Flying Southwest and using DME upon arrival to Orlando

OK, here is yet another question regarding DME. I would normally do a search to avoid asking a previously asked question but I CANT FIND THE SEARCH BUTTON today. (I think I am losing my mind.)

So I just called reservations at Disney to sign us up for DME. The agent told me that upon arrival in Orlando, I will have to retrieve my bags from baggage claim and take them to the DME counter and check them in there This is because I am flying Southwest ad they are not a participating airline.

But I flew Southwest last time and I SWEAR I don't remember doing this??? Maybe I was just so excited to get to Disney I just don't remember doing it???

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Upon ARRIVAL at Orlando airport (if before 10pm), EVERYONE has luggage delivery to the resort.

Participating airline only comes into play when you are leaving to go home.

Unless something has changed or you are arriving after 10:00pm (no ME luggage service after 10pm) you should not have to pick up your luggage yourself no matter what airline.(thats what the ME tags are for) I believe it only matters if your airline is participating is upon departure. If your airline is participating you can check your luggage in at hotel when leaving and they check it in for you with airline.

And yet again, another guest is given the wrong info by a Disney CM!!! I can't believe that after years of DME being in business, there are still CMs who don't know what's right.

Just flew Southwest last week and used DME. We did not have to pick up our bags when we landed. We just headed off to the DME desk and all was well. Our luggage arrived about 4 hours after landing.

On the way home, our flight did not leave MCO until 6 pm, so we stored our bags with luggage services for the day and then picked them up again just prior to DME pick up time. The bus driver loaded the bags for us at the resort, and then unloaded them when we arrived to the airport. We did tip him for the handling. We then had to bring our own bags to the Southwest desk for check in.

It was the very first time we've used DME and I won't hesitate to do it again!

If not AFTER 10pm, you're fine...Be sure to put those YELLOW tags on your luggage.

Have a great trip!!!

Thanks for all the replies! I thought I was going crazy because I could not remember schleping bags all over the airport!

You were not losing your mind. The search button was removed while the boards were undergoing some maintenance. It was restored when the work was completed.

when are you flying? perhaps because you are calling short notice and will not have the yellow tags in time, you are being instructed to grab your bags? (as opposed to the complete misinformation re: swa being the reason)

at certain resorts (Pop & All-Stars) - SWA IS a participating airline for the trip home!! WOW was that terrific!!!

We aren't leaving until 12/12. We should def get our yellow tags prior to that.
