure.

Kira was rather grumpy by now so we figured it was time to go.

We had a one-hour trip to the port but it felt like 3 hours because Kira was acting up. I think she just hated being in the car seat. She never was a kid to just sit in a car and be happy to take a drive somewhere.

Rob and I had never been so darn happy to go over those cool bridges and see the port ;)

We found the Residence Inn and I stayed with Kira while Rob checked-in, lucky duck! :rolleyes1

Waiting for Rob...
9-8.jpg

Wow, I was so stressed by the time he came back! I tried every trick in the book to end this meltdown but nothing worked!

Rob came back and he started to tell me about our room but we couldn't hear anything over Kira screaming so we got out of the van and just shut the doors and talked outside.

We could see her and still hear her but we both just needed to get out of that environment, even just for 5 minutes. It was so bad that we both just had to laugh about it! It was our little princess at her worst! We had never seen her like this before :scared:

So after figuring out where the room was and the best way there, we (gulp!) got back into the van and parked. She was thrilled to come out of the car seat and once I handed her her Tink bag, all was right in the world again!

9-9.jpg

We lugged all our crap through the lobby and found our room on the first floor, as requested. Walked in the room and was happy to find a gorgeous room!

We originally were booked at the Radisson for $156 in a mini-suite, as they call it, but a few months before we left there were some security issues with their system and some people who had booked with them had their credit card info stolen and charges were made to them. The CC I had used for booking was now expired but I didn't feel comfortable with the whole thing so I ended up cancelling with them and booking at the Residence Inn.

This was a fabulous decision as I loved everything about this hotel! We got a similar type suite for less ($125) AND it included a nice breakfast, which was not included at the Radisson. It was right next door, even closer to the port and I liked the layout MUCH better than the Radisson. The Radisson is huge and the last time we stayed there our room was way at the back and it was so far away from the lobby and pool! Here's some room pics....

This room was perfect for us! Kira loved exploring the room and was much happier now!

Just as we were opening up a suitcase to find our swimsuits, Nancy texted me to see if we had arrived yet.

We were meeting up with Nancy, Chuck, Tony, Stacy, Mike & Robin at the pool :cool1:

Our room was awful at the Radisson, which we had moved too.

Day 9 Part 3

October 23rd - Packing up and driving to Port Canaveral

We changed into our swimsuits and headed down to the pool. We found the whole gang there and joined them. Kira wanted to swim so her and I had a little pool time. She got cold quickly so we wrapped her up in towels and she sat with Chuck.

9-18.jpg

We chatted for a bit, it was really great to see everyone again :goodvibes

Kira wanted to go back into the pool so Chuck was sweet enough to take her in this time. I was glad that Kira felt comfortable enough with him because she really needs more male interaction in her life. They walked over to the hot tub but I can't remember if they went in or not but they did do a few laps around the pool while we chatted.

9-20.jpg

It was really sweet to see them together. Nancy and Chuck sure are going to make fabulous grandparents!!!!

9-19.jpg

Way too quickly, our time together was over as they were heading over to the Radisson to meet up with some BOBers. Kira was done for the night so we just went back to the room.

Rob was a sweetie and went to the RaceTrac store for me for some Coke Zero and he also picked up some ice for me at the front desk. If I remember correctly he said there was no ice machine because each room had a fridge with an ice maker but ours only had about 8 cubes in it and it was taking forever to make more!

Kira was excited about getting her bed ready!

9-21.jpg

I think Rob gave her a bath and then we got into jammies and I layed with her for awhile.

9-22.jpg

She was asleep in less than 5 minutes :cool1:

We ate the rest of our lunch from Earl of Sandwich (we wrapped up half our sandwiches and left because Kira was flipping out) and they were even better as leftovers! :goodvibes Plus I also got a brownie there too and it was delicious!!!!!!!!!!!! Made me wish I had gotten two :rolleyes1

It was nice having our own room with a door we wouldn't wake up Kira. We snacked and watched a movie until we were just too tired to stay awake.

The bed was wonderful as were the pillows

Normally I don't sleep well the night before the cruise but I slept like a baby. :thumbsup2

From now on when we cruise, we will always stay at the Residence Inn. ::yes::

Looks like the folks behind you were trying to get in on your family pic Cass. :lmao:

I do love this picture though. I think it's one of my favorites along with the one with Belle. :cutie:

We too liked the Residence Inn. I thought the place was gorgeous and the family loved their breakfast on Saturday morning. We'll definitely stay there again. :thumbsup2 We also received a letter from the Radisson about the breach in security on our credit card but luckily we weren't one of those who had any purchases done on ours. We cancelled the card shortly after receiving their letter. :upsidedow

I'm bummed that we never got to eat at EOS on this trip. We were headed over there on the Saturday after the cruise but the line was out the door! We opted for Rainforest instead. Immediate seating....can't beat that for noon on Halloween Saturday. :cool1:

Yay! You're getting into the cruise part of your trip just when I need it most! (7 days and counting for us!)

Love the pictures. It's funny, though seeing you in tees and shorts while Rob looks like he's ready for a long winter! :rotfl:

All the pics are sweet, but I especially LOVE the one with Kira and the coach. How magical! She really looks like a princess ready to take a ride!

I'm glad you liked the Residence Inn as much as we did Nancy and I am sorry you didn't get to eat your jerk chicken sandwich :sad1:

Rob's always ready and dressed for winter  :lmao: We are going to need a whole suitcase just for his long underwear when we do the Alaska cruise :rotfl2:

Wow, almost cruise time for you!! :cool1:

All the pics are sweet, but I especially LOVE the one with Kira and the coach. How magical! She really looks like a princess ready to take a ride!

She even tried to climb up the coach after the picture :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Come on Cass... that's the "Mom... this thing was giving me SUCH a wedgie" Look... :rotfl: :rotfl:

Well I knew something was up her butt :upsidedow

I am about to begin the cruise portion of our trip but before I do I wanted to post a little warning.

This cruise was NOT the cruise we wanted or planned for. Most of it was not because of DCL but because we all got sick. No matter how many times we washed our hands every day and took precautions to not get sick, Rob woke up sick the morning we boarded the cruise and then he passed it on to Kira and I later during the week.

This was tough on me because when Rob gets sick, he needs sleep and he basically slept for the first 3 days and I was alone with Kira. It didn't help that I was already stressed due to the fact that we just had a rough week in WDW dealing with Kira. I also had some problems with our stateroom host the first few days and basically I was just run down and had a little meltdown myself. :rolleyes1

So for those of you who haven't cruised before, don't let any of my less than stellar moments on the ship discourage you from trying a cruise. I still highly recommend cruising, particularly with Disney, and although this was a tough cruise for all of us, we have had fabulous experiences on the Magic in the past.

And to those of you who only like to read positive and happy trip reports and refuse to hear any negatives about Disney please stop reading now. ;)

Ok, you've all been warned :thumbsup2

Day 10 Part 1

October 24th - Disney Magic

When I woke up Rob was in Kira's bed. Apparently she woke up in the middle of the night and he went to cuddle her. When Rob woke up he said he was sick. He looked and sounded fine to me but he claimed that Kira had a fever in the middle of the night and she got him sick.

:confused3

I told him that he needed to think positively but he just went on and on about being sick. Rob is paranoid about getting H1N1 and as soon as he woke up he was convinced that he had it. It was set in his head that he had it and nothing was going to convince him otherwise. He focused only on being sick, thinking about where he got sick, how he got sick, who got him sick, that the cruise was ruined now because he was sick, etc., etc.

Basically he turned into someone I didn't know. I know he's going to read this and get a little upset but it's the truth.

I love him madly, always have and always will but I must admit that the next 8 days were really tough dealing with him. In his defense, I was no prize that week either because the stress and his attitude and dealing with Kira all by myself really got to me and I became very grumpy and I was very short with him.

So while I won't mention the strain there was between us that week in this trip report again, it was there all the time and made it hard to enjoy a lot of stuff that we normally enjoy together.

Ok, back to our day.

We woke up around 8 and got showered and ready.

Kira and Rob in the lobby

10-1.jpg

Breakfast was served just off the lobby and I was actually very impressed! They had a lot of choices and it was really good! The only thing missing was a meat, they really needed some bacon or ham.

10-2.jpg

10-3.jpg

The eggs were delicious and the potatoes were pretty good too!

10-4.jpg

Back to the room so we could get all packed up. Sean and Bernie were going to be meeting us at the front of the hotel at 9:30 so we needed to get going!

10-5.jpg

We were just dragging our luggage out to the van as we saw S & B and B. They had a new addition to their group since the last time we saw them as Gary, their oldest, had flown in the night before. It had been quite awhile since we had seen Gary. He's 19 now and he has his own life and a girlfriend and I honestly couldn't remember the last time I had seen him! I had to laugh because he had this big bushy beard on him now :lmao: We've known him since he was just a little kid so seeing him like that just threw me

So we all got organized and headed for the port together. We were a little early so I knew we would have to wait but that was OK, we were all excited about getting on the Mickey Ship as Kira calls it :goodvibes

Only a few minutes later and we were arriving at the port. As we pull into the Disney area, you could tell that they were getting serious about making some changes for when the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy arrive (DCL's new big ships!) because there was construction everywhere!

We pulled in and asked the guy where we needed to go and he said "At the second light, take a LEFT" so I clarified "Second light, LEFT!" and he nodded his head.

So we start driving and get to the second light and there is no left!

You either go right into what looked like a shipping area or you go straight which brings you all the way down and then back again.

Five minutes later, we ended up back at the DCL port talking to that same guy. I told him that we didn't find it. This time he said at the second light, take a RIGHT.

:rolleyes2

Dude, you told me LEFT!

He said that he doesn't know why he would tell me LEFT when it's a RIGHT.

He told me to take a right into the DCL temporary parking lot.

I said, "OK, this time I will turn RIGHT into the DCL parking lot. Is it clearly marked?"

He said "No".

LOL, ooooooook.

This time we took a RIGHT and we entered a parking lot and hoped that it was the right place. :thumbsup2

As soon as we pulled in I saw some other BOBers waiting in their cars so I knew this was the right place!

We got out and visited with our fellow cruisers until we noticed someone leaving and we all jumped into our cars and drove over to the DCL port.

For those of you who are driving and are getting to the port early, the temporary parking lot can be seen in this pic. ;)

Day 10 Part 2

October 24th - Disney Magic

We got to the drop-off area, which is now the same as the taxi/shuttle area so it was a little chaotic.

The plan: Drop us off and all our checked luggage while Rob and Sean drive to Avis to return the vehicles and then they hop on the shuttle bus to get back to port.

This was a good plan because I was worried that Rob would get lost on his own without his trusty navigator, moi!

So we are taking our luggage out, the porter was grabbing it for us and Rob was trying to take the car seat out as well and with all the craziness, this took a lot longer than expected. Finally the van was empty except for Rob's laptop bag, I tipped the porter and Rob went to find Sean.

By this time there was a nice group of BOBers there and we all went in the port area together.

This turned out to be a wonderful thing because Lori and Cath and their kids were with us and Kira immediately searched for Julia and hung onto her for dear life. Poor Julia, she had a fan whether she wanted one or not :lmao:

With only ONE person checking ID's, it took forever! We then entered the building and got in line for the security check.

Kira was great this whole time because she was with Julia and Harrison and was on :cloud9: We made it to the front and Kira went through and she beeped! I took off her button and she went through again and no beeping this time!

Up the escalator and we were all directed into the Castaway Club line which was really quite long by now. I looked over at the Non-US citizen line which was empty

We got to see a whole lot of BOBers and it was really nice to see some familiar faces and some new ones too! :goodvibes

Finally got up to the front and we just all went up together (with Bernie and Bailey and Gary) and they checked us in together.

I just want to say how thankful I am that Lori, Cath and their kids stayed with us the whole time! It made it so much easier on me because Kira got to play with Harrison and Julia and she was a happy camper even though the lines were really long!

10-7.jpg

We got our Silver Castaway Club lanyards which were horrible! They were so itchy because they have an adjustable strap now. I didn't like them at all! I much preferred the old ones that didn't adjust.

We joined the BOBer group over near the chairs and tv's and we waited for Rob and Sean to return so we could go get our photos taken, which is a new thing they are doing.

We waited and waited and waited, all the while the line for pictures got really long!!

Finally Sean showed up but Rob was nowhere to be found.

Of course I got worried that he got lost somewhere. It was a good 30 minutes later that he finally showed up! I guess he never found Sean or they got separated or something, never did catch the full story.

I sent him to check-in and get his key to the world card and then it was time for us to get in the huge line for cards because they were starting to board already!

Kira had been pretty good this whole time just sitting with some girls and watching tv. In fact she made friends with a girl who even shared her toys with her which I thought was so sweet!! But we had to get in line and she was NOT happy about leaving the toys behind.

She started to flip out a little :scared:

10-8.jpg

I used to be glad that I wasn't the mom of the kid that was rolling on the floor having a cow

10-9.jpg

To pass the time, I took her to see Mickey.

After looking at it again, I have no idea why I bought this $10 photo when mine turned out just fine.

dcl-kira-mickey.jpg

10-10.jpg

After about 25 minutes we made it to the front and got our pics taken

10-11.jpg

By this time, they had just called boarding group 7 which was us so we just got in line with the masses and swiped our cards for the first time.

10-12.jpg

Another line-up for the welcome aboard pic and then it was time to get on the ship!
