Disney's Magical Express -- Luggage Tag Info

I thought I had seen this before, but I couldn't find the answer again. We are wanting to use a town car service from the airport for transportation, but can I still use DME to transport my luggage. Is there any procedure we need to follow to do this? Not having to wait for luggage would be wonderful, but my DS would be miserable if he had to ride for the trip to the resort with a crying child, and he does have the ability to attract crying children in his immediate space. :rotfl: Thanks for the answer.

The old FAQ for Disney's Magical Express FAQ had the following Q&A:

Q. Can I reserve a “luggage-only” transfer?
A. No. To utilize Disney’s Magical Express, you must participate in both the motor coach transportation and the luggage transfer service.

Unfortunately, when they redesigned the site, that question didn't make it to the new one.

Hello there!

Could someone either redirect me to the right thread or tell me about the non DME luggage tags? I called Disney and ironically found that the boards had more accurate info!

:worship:

So here's the deal. We're not taking DME. We're renting a towncar. I just received two cool blue luggage tags in the mail with Cinderella's castle. I love them and really want to use them, not only because they're so lovely but it really will help us to identify our bags.

My worry is based on what the Disney rep told me over the phone (although she didn't really know and based this on what someone else told her). She said that all Disney tags would get automatically routed. :scared1: I told her there was no info or bar code or anything, so I thought the tags are souvenier tags. She advised marking NOT DME or something, 'just in case'.

For all you wonderful Disney veterans, what's the low down? Can I use them safely or not?

Thanks in advance!!

Shouldn't be an issue. They aren't even close to the same as the yellow DME tags. No way will they be pulled out in error. Go ahead and use them..they'll be there, waiting for you at baggage claim.

Is it possible to bring an extra kid on the return ME to airport if the kids is not registered in my room? My friend will be staying offsite for a conference. We are coordinating a trip so I can take her daughter back home with us while she stays for few extra days after we leave.

Sorry I haven't read this whole thread, any info is appreciated.

Sorry, but the answer is no. DME is a function of resort reservations, and can be used only by people named on the resort reservation. Any chance you can put this kid onto your room reservation for the last day without putting you over the allowable number of people for the room?

I made a WDW reservation a few months ago. I did not tell the reservation agent that we wanted to use ME. We are now considering using it. Is it too late? Can I call them now and tell them that we watn to use ME? Thanks!

Yep. Just call. If you're less than 60 days from your trip, call DME directly at 866-599-0951. If farther away than thatm call 407-W-DISNEY.

Hey everyone! Quick question (skimmed through the pages but couldn't find an answer!), does anyone know if new luggage tags are needed if flight information changes..or can I still use the ones that I've already received? My airline is still the same but the flight number+time has changed.

Any info is appreciated, thank you!

Nope, not really needed. I don't call DME with any new info unless it's hugely different..like an arrival time that is more than 8 hrs off. Your tags will be just fine as is.

The information that's important on the luggage tags is your resort. The tags determine where the bags are taken after they arrive in Orlando. The flight they come in on isn't important.

The airline will put their own label on to make sure it gets on the right flight, and to the right destination.

I've stayed on site many times but never used ME. I'm sure someone has asked this, but I can't find it. I got my yellow tags yesterday for my trip in January, but have just changed resorts. The CM changing my ressie told me to just cross out POR and add WL, but that seems sketchy to me what with the barcodes, etc. Should I call ME directly and get new tags, etc?

Hi there! Although I've been to WDW over 15 times in 16 years and have been a premium annual passholder for 7 of those years, I'm about to use DME for the first time on Dec. 12th. I'm flying MCO from San Diego with short stop overs in Los Angeles and Cleveland. Has anyone had issues with luggage being retrieved after multiple connecting flights or am I just paranoid that the yellow tag is going to be torn off by accident at one of the three airports before MCO? Hopefully the multiple connection thing wont impede DME from getting a hold of our luggage. Also, if our luggage doesn't arrive at the resort, can I call DME and find if they've located it? If not I'd have to deal with Continental directly. Less than 10 days to go....can't wait...

It shouldn't matter to DME....it does add a few more steps into the mix when you make connections. But as long as the bags get to MCO, DME will get them. When you check in at DME, upon arrival into MCO, DME CMs will ask you how many bags you checked...that way they will know how many bags to expect and to look for on your behalf.
If your bags don't make it to the resort (which doesn't happen very often at all!!) yes, DME will track them for you.
