So What's Coming to the New Pleasure Island?

Epcot has guard towers in the parking lot too. What does that have to do with anything? Aren't they for traffic control?

I want to know when the razor wire is being put up since it's such a hotbed of criminal activity with everybody wanting to sing and possibly maybe even -g-a-s-p- dance! All you heathens should be in orange jumpsuits and ankle bracelets while we are at it.

Downtown Disney is safer than nearly any other public place. The clubs being there or not being there did not change that. Sure there may be fewer incidents of disorderly conduct now but there never were many to begin with! I've heard people make reference to guard towers out in the parking lot but if my recollection is correct, the PI parking lot never had those. I think the few that exist are in the parking lots that serve the West Side.

We saw one all the way down by the first parking lot {the one just before the traffic light that leads to hotel row} 2 weeks ago.
I believe they move those things around to different areas of DTD as a deterent to whatever evil may lurk in the parking lots in general. Also, I have seen them in different spots {they are portable} throughout all of DTD, from hotel row all the way to OKW.

OT: The gal who was Sugar Snap is on FL Lottery commercials. Noticed her on TV tonight. She is also on the FL Lottery web site.

Ugh, I was walking outside at work today between buildings and thinking about our upcoming Disney trip...1 month out...and got all melancholy all of a sudden thinking about PI and AC! This will be our first trip without it...I would give anything to have it back. (Well, not anything...but if someone told me I could put up $1000 and AC would come back into existence (and stay there), I would gladly pony up the money.)

Just needed to share....I'm sure many feel the same way about various club at PI.

It really was quite sad making that first trip to PI last December. As my last memories of my beloved Comedy Warehouse were a final picture with Mary, Philip, Jen & Lisa while sitting on a stool onstage after the last show of the evening. It was how I spent my 27th birthday & it was exactly where I wanted to be, enjoying the extremely inside jokes of one of the very last nights of original PI entertainment that would ever be. I made that Christmas trip a few months later & took a walk through the ghost town & saw the horrors of my beloved club being blocked by a pin cart & the AC having a food stand next to it. It made me very sad to know what used to be, having gone to PI back in the "good 'ol days" with the fireworks, the stage & the original clubs. This year I dropped by "What's Your Problem?" just so I could see Mary & Missy(wasn't able to see Robby because of Nemo or Lisa, Philip & Mark because of Idol) & remember just one year prior when I was able to experience Disney improv properly. Here's hoping by September, something changes & improv is brought back to the DTD area. If not, then does anyone know the best way to get to Mama's or SAK? I need my CW cast on my birthday!

SAK is currently located in the ground floor of the parking garage across from Amway Arena. I've heard that they are actually moving to the real downtown area on Orange Avenue but I have no details.

Not sure if you saw this, but a lot of the CW members you mentioned were at the PI Castmember Reunion on September 27th and I had posted these pics on my blog:

I have not heard of SAK having more than the one night of past CW cast. Correct?
I wish they would. We would be there all the time if the CW cast were there.
Awhile back I even e-mailed SAK asking about another CW night. No response.
Seems odd when the house was packed and overflowing the one night they did have the show.

Yeah actually, Mary told me about the reunion on September 21 when I was at What's Your Problem? but unfortunately I was leaving town the next day so I couldn't attend. I did help spread the word here on the DIS though & I definately would've been there if I could've.

Another question, without a vehicle & spending an outrageous amount of money to do so, is it possible to get to SAK or Mama's? I'd love to be able to support the CW cast but I have no transportation. I need to find a way to get to the clubs so any advice would be appreciated.

Oh goody, now I can get drunk whilst wearing my sweet personalized V neck tee and blow chunks from the tethered balloon ride:rolleyes: I can hardly wait. Seriously what is the deal with the tethered balloon ride--totallly lame-o!

LOL!!!! Me too!!!

I don't know anything about Mama's. SAK is by the Amway Arena so it's an easy walk from Lynx Central Station over to it. It is possible to take a city bus from Disney to downtown. But as far as getting back to Disney late at night, I'm not aware of any public transportation except a taxi which would be expensive. It would probably be cheaper to have a 1-day car rental which would give you up to 24-hours to go downtown plus whatever else you can do when you have a car.

Mama's Comedy Club is at Sleuth's actually. I've always wanted to go but i've always been unable to.

The vehicle rental idea is a no-go too as I don't drive which is why I rely heavily on Disney transportation to get around. Is there a way to take buses to DTD that would get me to SAK via a transfer there?

For Sleuths, you could take the bus to Sea World, then catch the "trolley" up I-Drive. Would be a long trip, tho, and again, you'd be on your own getting back after. If renting a car is out, still would be a pricey taxi trip.

BTW, are you sure Mama's is still ongoing? I live in the area, and I actually went to a comedy show at Sleuths 2 months ago, and I've never heard of it or seen an ad for it. Hate to see you put all the effort in to find a closed building.

update - construction walls up around mannequins stairs and PI live booth. PI Live window coverings have been removed and you can see the inside totally gutted right down to the AC pipes.
