What are historically the cheapest days to fly (such as days of the week). We want to go to WDW next year but it woudl totally depend on teh cost of flights since there are 5 of us!

I've noticed it depends on the airlines and how far in advance you book. Usually what I see when booking flights, the most expensive days to fly are Friday, Sunday and Monday. Cheapest days are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday. I've been able to find flights for Fri., Sun., and Mon. at the same rates as the other days by booking out far enough in advance, or by constantly checking back. Sometimes you can catch the right deals at the right time. :thumbsup2

We have been flying to Florida for many years, almost always on Continental. I have found that the lowest fares are usually on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. However, they sometimes can be found on other days including the weekends. Daily fares can also vary by the time of the flight.

I also found that I get the best prices by booking directly with the airline. One thing I like about flying during the week is that it is less congested, however I understand that not everyone has this option.

We usually fly SW also. If you download their DING feature, you can also get some really good deals. I usually check back with them often. As I stated earlier, I've been able to get the same rates on a Friday by booking far enough in advance. One thing I've also learned on these boards, if your same flights are cheaper further down the line; you can book the same flights for cheaper, and get credit back for future flights.

Ensure you have a Saturday stay within your intinary.

Avoid Mondays and Fridays, these are big business travel days.

The rest is just a crapshoot.

When you make or check reservations with SWA, there is a tab , on the screen where you choose your flight, that lets you check the best rate per day for the entire month. It displays a monthly calendar with the best rate posted for each day. I use it all the time when planning trips.

Thursday evening and Monday morning are consultant flights and those flights are CRAMMED full of high paying biz travelers and are rarely "cheap"

Had to test your theory. Just looked at SW and priced flights leaving on Thursday. From what I saw, the morning flights are just as expensive as the EVENING flights. Yes, the may be more crammed, but they are just as cheap as the earlier flights. Plus if the OP is like me who likes to get to WDW early, I'm almost guessing she won't want to travel in the evening.

See bold. Not sure if you checked for next week or 3 months from now. Biz travelers tend to book with less than 14 day advance notice which still allows the OP to possibly find a reasonable fare. SWA also attracts lots of leisure travelers If the OP is trying to book for a school holiday period that SWA has already released dates for the seats could already be sky high.

I will advise the OP just like I tell my own family, biz travelers are not always the friendliest and they tend to pay for Biz Select or are elite FF or pay EBCI and tend to fill up the aisles and windows quickly since they are rarely flying with companions. If sitting together like ducks in a row is a must have avoid these flight times. Also note that with any evening departure on SWA it is very likely that you are on a continuing flight so the flight may be partially full of passengers before you ever get on which also reduces the possibility of finding seats together after all the biz select, FF and EBCI board.

We usually always fly Southwest, last April we flew down on Southwest on Monday mornng for 59. each and flew back on Airtran the following Monday for $67 each. We chose to fly Monday to Monday last year becuae it was cheaper. After I booked on Airtran for the return flights Southwest flights went down. . This year we are flying out on a Sunday 124.oo each Southwest and I was hoping to come home on the following Monday (still watching prices). The flights for Sunday eveing are much higher than Monday at this time. Good Luck!

hum good question it all depends on the airlines I would say it not only the day you fly it comes to what time the publish the fair and luck does not hurt

For Southwest, Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Saturdays are the least expensive days to fly; those three days of the week are always cited in all of their airfare promotions.

The most expensive day is almost always Sunday.
