Anybody point me in the direction of a good deal on these?

Did the tethered balloon at DTD in july passed, and its given me a taste for a real one. My girlfriends always wanted to do one, but ive always been too much of a scaredy cat, so maybe i'll surprise her next summer!

Hi we booked ours through virgin, i can't remember how much and was a few years ago, so prob gone up quite a bit, but very good:)

we went on one last year and loved every minute of it. The only problem was the early start. We booked ours through virgin. If you do decide to book a trip on one we were advised to book it for early on in our trip in case it has to be cancelled because of the weather that we you still have time to reschedule it

We booked with Orange Blossom again for December as well having had a fantastic experience with them three years ago.

Not sure without checking the website but earlier this year they were doing an offer to buy a gift card for booking balloon flight. It was something like $25 cheaper than just booking a flight so I bought a giftcard and then booked a few weeks later

Also as mentioned book early so you can re-schedule if necessary, but also if you plan it for the first few days of the holiday the getting up early isn't quite so bad thanks to the time difference

The current prices with virgin are £117 per person, this is something that me & my husband are looking into this for when we go as it is something that I would love to try

Before you go handing over all your hard earned pounds on this side, check out the prices in $$ on the other side. Most times, although not always, it is much cheaper to convert and pay in dollars. I think a lot of the time travel companies cash in on the fact that people don't consider this option and/or prefer everything pre-paid. You can still purchase in advance online, and only incur a small forex fee for the transaction which you can do on a debit card if you prefer - and it still usually works out cheaper.

what time do they generally go on until / have you been back at the hotel for? We are hoping to do this the morning of our wedding but dont want to be too time pushed. Thanks x

If memory serves I think we took off about 7am, landed around 8am, and were back at the meeting hotel around 9am for a buffet brekkie which of course you can stay as long as you want.

I just looked on the orange blossom balloon site and at the bottom of the page they are advertising a summer special discount of $150, it takes you to the page for the fathers day special which I booked, the same deal basically. At today's exchange rate it works out roughly £90 to do it direct. Again if memory serves I think some of the operators like Virgin level it out by giving you free kids places, but if you are just adults going it works better to go direct.

When we did it we were picked up at 5am, we had to help get the balloons ready we took off about 7am then when landed we agian had to help pack all balloons away we then went for champange breakfast, so think we didn't make it back to the hotel till at least 11am, so i think you would be a bit rushed before wedding, we used orange bloosom balloons, booked through Virgin through the rep at the welcome meeting,:)

Orlando Balloon Rides did us proud - most of the UK tour operators use them - my missus was over the moon with the whole thing! Top trip.

We booked directly with Orange Blossom Balloons a few years ago and had a great time. We were picked up around 5am, launched at sunrise and were back on the ground around 8.30am. :cloud9: Had breakfast at a hotel and then were dropped off at around 11am.

At the time, the company was owned/operated by Brits - not sure if this is still the case as I know some of the balloon operators merged into one company since our flight.

Incidentally, our pilot now owns www.thompsonaire.com - we would definately fly with Capt. Jeff again, also. :goodvibes
