***2009*** Epcot Food & Wine Festival ENDED NOV. 8

Aye - the Jiko's dinner made me a sad person.

If I'm around for the V&A one or the California Grill one I'll probably go. Otherwise - probably not.

I kinda wish I would have done the Portabello's one that same evenign.

Hi Lori.

I agree 100%. You can get an amazing meal at Blue Zoo for less than 180.
The only one of Todd's restaurants I enjoy is Blue Zoo and he has little to do with it IMO.

Yes, Blue Zoo is always great...but if that is the only one you enjoy, then you haven't tried Da Campo in Fort Lauderdale! All I can say is wow and I have never had Italian food like this.

I am looking forward to trying his new Burger place in Boston (if it ever opens) though.
It seems like everyone is opening burger places these days.

I had lunch at Todd English's Olives™ in Las Vegas a couple years ago and thought it was good. I think Bobby Flay has a burger place. Must be the new trendy thing.

Jiko has been mucking things up since chef Gray left. They should have paid her what she wanted to allow her to stay!

I've heard she is trying to come back and they will not re-hire her.

Sheesh. Disney is making a mistake. What else is new.

I hadn't heard this, as I recall she left for personal reasons....but, I sure wish she would return!

I went to Bobby's Burger Palace at Mohegan Sun a couple of months ago. It was really good -- sweet potato fries cooked perfectly, very tasty looking milkshakes, some really nice sauces, and a good selection of burger toppings. I really enjoyed my turkey burger and black & white milkshake.

Yeah it is really good and reasonable. Looking forward to his full on restaurant.

As for Todd
Tuscany in Mohegan was not worth the price of admission. Too many better places at Mohegan and comming to Mohegan.
Figgs is good and reasonable.
Olive's in Boston was OK most of the times I ate there. I'll need to try it again, I have not been since they closed it down for Rats about 5 years ago. (It is Boston so this is not that unusual)
Bonfire was just terrible, no wonder it's gone (Only the ones at the airports are left and I don't expect much at an airport. I would try it if it was in the International Terminal. Who has the time before a domestic flight?).
Todd's meal at Blue Zoo was disappointing overall. The pasta was way too salty and is the one thing that really sticks in my mind. Too bad because other than that it was perfectly cooked pasta.

But the one that really turned me off to Todd (other than his personality) was Kingfish Hall. I know it is in Faneuil Hall so what do you expect. This place is so bad they have to sell certificates on resturaunt.com these days. Even the shake and bake fries were bad :(. Why put your name on a glorified Red Lobster? (actually Red Lobster is better)

BTW: I am not picking on resturaunt.com I use it all the time for little local places, but when a big name like Todd English has to use it it makes me wonder.

I think it must be time to unstick this thread again - come back next year, same Bat time, same Bat channel.

Yes, thank you, all! It has been a great year... looking forward to reading the rest of the reviews and Trip Reports! :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone!!! OK, now what are the dates for 2010!!!!!
According to the back cover of the 2009 Epcot F&W Festival Guide, the official dates for 2010 are...

September 24 - November 7, 2010

For those who can't wait that long, the dates Disney's California Food & Wine Festival at Disney's California Adventure are April 16 - May 31, 2010.

And for those that can't even wait that long, Yesterland had an article yesterday with a bunch of photos of the Culinary demos at the 2009 Epcot F&W Festival, including the food that was served at the demos:

Thank you, HH! That was a great photo review of the culinary demos! I especially loved seeing what I missed from seminars I amost booked... Maybe this will help for next year, if some of the same chefs return. :thumbsup2

I'm already booked for Sept 24th to 29th- Bring it ON, BABY!!! :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

Just want to thank you all for this thread. The festival was great and we look forward to next year but before I sign-off I just have to post a few of my gigs of pics.

BUT, the Disney website is now saying Oct. 1-Nov. 14 and I was told on the holiday Epcot pamphlet it also had those dates. WHY would they change it after already putting the dates out there?!?!? *grumble*

BTW, can't get confirmation though, if you call Disney, the CM's still say the official word is Sept. 24. :sad2:

The back cover of the 2009 Epcot F&W Festival Guide also said that the dates for the 2009 Disney's California Food and Wine Festival will be April 24 to June 7, 2010.

But now the official Disneyland website says the dates will be April 16 to May 31, 2010.

I guess the message that Disney is sending is that it's safe to book vacations in the middle of the festivals, but that you can't rely on getting accurate dates for the first or last week.
