Didn't waste any time on the ship after getting changed, we wanted to maximize our time in port. A quick scan of the Key to the World card and we were off the ship.
A nice person took a picture of Mom and I and I returned the favour.
Road Town was only a short walk from the ship, it took maybe five minutes to get into the town. First we had to go through "security". It was basically some guards checking to make sure that you had a photo id and your cruise ship boarding card as they will not let you back onto the dock unless you have both of those id's. The guard who checked mine warned me not to lose them or I would be stuck on Tortola. I laughed and said there could be worse things than getting stuck in paradise.
Our main goal on this expedition was to track down a drug store to get some cough drops and medicine. I think Mom asked every single person that we passed where we could find one.
The first place that we got directed to was more of a pharmacy counter where you pick up prescriptions than a regular drug store so they did not have what we were looking for so our search continued. We were told to go two blocks back from the main road and there would be a drug store next to the post office.
Once we left the main road the streets became very narrow and there were no sidewalks so we had to be very aware of any traffic. There wasn't much though on the back streets.
Well remember how we were told that the drug store was next to the post office? Well Mom made sure to ask a lady standing right in front of the post office where the post office was.
We found the "drug store" right next to it like we had been told. It was nothing like a drug store here in Canada or in the States but it served its purpose. We found some cough drops and Nyquil and it was pretty cheap too.
As soon as we left the store I popped a cough drop and we made our way back to the main road.
The police station, if you are ever in Tortola and in need of the police the main station is easy to find.
