Hello,

I know there are the menus you can look at but would like your personal thoughts on the above buffet, especially what food choices, including for more "plain" choice foods you can have.

The reviews for this restaurant for dinner are always good and seems a shame to say no without asking people's advices on what sorts of foods you get. :goodvibes

For plain food DW struggled a little at Boma, been twice. She found enough to eat but is not top of her list for places to eat.
1st time we went I loved it, 2nd time not so much so we didn't go back this last trip even with free DDP. Maybe next time try again.

We went in May and it wasnt our favourite restaurant. I couldnt fault the service - our waitress was excellent and the quality of the food was excellent, but alot of it wasnt not our sort of thing. The meats were excellent - it was more the side dishes i didnt like so much.

I think for breakfast it's a good option and also means you can have a look around the resort also.
Not sure I would go there for lunch or dinner.

We all love Boma and go at least once every trip! DH is a really picky eater and there are lots of things that he won't eat however he loves it at Boma and finds lots of things to eat, go figure!

We didn't enjoy breakfast at Boma at all.

We loved the dinner though and would definitel return.

They didn't have lunch there when we went, but I would have glady gone if they did!

We have eaten at both breakfast and dinner and feel it is overrated. We were not impressed with breakfast and didnt care for dinner either. We much prefer Crystal Palace for both:thumbsup2

This trip we're going to have breakfast there for the first time, so I hope that we're going to enjoy it!

We really like Boma but have only eaten there for dinner and given the large choice would have though there would be something for most diners. Food quality is good.

we loved boma, best on site meal, ever!!
had both bfast and dinner, and the whole family loved it, choices were amazing, resort is fab, couldnt rate it highly enough!!

We have been to Boma several times over the years and is always a must do for our family, we try and make an evening out of it, first we have a good look around do a bit of animal spotting etc etc and then have a drink in the bar area (Margaritas spot on here) before heading down for our meal.

Every time we have been the food has been very good, Im not sure on what type of food you like but this year we took my mum (who won't eat anything unusual) and she loved it.:thumbsup2

If you want my opinion I would say give it a go Im sure there will be something there that you will like.

We have been there twice for dinner and absolutely loved it!! My DH is fairly fussy, but he loved it so much last year he demanded we go back again this year! Its mainly "normal" foods such as chicken with different spices than we would usually have . . . no goat or anything like that!!!! Food qualty was very good.

We also did breakfast once - that was also good quality, but much more "everyday" foods

There are a load of pictures of it in my food reviews below! Have fun there!!

I am a fussy earter, and so is one of my children. We went a few weeks ago, and I thought that my belly was going to pop after three full plates of food - and that was before desserts. My fussy son loved it too.

The fresh salmon, with the herb and nut crust was great, the salad choices and dressings terrific, and the meats were really good - the durbon spiced chicken was superb.

The only let down for me was desserts - they are more like bite size fancy cakes, and although many were nice, they were a little too fancy for my taste overall.

Kids have a special section, too, and there are hand carved meats for everyone - both cooked rare (and I mean rare!) and well done (the way I like it).

The atmosphere was great, and as for drinks, everytime I got up for more food, whenerver I came back to table i had a fresh one waiting for me - as if by magic!!!

But if you like fries, burgers and hot dogs, you are gonna be out of luck at Boma.

No do not like burgers, hot dogs etc ... like more plain foods, chicken with no garlic etc, that sort of thing.

Thats like DW although she does like garlic, she doesn't eat fish or red meat she likes plain chicken, preferably off the bone. We found everything at Boma had herbs and spices, nothing was plain so she struggled. She really filled up on desserts, zebra domes etc.
Great for me but not for her, I usually say try a place and decide for yourself but I am not so sure on this one.

Your wife sounds spookly like me :lmao: Do not eat fish/red meat/mince meat/burgers/sausages, do not like chicken on the bone, garlic does not like me ... yes I am hard work :lmao: Even though the reviews are good I think we will give this a miss.

We love Boma and this year ate there the night before our wedding :thumbsup2, having eaten there once before.

My dad can't eat anything too spicy but there is such a range there that he still had plenty of choice. Even my neice (3) and nephew(18 months) ate a lot - they particularly enjoyed all the fruit available! I always eat so much there that I feel a little stuffed, so it's nice to finish off with a wander round the savannah!

I hate putting people off places when so many like it, maybe go have a look around and see for yourself if there is enough for you to eat.

We LOVED Boma, including our young children. My husband is a chef so our children are very good eaters and every experimental which makes dining a joy for us.

They do have a section with fried and macaroni cheese (my children turned their noses up here!).

The salad section covers all sorts of flavours and tastes including Cous Cous, pasta and they have variety of soups.

However, I don't think you will be able to get a 'plain' bit of chicken (although the beef was delicious and not spicy).

If you were on the Dining Plan and others in your group are open to a variety of tastes it may be worth checking out.T

If you are paying out of pocket and others are not soe keen I would suggest that the 'Flavours of Africa' buffet is probably not for you.
