Split Stay Question

How annoying is to move mid-trip? Does it take a lot of time out of your day? We will have a car.

So tell me the pros and cons please!

Did it once - would definitely do it again. Having a car makes it a piece of cake and not that time consuming. To me, it's easier when the kids are a little older, meaning you pack a little lighter without all of the baby/toddler necessities.

With a car? It's extremely simple.

I actually pack up early in the AM, drop off my luggage at the next resort and check in. Both times I've gotten a room right away.

If your new room is ready you get it then if not head out to a park and they text you the room number.

So simple... feel like a geico commercial!

I have done this many times. It is only as annoying as you let it be. Especially with a car, it should take minimal time.

We have done this on several trips, without having a car. The resort simply sends your luggage over to the other resort. We check out in the morning, head to a park. When we take our afternoon break, we check in at the new resort and have our luggage delivered to the room. It has never been a problem.

Moving is easy if you don't bring a bunch of stuff and only move once during your stay it is fine. DW and I did three moves in one stay and I would have to vote against more than one move in a stay.

If you can't get the rooms and need to move around in order to go I would but if it can be avoided I would limit it to once.

We've done 4 split stays and have a fifth booked for next year:). I pack our suitcases so that we can leave one packed at the first resort, which saves time packing for the move. I am the one responsible for handling all of it, and it doesn't bother me at all. I love getting two resort experiences in one trip:).

I'm moving 4 times when I go in a week or so. I hand my bags off to Bell Services first thing in the morning, and then head off for the day. I return to my new resort around midday, and get checked in.
With a car it's a no brainer...just pack up the car and drive to the next resort. That's actually the very best way to do it...little time is wasted and if you have the right car, you can leave everything in the trunk until you get into your room, which saves you tipping for baggage delivery.

4 times! How long are you going to be there? We did it a few years ago,LOVED it!

Sorry, dear...Have to disagree with you on this one. I hated having to move during trips. Personally, I plan to avoid split stays in the future, unless it involves moving from WDW to Vero Beach.

Our first split stay will be in April 2010.

Here is our order:

WL
BWV
AKV
VB

We are there for a total of 13 days.

We will have a car a few days into the trip so I think it will be easy. We are looking forward to it! I have heard many positive stories on here from split stays.

Have fun!

We are doing a split stay during Christmas. Our first 3 days are @ pop and we have the dining plan. Then we are going deluxe to the Yacht Club for the remainder of our trip. This works for us because Christmas day we have res @ LeCellier this meal is worth the dining plan alone. I get the best of both worlds.

We almost always do a split stay (except last year with the 4+3 deal). Always have a car. Pack up (dirty clothes in one bag that we don't open again), drive to the next resort in the morning and check in. If the room is ready, great. If not, we head off to the park or DTD and get our room later in the afternoon. Our favorite split stay is GF and BC. Love the access to MK the first half of the trip; and access to Epcot and DHS for the second. The only con I can think of is that Disney considers it two trips, and you need to put a deposit down for both--so you pay a deposit for two nights instead of one.

Well I will be trying this split stay thing for sure!

Have 3 nights at AS Sports booked beginning 12/12 and then we move to POFQ for 3 nights! Can't wait!

Thanks everyone.
