Do you give gifts from yourself aswell as from Father Christmas?

All the presents DD gets (except ones from family and friends etc) are from Santa, it was the same for me and my brother when we was younger so i like to carry on that tradition with my DD.

I have heard that some people tell there children that they send the money to Santa for him to get the presents (where is the magic in that?) I tell Kyra that all the presents are made in the North Pole by all of Santas little helpers, but not to expect to get everything on her list as Santa likes to choose what he sends. She seems to accept that.

Wondering what everyone else does? Do you like to give gifts from yourself or do you let Santa get all the credit?

We do both. DS writes his list for Santa with about 5 things on and always asks for surprises too. We also buy him some presents to go under the tree, so no, in our house Santa doesn't get all the credit!

But bear in mind, I have the type of child who would ask why Santa and everyone else gets him presents at Christmas but we dont buy him anything?! And I know this because it's exactly what I said as a child!

Now she is getting older could you maybe say that Santa has so many children to make toys for that he makes them one each, and that he tells the mummy to help him with the rest of the pressies ?

You see i would rather DD think all her (non family and friends) presents are from Santa. Thats what my parents did with me and my brother before we realised good Old Saint Nick was our Dad in disguise

Santa gets all the credit in our house. All other relatives' presents are from them.

My eldest asked if Santa gives all the presents, why don't all children get the same and why can't she have everything she wants? I confess to using the 'mum and dad send a cheque to cover the cost of making toys/elf labour' excuse. I am still telling her that Santa is real and she is nearly ten. She is a little sceptical to say the least.

Ours get a decent size gift and stockings from Santa. Other things come from us or whoever else. I always love hearing about the variations though

I've got to say I'm with you Emma, Santa gets all the credit in our house too. It was the same when I was a child, we'd get pressies from relations but the rest all came from Santa. DH was told it was a combined effort but I'm sticking with Santa til she's a teenager

I'm sure growing up majority of my presents were from Santa and I got like 1 or 2 from mum and dad.

Even now they still write on the labels "From Santa" and I'm 21!! LOL

All the kids have a "chair" each and all the presents on them are from santa. All the presents under the tree are from granny, papa, aunties etc. Mum and dad are meanies and give nothing . Also in this house santa doesn't wrap any presents up, he just lays them all out and build sany that needs building.

All the pressies in our house were from Father Christmas ~ apart from the ones from grandparents, uncles, aunts, friends etc. This was how both my parents and DH's parents did Christmas, in fact so did my best friend who lived across the road ~ it wasn't until I was well into my thirties and chatting to another mum from school that I realised not everyone 'played' it this way!

As my girls got a bit older and started querying why some of their friends got presents from their parents as well as from Santa, I just told them that perhaps he was a bit too busy to do all their shopping so they were helping him out. They seemed quite happy with this, in fact thinking back it was about this time their Christmas lists started getting written in the summer holidays, they obviously wanted to get theirs in first!!

The only time I remember it getting a bit awkward was the first year they made up shoeboxes for the Eastern block orphans at Brownies/Sunday School and were told these would be the only presents these children would receive. They wanted to know why Santa wasn't going to deliver to these children ~ I think I said something along the lines of them not having any parents to pay for the gifts so they've always known that any gifts from Santa are actually paid for from Mum and Dad.

And even though they're all teenagers now, they still have sacks and stockings and we still wait until they've gone to bed before filling them!

Yep, as kids, mine and my Brother's gifts were always from Father Christmas too! We both still have our 'own chair' and we're 25 and 22 now It would be rude to break tradition!

my brother, sister and I all had 'chairs' too, it was so exciting and made me feel all just thinking about it. Our presents were never wrapped but we wrap for ds and dd, I love seeing their faces as they tear into the paper. Can't believe it's 8 weeks today

I send gifts to myself (via the dogs) as well as those I receive from Santa...

OOPS!!! Oh that's not what you mean!

When the kiddiwinks were little, all gifts on Christmas morning were from Santa. Nowadays (at age 26, 24 and 16) they receive one gift from Santa and the rest are from family. It's now more of an exchange than a full-on gift fest!!! We used to allocate a chair/section of the sofa each but now we put them under the tree and take it turns to go and get some to distribute...
