:rotfl:
Anybody notice that we're now at 100 pages of this thread?

Mainly due to all those contributions by Scothen and brennan1231:cheer2::lmao:

Likely won't make it to 200 with 3.5 weeks to go and less than that before many people head on out.

Just the same, Happy Century Thread!:cheer2::cheer2:

Hey

We got 2 more pages this am :lmao: only 98 more to go :rotfl:

We were able to get Marika into the doctor this morning. She does have flu (they think H1N1 but are not testing) and also a secondary sinus infection. Sigh--good to get it over with now, but it adds up to a lot of missed school with vacation in their so soon.

Wow! Well, by the sounds of things, Marika will be able to keep up afterwards, but yes, quite a challenge. She'll be fine by December though:)

Boy have I missed a lot. I'll try to catch up as soon I get DD started on school!:thumbsup2

Well is she is out all week she will have 2 weeks 2 catch up before she is out another 2 weeks for vacation:lmao: poor kid! But then they only have 7 days after the vaaction before a 3 week break--plenty of time to get ALL caught up then:goodvibes Actually, if she can figure out teh German (chemistry, physics and math in German are . . .interesting--Tetrahedron is not one of the words you basic German course covers:rotfl2:) she has not actually covered anything yet that isn't review of something she had before. This will be her saving grace.

I get very motion sick. Even swings make me feel ill. I've only been seasick on 2 of the 9 DCL cruises we've been on. For me, it seemed to be room location. One we were very far forward and our bed faced the opposite direction of the way we were moving. For some reason I was sitting on our stateroom sofa (also backwards of the direction we were going) looking outside at the waves breaking and that got me sick. We were moving at a good speed too and it was probably the highest waves of any of our cruises. The other time we had the very last room on deck 7 and there was just too much movement for me. Fresh air and looking at the horizon helps me personally. I've also taken bonine which helps and doesn't make me sleepy. I tried the scopamine (sp) patch and that didn't work for me. I got a very dry mouth and blurry eyes (my dh put it on me so it wasn't like I did it and rubbed my eyes) I also tried a herbal behind the ear medicine and the smell of it alone made me feel even queasier and didn't work. The other DCL cruises we've been midship and I've been totally fine. The boys and Derek have never gotten seasick on the Magic or Wonder. Brennan does get seasick on smaller excursion boats but Bonine has helped him with it.

David gets sea sick on rocking chairs, porch swings you name it! He tried bonine patch, etc. on the first couple of cruises and it worked "okay" meaning he was not throwing up, but he did not feel good either. Then someone told him to try ginger tablets. He says it is like night and day:goodvibes The first couple of cruises after that he would still be a bit queasy the first night of two but then he was fine. Eventually our doctor in New Hampshire said he should start taking the tablets a couple of days before the cruise so that the ginger builds up in his system. Since then he has not felt seasick at all--not even with the very rocky seas we had on the Transatlantic!
Sadly, I have just come from the "reformhaus" (natural foods/homeopathic remedies store in Germany) and learned they do not sell ginger tablets here--only the little candies. I am emailing our friends we are seeing at WDW tonight to see if they can bring a bottle for David:thumbsup2

Thanks. None of us are prone to motion sickness as we don't get sick in the car, on rides, swings, ect. I would just hate to not be prepared in the event it did happen to us on the cruise. I know that different things work for different people but it's nice to hear of some things that do work.

Marika is home sick today. The doctor cannot see her until tomorrow. Based on the phone description both the doctor (and pharmicist here) think it is eitehr Swine Flu with no fever (guess it happens) or sinus infection (what many DISser ont the CB think as well--go CB:woohoo:) or some combination of both. We are deciding the good news is IF it is swine we will be over it before the trip. Everyone has had their regular flu shots by now and we were supposed to get swine flu shots next week:rolleyes1

Sorry to hear that Marika is sick. But you're right, if it is the swine flu, at least she'll be better before the trip. I'm still waiting on the swine flu shot for myself. Everyone else has had theirs. I got the regular flu at WDW 3 years ago this Dec and I was miserable. Don't want that to happen this year.

For any of you DVC members who just HAVE to shop before the cruise! :)

From DVCNews.com:

Disney Vacation Club members are invited to take part in a wave of holiday shopping promotions in early-December 2009. On the morning of December 5th the World of Disney locations at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will feature special "doorbuster" sales from 6:30am to 9:30am with items discounted up to 50%. Additional retail locations are holding 20% off sales which run from December 5-12 at both resorts.

THANKS!!! We're heading to DTD for breakfast before going to the port. May have to do a bit a shopping before hand :goodvibes

I just finished all of our online check in paperwork:woohoo: I had to input the new passport numbers for the kids (niether kid had a passport expiring until next year, but we renewed early this past fall so we would not have to figure out renewals from afar so quickly). Anyway, I thought it was funny that the kids have sequential passport numbers:laughing: This may be totally normal--Marika already had her first passport when Rio was born so they have always been "off" from one another and never applied together before--but it jumped out at me:)

I also (while I am home with a sick kiddo and avoiding housework:rotfl2:) finally booked our last piece of transportation (rental car from port last day--at Budget which does not open until 8:00--so you guys were correct earlier about not everyone opening early enough for getting to your D23 event!). It feels so good to have everything taken care of.

Thanks for the info on the DTD DVC sale Texdisneygal!

Our FE was delivered this afternoon and I wanted to share a picture. We have another FE done by the same person (grady's mom on ebay) but I really wanted one with Christmas colors since we've beens sailing 4 Decembers in a row and will also sail next December:

LOVE IT!!!!

Kinda on the same topic, how many people plan on decorating their door with magnets and such? I had planned on making some magnets and signs but I think I'm running out of time. I'll have to try to make time to get to it.

I haven't found magnetic paper over here--I am sure it does exist but I don't know where. So--barring a great discovery I will jsut have one magnet we packed (along with our FE) among the things which came to Germany. We did have awesome personalized magnetst for each of us that our friend made--but they were in my "cruise purse" with my "cruise jewelry" which was stolen from the hotel room we stayed in the first week here:sad2:

I am AVOIDING the school for the next 3 weeks.:scared1: TOO many germs, viruses, strep, stomach bugs for me.

I am supposed to be in school the day we leave for FL ~ Dec. 4th. :scared1:
I am going to get another parent to fill in for me.

DH is going to have lunch with the kiddos next Thurs. for their Thanksgiving meal. I ain't risking getting sick before our cruise. :thumbsup2

I don't want to be sick

wuv tigger

Madalyn's first grade class had 13 kids sick for a week last month (She got the vaccine the Friday before and never got sick. Knock on wood). The H1N1 virus went through the school that week. Rumor has it our area will have another round of it soon. My mom and I are planning to go in and disinfect the entire classroom if it comes back around before our trip. Crossing my fingers we make it to port healthy.

What is it with the American Postal Service Over There???? We got ours via Fedex here in Canada last week! Hadley got hers before I did and that's way out in Deutshland! (sp?)

I guess we foreigners get the 'preferential treatment':snooty::cool2::lmao::cool1:

Looking forward to seeing you all in 3.5 weeks! :cool1:

I'm still waiting for ours!!! But someone on the regular cruise board posted a link to check status and it directed me to UPS so it's not being sent via the postal service. Now, if it was, I'd be really worried. I think we have the worst mailman in the world. We are constantly getting our neighbor's mail and they get ours. Anyway, the UPS site said it should be delivered this week. However, I had already filled out our paperwork via online so I don't think I'm missing anything.

Hadley:thumbsup2,

I didn't know you were still adding people to the Roll Call, I'll edit my post to reflect that. Don't stop! It would be better to have everything in one place. I was just trying to include our new posters.

Fluvanna
Fluvanna--I am confused:flower3: I thought I was just keeping a roll call for everyone. Since I add people in at the bottom when they send me their info then you can also easily use it to create badges, but I was not planning on stopping after the lanyards ran out. Should I stop? I was all set to ask our new posters to PM me their info until I got to this post:confused
We just got our cruise documents, too. We have 2nd dining even though we have a 1 year old but I think she'll be fine. Also, y'all say a quick prayer for our family. My father-in-law is having quadruple bypass surgery this evening. Kind of unexpected. We are waiting to see if we will still be able to go on the cruise.:sad2:

Thanks,
Deena

 Hope everything went well for your FIL. Hope to see you on the cruise!

OKAY--so attention all new posters to this thread pretty please PM (if you have enough posts on the DIS to be allowed to--if not please post here with an attention to me:flower3:) with:

DISname
first names of those in party including ages of kids
early or late dining

and I will add you to the roll call:goodvibes

also, I was not paying enough attention in the flurry of recent posts. Would those of you who were changed to early dining and are already on the roll call please PM me so I get the changes recorded? Thanks.

I have 2 other message boards to donate ... TinkerBelle dry erase boards at that :thumbsup2

Our family will keep one on deck 2 aft.

I can't remember who was willing to do mid ship & forward. :confused3

Does anyone remember?

These will be used for families to make note IF their cabin # changes, mini meets, etc.

IF you are willing to have it on your stateroom door, please "quote" this post with your screen name & either midship or forward.

thanks,

wuv tigger

We are midship Deck 2 and can put a board on our door. I have a small one (8x10) that I picked up a Staples awhile back. Let me know and I'll toss it in the luggage.

Thanks! Rosemary

We can try! We're up to page 102 (or is it 103?). Let's say 102, so that's 98 pages to go over lets say 20 days since a lot of people are heading to FL early. That's almost 5 pages a day, or 75 posts a day. We can do it! Well, maybe :goodvibes

If you want any magnets printed just PM me. We printed the Pirate/Captain hats for above the cabin number on our door. I don't mind printing a few more.

Thanks! Rosemary

Yeah, all of us have sequential numbers as we all applied for the first time this summer. Now that we have passports, I hope we can really put them to good use!!
