Resort Refil Mugs

Hi. Does anyone else take the refillable resort mugs with them when they go to WDW or does everyone buy new one's each time.

I don't want to sound tight-fisted but I don't want to throw them away -and I don't want to come home with four more either!!!

I really couldn't be bothered trailing a mug all that way to save $12-13 but we only bought 1, I prefer bottled soda from Publix than fountain, always tastes watered down, too warm, or flat to me, rarely got a good drink out of them.
We were onsite 16 nights this August and DS probably didn't drink enough to be worth it. 2L Coke/Pepsi at Publix were 99cents + lots of free drinks on DDP. I am not sure we will even buy 1 mug next year.

Totally against Disney rules taking them back another trip and they do change the designs, they were different from our May trip to August. They were just starting to change them in May.

I've seen loads of people using old mugs and nothing is ever said, we buy new ones but also take old ones so that we can fill up several to stop us having to make numerous trips in the evening.

No, I would never take our old mugs to use! If I didn't want four new ones I would just purchase two and either bring them home or chuck them before we came home!

I don't take my old mugs back, we get new ones each trip. We definately get our monies worth each time we buy new ones, then we bring the mugs back and use them at home. Like Wayne has said it is against Disney policy to bring old mugs back. The mugs now do state on them they are valid for the duration of your stay at the resort you bought them at.

I have seen lots of people take old mugs and they must be years old as they are resort specific. If you can be bothered taking them back go for it

In Cpt Cooks we sat next to the drinks machines, people were filling old mugs, BK cups, anything you can think of. Worst thing was a cast member using a McD cup, if they do it how do they expect guests to stick to the rules.
They really need to clamp down on it, until they do people will abuse the system.

this is a popular thread on the resort board, and causes lots of contreversy, i agree with wayne, we had them last year, and unless you spend alot of time at the resort, or drink massive amounts of coffee (like dh and I) then not really worth the money.
we will buy new ones next year, we will have 2, one for soda and 1 for coffee, this allows us to get bottled water with CS bfast. although i suspect as we have a kitchen, more bfasts will be had in room next year....

We love the resort mugs and get plenty of use out of them (might be different next year as we are DDP) but we always leave them as they are probably not any use back home! We enjoy them!

I love having the mugs to use after our trip! I work at a school and the kids always comment on the mickey mug. It reminds me of my trips every time I use them.

We've bought mugs for 3 years running now, even if I could get a coffee in my room each morning (with DVC you don't get housekeeping everyday so no tops ups on coffee) a small cup is not enough and it doesn't stay warm. With the refillable mugs you can take them with you to the parks and get a top up of soda on the way back in the evening.
We also use them everyday for coffee - nice reminder of our holiday.

You are not supposed to bring them back for another trip, I personally can't see why anyone would go to all that trouble either if you're going to Disney another $13 doesn't make much difference

Agreed. We like to have the souvenier when we get back.

If you stay for more than 5 days, you will make up the money you spent and then some, instead of buying the sodas OOP.

Personally I would take them back and in the past have done. Dont see the problem.
This time we get free with the QSDP so will not bother taking our old ones back - but would have otherwise.
Last September there were Americans in CBR refilling the really old ones that looked like pint mugs and no one batted an eyelid

If you want to pack them go for it. Disney pay next to nothing for the stuff you drink anyway

As Gems says that isn't the point. I am in business myself, somethings I make little profit on other things I get free and make 100% profit on, just because I get it free does not allow anyone to come in and take it from me.
