NWA Luggage Fee

Okay I'm confused, I looked on their baggage site and I don't get it. One line it says 1st bag free, the next line says $15 for first bag. Last Feb we flew and checked a bag a piece and were charged $15 per trip per bag. I see they did something different and now if you don't pay for your bags on line, you get charged a $5 surcharge...but now it looks like your first bag is free? Or no? Coach gets one bag. So did they change it? I have no idea what kind of ticket I bought either...all I know is it was cheap off Expedia! Are they still charging $15 a bag? If you read down lower on their domestic flights, then it says $15 for first bag. I don't understand their chart!

I know what you mean, sounds confusing. Took a while for me to make sense of it. You would have to know which coach fare you are getting. It looks like if you have a Y coach fare, then your first 2 bags are free. This probably means that you just about paid the full fare for your flight and this is your compensation.

If you got a really good deal off of Expedia, than more than likely you did not get their Y coach fare. Therefore you will have to pay $15 for the 1st checked bag, $25 for the 2nd, then a $125 if you have a 3rd. Plus a $5 surcharge for each bag if you don't prepay for them. So now you're actually paying $20 for the 1st, $30 for the 2nd, etc. If you prepay for your bags, then you won't get charged the $5 surcharge per bag. I'm guessing when you check in, you can also check your bags and pre-pay the fees to avoid getting charged at the kiosks.

The 1st bag free is if you're traveling from the U.S. to Canada, Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands, and vice-versa. I hope this makes sense.

I KNEW it was too good to be true!!! LOL! Yeah I only paid like $220 a ticket round trip non stop so I doubt ours is free! Wasn't last time I bought them off Expedia either.

So if I pre-pay for my baggage on line...how do I get the tags for it when we get to the airport?

You will still need to check in your bags at the kiosks. You will just show the attendant your pre-paid receipt and they will print your tags for you without the $5 surcharge.

I can handle that. What a rip though...gees...so I take it I'll have to pre-pay them at our resort as well? Do they have a computer system where we can check in 24 hours prior and purchase our luggage fees? We're staying at POFQ.

If you want to avoid the $5 surcharge on the way back, unfortunately yes, you will need to pre-pay as well. This is the way they get you.

DW and I own a timeshare off-site and stay there when we go, so I'm sorry to say, I can't answer the rest of this question for you. I think I have seen on other forums though that the cm's at the resorts will help you with this. I'm sure someone here knows this answer better than I do.

If you are staying at a Disney resort, DME will send you instructions to call to prepay your bags.

The process at Disney for prepaying for your luggage is really easy. They will provide you with the number. Have your flight info or confirmation no. handy, a cc, and a pen/pencil to write down the confirmation no. they give you. We have never used ME so I'm not sure what the procedure is for check-out day as far as luggage is concerned. We had a rental car and on our check-out day we just took our luggage and confirmation no. to the airline desk in the BW lobby. They confirmed our luggage was paid for, took care of the baggage claim tags, printed our boarding passes and then took our luggage.
