WELCOME HOME

The Wilderness Lodge and Villas are nestled in a dense forest of pines on Bay Lake, accessible by waterway from the Magic Kingdom. The Lodge and Villas were inspired by the U.S. National Park lodges built in the 1900s.
Wilderness Lodge and the Villas offer varying accommodations, ranging from 350-1072 sq. feet. The Lodge houses 728 guest rooms and suites, with some encircling the cavernous lobby but most in the two wings. The cozy Lodge rooms are outfitted with pine furniture and quilted bedspreads. Most Lodge rooms have two queen beds, but some offer a bunk bed in place of the second bed. The Villas feature 136 studios, one-and two-bedroom suites, each with a kitchenette or full kitchen, VCR, and washer and dryer.

Questions Asked at Wilderness Lodge:

What are the advantages to staying at the WL?

Located in the Magic Kingdom Resort area, the WL is a themed resort unto itself. Many folks feel they could stay at the Lodge their entire trip and still have had relaxing vacation with their money well spent.

Is there a Wall Safe located in the rooms?

The rooms do have a small Key-operated safe in the closet to store valuables. It's big enough for your plane tickets, cash/travelers checks and maybe some jewelry, but not much more. For storing larger valuables inquire at the front.

Is Internet service available?

Yes, wired broadband High-speed Internet access (Fee: $9.95 for a contiguous 24 hour period) If you do not want or can not use the in-room HISA, you have several other options. You may use regular dial-up in the room (check for telephone charges)

(Convention Centers) If your laptop computer or Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) is Wi-Fi enabled, you'll be able to access the internet from the common areas of these resorts. Fee: $4.99 for the first 60 minutes or $9.95 for 24 contiguous hours. The vendor that provides this Wi-Fi service, Smart City, will bill you using a secure credit card transaction via the on-screen internet connection. Check with other resort for more information.

Disney Vacation Club Members have "free" wired broadband internet access when staying in a Disney Vacation Club Resort on points. (Free Daily Internet charge effective May 4, 2008)

TRANSPORTATION:
You can take a direct Boat or Bus to the Magic Kingdom. Boats also ferry you to Ft Wilderness and the Contemporary. Buses take you EPCOT, Disney Hollywood Studios, Disney's Animal Kingdom, Downtown Disney, and the water parks.* To reach other resorts, go to the Magic Kingdom (daytime) or Downtown Disney (evening), and then transfer to a resort bus. Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge share many of their bus routes, so travel to and from Fort Wilderness is quite convenient.*

As many know there are two separate boat routes that serve Wilderness Lodge:

The Blue Flag Resort Boats Run continuously between the three resorts (Wilderness Lodge, Contemporary Resort and Ft. Wilderness Campground) there are at lest two of these smaller boats that run during the day. Always check with the boat Capitan as to which resort the boat will be headed for next, in the am they travel clockwise WL, CR, Ft Wilderness at 3:00pm they reverse the route to counter clockwise WL, Ft. Wilderness, CR. The operating hours are 6:45am-11:30pm (Times & Schedulles are subject to change)

The smaller Blue Flag Motor Launches Resort Boats holds appx 39 guest are open to the elements and require a guest to transfer from wheelchairs to the boat with a step down. (strollers also need to be folded) The Motor Launch boats are unable to load ECV's.

Red Flag Resort Boats hours of operation are from 1/2 hour before park opens until 1 1/2 hours after park closing.

The operating times that are posted: Means 1/2 half hour before the opening time of the Magic Kingdom, rather it's EMH (morning) or regular scheduled hours. The boats also continue to run 1 1/2 hour after the Magic Kingdom closes rather regular closing time, EMH (evening) MNSSHP, MVMCP or Pirate & Princess Party.

The Red Flag Boats operate between The Wilderness Lodge and Magic Kingdom only. There are two boats that run between the Lodge and MK continuously, on the day I took the new route we had one large Motor Cruisers and one smaller Motor Launches serving the Wilderness Lodge with FWC having two larger Motor Cruisers.

The larger Red Flag Motor Cruisers Boats Holds appx 120 guest. Guest traveling in wheelchairs or ECV's have access without transferring from chairs and strollers may also be left open and rolled directly on board. Note:These larger Motor Cruisers will be able to load wheelchairs/ECV's, there is a Warning posted on the dock that states that due to water levels access to wheelchairs /ECV's may not be able to load. (thus the Direct Bus access between Wilderness Lodge and the Magic Kingdom) In over twelve years of visiting Wilderness Lodge I have never seen anyone in a wheelchair or ECV ever not be able to board, the boats are enclosed.

**Please note that if the Red Flag Boat being used is a Motor Launch the same boarding restrictions will apply for strollers or wheelchairs. They require a guest to transfer from wheelchairs to the boat with a step down. (strollers also need to be folded) The Motor Launch boats are unable to load ECV's.

Because everyone seems to question the Bus Service @ Wilderness Lodge I’m going to attempt to post my experiences during my many stays at the Lodge:

Magic Kingdom/Ft Wilderness Campground Buses:

This bus stop shares buses that travel to the Magic Kingdom (Direct route to and from Magic Kingdom) and a second bus that travels to Ft Wilderness Campground this bus goes to the Settlement Depot. (Pioneer Hall/Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue Show) You may ask the driver which location they are going to before boarding.
*Note: The Direct Bus runs between Wilderness Lodge and the Magic Kingdom until after the Magic Kingdom closes then reverts back to the old route to TTC so depending on when your trip is and when the MK closes this could be another option to travel from the Monorail Resorts to or from Wilderness Lodge after normal park hours.

Magic Kingdom: Disney Bus service begins approximately 1 hour prior to the park opening time listed for that day. If it's EMH the time will adjust to 1 hour before also.

Disney's Hollywood Studio Bus:
This bus arrives @ The Wilderness Lodge first, and then travels to Ft. Wilderness Campground the Settlement Depot. Using this back route the bus doesn’t travel to the front of the Campground (Pioneer Hall/Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue Show) this extra stop only takes a few minutes.
Returning from DHS the bus travels directly to The Wilderness Lodge then continues to Settlement Depot.

Disney's Hollywood Studios: Disney Bus service begins approximately 1 hour prior to the park opening time listed for that day.

EPCOT Bus:
This bus arrives @ The Wilderness Lodge first, and then travels via Vista Blvd. to Outpost Depot at the front entrance of Ft. Wilderness Campground for guest staying at the campgrounds. This may take up to an additional 10 min.
Returning from EPCOT the bus travels directly to The Wilderness Lodge then continues back to the Outpost Depot.

Epcot: Disney Bus service begins approximately 1 hour prior to the park opening time listed for that day.

Animal Kingdom/Blizzard Beach Bus:
This bus arrives @ Wilderness Lodge first, then travels via Seven Seas Drive to the Grand Floridian to board guest, then travels to Blizzard Beach then Animal Kingdom.
Returning from Animal Kingdom the bus stops first @ Blizzard Beach for guest returning to the resorts. Then goes on to Wilderness Lodge followed by the Grand Floridian.

Animal Kingdom: Disney Bus service begins approximately 1 hour prior to the park opening time listed for that day.
Blizzard Beach: Bus service will begin 1 hour prior to the park opening time listed for that day.

Downtown Disney/Typhoon Lagoon:
This bus arrives @ Wilderness Lodge first, and then travels via Vista Blvd. to Outpost Depot at the front entrance of Ft. Wilderness Campground for guest staying at the campgrounds. This may take up to an additional 10 min. the bus then proceeds to DTD’s Marketplace, Pleasure Island, West Side then Typhoon Lagoon.
Of all the buses this route always takes the longest wait & travel time. This route has to travel in areas with heavy traffic that is off property at times, so please keep this in mind when you take it. I have also heard that this route may also not go to Ft. Wilderness but shares with the Grand Floridian.

Downtown Disney Marketplace/Pleasure Island/West Side: DTD buses start running at approximately 8:30am. This is a combined bus stop located at Downtown Disney/Pleasure Island. The bus driver will announce the latest bus return time.

Typhoon Lagoon: Bus service will begin 1 hour prior to the park opening time listed for that day.

*NOTE: With Disney’s On Demand Service Bus Service the routes may change at anytime, during Peak and Off Peak Seasons the routes may also be changed. The above routes I have posted are the routes that have been used on 99% of my visits to the Wilderness Lodge and The Villas @ Wilderness Lodge. I have also encountered new bus drivers that have taken creative liberties with the routes and correct order of each location.

Character Breakfasts Service will begin ½ hour before the earliest seating. The marquee on the bus will read "Character Breakfast." It should be noted that guests should verify with the driver which park the bus is going to for the character breakfast because there are different ones for different parks. They have the flexibility to allow direct transportation to the theme parks, and area resorts.

If you want to arrive early to any park you could catch a Character Breakfast bus going to the Park but unless you have a ADR or other scheduled event you will have to wait until the Park opens to gain access.

Please take note that all times are subject to change. If you have questions regarding transportation within WDW you should contact Guest Services for additional information.

Think of the bus ride as an adventure your children will.

All Deluxe Guest Rooms feature woodland views, but may also have a view of Bay Lake or the Inner Courtyard.

I found the following information posted by a Wilderness Lodge expert (trust me this poster knows The Wilderness Lodge and the Villas) adding it to our information as it's very informative.

orignally posted by HumphreytheBearThere are actually 25 "Deluxe Rooms" (Junior Suites) They are 1000, 1003, 1166, 1169, 2000, 2003, 2123, 2166, 2169, 3000, 3003, 3123, 3166, 3169, 4000, 4003, 4123, 4166, 4169, 5000, 5003, 5123, 5166, 5169 and 6123.

All of these rooms do offer a connecting option that would be a room with 2 queen beds or a room with one king bed that is either woods or courtyard view. Rooms X000 are the rooms in the North wing that are at the very end of the hall on the left corner, Contemporary side they are Lake/tree view, X003 are the 2 doors down on the right corner with a pool/lake/tree view rooms X123 are halfway down the south wing in the left corner overlooking the pool/lake/geyser. Room X166 is the room at the far end of the south wing on the left corner with a lake view and rooms X169 are 2 doors down on the right corner also with a lake view. Rooms 2123, 3123, 1166, 1169, 2166, and 2169 have "dormer balconies, due to the design of the building these rooms have brick on the balcony railing so you can not see out unless you are standing up (if you sit you see brick), just FYI.

The Legend of Humphrey Bear and his MAGICAL NOSE.

Humphrey is located in the Lobby and is the Mascot (an animal, person, or thing adopted by a group as its representative symbol and supposed to bring good luck) of The Wilderness Lodge and the Wilderness Lodge Vet's Legend is that if you rub Humphreys Nose at the start of or during your visit to WDW you will be favored with PIXIE DUST and you will have a MAGICAL STAY.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON HUMPHREY AND WHY HE IS IN OUR HEARTS:

One our most loved VETS was a sweet gentleman named Roy Car aka FloridaCat he loved Humphrey and always posted to rub his noise so the Magic could begin. We vets also make sure to say "Hi" to Roy our dear friend when we all visit by rubbing Humph's nose.

This Wilderness Lodge FAQ Thread is dedicated to Roy Carr and his Memory because he was very instrumental in making this and the previous 6 WL FAQ threads the great threads they have all been. He posted weather reports for the WDW area every morning as he lived very near the world. He was our Wild Wacky Wonderful WL Weatherman the title was even bestowed to him by the DIS-Tag Fairy.

One of the most frequently asked questions we receive here on the Wilderness Lodge Thread is:
What room request should I make?

Of course it depends on personal preference and which type room view you have booked.

If you use this information along with link to the map Wilderness Lodge Room #'s and Locations, you should be able to make a more informed request, remember request are just that, no room request are guarantied. I am only posting the room #’s as a guide to the room layout map. The map does have a few errors but for general locations it is good. (Thank you Ronald Duck)

Please DO NOT request specific room #’s this will handicap the room assigner by limiting your request to one room. If the room you requested is already occupied they wouldn’t know where you might want to be located or why you requested this room.

Just click on the link below:

Wilderness Lodge Room #'s and Locations

Wood and Courtyard View Rooms also have Bunk Bed Rooms that are a billable view, to guarantee the bunk beds only. These rooms are spread out through the Lodge they are not located in specific areas nor lumped all together. If you are paying for the Bunk Beds you will receive them, they are no longer a request.

Please note that a Standard Room either Regular or Club Level is not necessarily Standard View Room. ie All Standard View Rooms, Woods View Rooms & Courtyard View Rooms are also a Standard Rooms.
There are basically three rooms categories at Wilderness Lodge.
1.) Standard Room (sleeps 4 adults + one infant under the age of 3)
2.) Deluxe room (Sleeps 6 adults + one infant under the age of 3)
3.) Suites (occupancy depends on which Suite you have book please very with IPO)

All rooms at the Wilderness Lodge have balconies or if located on the ground floor a patio.

The following information should be fairly correct but I am human and may have a few errors. I will give you may opinion on where I would request and why.

STANDARD VIEW: Rooms have with 2 Queen Beds, and are located on Floors 4, 5 & 6. On the North (MK) side, they face the service area. There are also 4th floor rooms that overlook the lobby and lookout to roof peaks.

Standard View rooms located off the Lobby: (Southside)
There are only 9 standard view rooms located directly over the Check-in (Southside of lodge) area on the 4th floor and open to the main Lobby. While all of these rooms have outside balconies the views are of the roof peaks. Guests have also complained of noise coming from Whispering Canyon Café while staying in these rooms.

I have stayed in Lobby rooms before (not standard view) after my room door was closed I never heard any outside noise. I love the bustle of all the activity you are able to enjoy while seating in rocking chairs that have been placed around the banisters looking down on the Lobby. During the Holiday Season you will have a beautiful view of the Christmas tree and Holiday entertainment that is preformed in the Lobby.

These rooms also have easy access to an alcove with a fireplace and reading area just over the front doors, a large outside veranda over the front entrée of the lodge plus a great alcove and balcony overlooking Bay Lake. Looking on the map Wilderness Lodge room #’s and locations these rooms would be room # 4091-4099.

Standard View Rooms located in the North Wing on floors 4, 5 and 6:
There are 39 standard view rooms located in the north wing overlooking the service area, all have balconies with open railings. (None are enclosed) Guests have complained of noise coming from the delivery trucks arriving at the lodge with supplies.

I have stayed in these rooms and while the view isn’t that great if you look straight down, these rooms do face the Contemporary Resort and Magic Kingdom giving you the possibility of seeing the fireworks from your balcony. Rooms located on either 5th or 6th floor would put you higher above any noise and offer a better view of the Magic Kingdom. Looking on the map Wilderness Lodge room #’s and locations these rooms would be even # rooms 042-066 on floors 4, 5 & 6. (4042-4066, 5042-5066, 6042-6066)

WOODS VIEW: These rooms are located above the front desk on floors 5 & 6. North side woods view rooms are on floors 1-6 and face the "otter pond"(a handful face MK). Floors 4, 5 & 6 above Whispering Canyon are Woods View Lobby rooms, plus more Wood View rooms on floors 2-6 located on the south side of the lodge overlooking the Villas and trees.

Wood View rooms located off the Lobby: (Southside)
The woods view rooms located above the front desk off the Lobby (South side of the Lodge) on floors 5 and 6 really have views of roof peaks and a few trees in the distance. The pro and cons of these rooms are the same as the few standard view rooms off the Lobby but you will be paying more money for the same view. Room #’s 5091-5099 & 6091-6099.

Wood View rooms overlooking the Villas: (Southside)
There are additional Wood View rooms located on the South side of the lodge before the mid-way elevators They face the side of the Villas and a few trees, on floors 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6. These rooms are very quiet and a good area for light sleepers. Rooms would be even # from 2100-2120, 3100-3120, 4100-4120, 5100-5120 & 6120-6120.

Wood View rooms located off the Lobby: (Northside)
The woods view rooms located off the Lobby above the Whispering Canyon Café. (North side of the Lodge) Floors 4, 5 and 6 have landscaping outside below the balconies, you may also see sections on the employee parking lot. These rooms face toward the Contemporary Resort and Magic Kingdom giving you the possibility of seeing the fireworks from your balcony. Rooms would be # 4081-4090, 5081-5090 and 6081-6090.

Wood View rooms overlooking the Otter Pond: (Northside)
The last group of rooms that are Woods View rooms are located on the North side of the Lodge beyond the mid-way elevators. They are on floors 1-6 they face toward the Contemporary Resort and Magic Kingdom giving you the possibility of seeing the fireworks from your balcony on the higher floors. They also overlook the Otter Pond where the local wildlife visits through out the day. (Otters, ducks, rabbits armadillos and deer) Rooms would be even # from 1004-1034, 2004-2034, 3004-3034, 4004-4034, 5004-5034 and 6004-6034. The rooms located on the 6th floor # 6004-6034 have the enclosed dormer balconies so guest have to stand to enjoy the views.

WL002.jpg

COURTYARD VIEWS:
Courtyard view rooms can be located off the lobby, down the south and north corridors they face the falls/pool. Some Courtyard View rooms may also face south, overlooking the Villas. These rooms are located on all floors.

All Courtyard Views aren't the same, to receive the view most guest want when paying for a Courtyard View you need to add Inner Courtyard View to your reservation. If you want the view of Silver Creek Springs Pool, Silver Creek, the waterfall, the geyser and Bay Lake, be sure to add this to your request.

Inner Courtyard Views: (Northside)
Many guests enjoy the Inner North Wing for a great view of the Bay Lake or the Electrical Water Pageant if room is located on one of the higher floors. They are further away from the pool so they would be a little quieter will less pool noise. They are located on floors 1-6, the room #’s would be odd numbers from 1005-1031, 2005-2031, 3005-3031, 4005-4031, 5005-5031 and 6005-6031. Plus 4035-4061, 5035-5061 and 6035-6061. The rooms located on the 6th floor # 6005-6031 have the enclosed dormer balconies so guest have to stand to view the courtyard.

Inner Courtyard Views: (Southside)
The rooms in the South Wing are closer to the Silver Creek Pool so I feel the views of the pool are better from the South Wing. The higher floors on the Inner South Wings also have obstructed and very limited views of the higher fireworks from the Magic Kingdom. The Courtyard View rooms toward the end of the wing would be the best location to see them. They are located on floors 1-6, the room #’s would be odd numbers from 1135-1165, 2135-2165, 3135-3165, 4135-4165, 5135-5165 and 6135-6165. Plus 2107-2121, 3107-3121, 4107-4121, 5107-5121 and 6107-6121. The rooms located on the 6th floor # 6107-6121 have the enclosed dormer balconies so guest have to stand to view the courtyard.

Courtyard View Overlooking the Villas:
There are Courtyard View rooms located in the south wing that face south and have a view of the Villas and the smaller Hidden Springs Pool. The rooms also have a view of the forest between the Lodge and Ft. Wilderness Campground. I have enjoyed watching the local wildlife visit the edges of the woods during my visits. These rooms are some of the quietest rooms so would be great for light sleepers. They are located on floors 1-6, the room #’s would be even numbers from 1130-1164, 2130-2164, 3130-3164, 4130-4164, 5130-5164 and 6130-6164. The rooms located on the 6th floor # 6130-6164 have the enclosed dormer balconies so guest have to stand to view the courtyard.

Inner Courtyard Views off Lobby: (Bear Face Rooms) * Please don't request a Bear Face room from CRO this is what we WL Vets call the rooms, it isn't a room class or view that the Cast Member will know or be able to book. Inner Courtyard View off Lobby is what you should request
Last but not lest are the Courtyard View rooms that are off the main Lobby, the Wilderness Lodge Vets call these rooms “The Bear Face Rooms” (I will explain later)they are centered in the middle of the inner courtyard and they overlook the entire courtyard area from the balcony with the beautiful Lobby just outside the front door. Can you tell I love and request these rooms when I book Courtyard View? They are located on the 4th, & 5th; the room #’s would be odd numbers from 4067-4079 and 5067-5069.

DELUXE ROOMS:
Most are located at the very end of the hallways and are considered non-specific views. They can face Courtyard or Woods.
There are a total of 25 Deluxe Rooms, as of January 2007 the deluxe rooms have been added to Club Level and receive access to the 7th floor Old Faithful Club along with Personal Itinerary Planning. None of the Deluxe rooms are located on the 7th floor.

Deluxe Room Inner Courtyard Views:
Five of these rooms are located mid-way down the South Wing and have a beautiful view of the inner courtyard. They are located just around the corner from the mid-way elevators so access to the 7th floor will be very covenant. The room #’s would be 2123, 3123, 4123, 5123 and 6123. Rooms 2123 and 3123, due to the design of the building these rooms have brick on the balcony railing so you can not see out unless you are standing up.

Deluxe Room located in the North Wing:
Ten of these rooms are located at the very end of the North Wing, they will have a woods view very close to the dock with an obscured view of Bay Lake. Some guests have said the horns from the motor cruisers and motor launches coming and going from the docks have disturbed them. The room #’s would be 1000, 1003,
2000, 2003, 3000, 3003, 4000, 4003, 5000 and 5003. (*NOTE: From Suite 5000 you are able to see the Castle and WISHES fireworks from the bedroom window and bedroom balcony. This may change at any time as those tress keep growing every year. Haven't received any reports from Suite 4000 or 3000 but it might be possible)

Deluxe Room located in the South Wing:
Ten of these rooms are located at the very end of the South Wing, They will have views of Bay Lake and the marina area. Watching the Electrical Water Pageant from the balcony is one of my favorite memories. The room #’s would be 1166, 1169, 2166, 2169, 3166, 3169, 4166, 4169, 5166 and 5169. Rooms 1166, and 1169, due to the design of the building these rooms have brick on the balcony railing so you can not see out unless you are standing up.

CLUB LEVEL STANDARD ROOMS:
Standard club level rooms are located on the 7th floor, views are non-specific and you may make a request with the IPO Staff. You may request courtyard north wing, courtyard south wing, view toward the Magic Kingdom north wing or view of the Villas south wing. (This would be a request and not guarantied) The balconies on the 7th floor with the exception of the Presidential and Vice-Presidential Suites are the enclosed dormer type and you can not see out unless you are standing up.

HONEYMOON SUITES:
There are four of these suits and are located on the 7th floor off the Lobby. Two are located above the front desk (South) and have views of distance trees and roof tops. Two are located above Whispering Canyon (North) and face the Contemporary Resort and Magic Kingdom giving you the possibility of seeing the fireworks from your balcony.

PRESIDENTIAL & VICE_PRESIDENTIAL SUITES:
The Vice-Presidential Suite is located mid-way down the North Wing has a wrap around balcony overlooking the Inner courtyard.
The Presidential Suite is located mid-way down the South Wing as a balcony that overlooks the inner courtyard.

BEAR FACE ROOM'S
Another piece of trivia from the Vets of Wilderness Lodge.

The Courtyard View rooms that are just off the Lobby are called the "Bear Face Rooms" because of a pattern (WARNING: Imagination is required to see The Bear) that forms the face of a bear, when approching or viewing the Lodge from Bay Lake.

In the photo below look toward the center of the roof just under the Flags. The two small triangular shape windows at the top of the building begins our short flight of fantasy. Now I think these two small windows are the eyes with the large gable forming the nose with the large balcony under the gable forming the mouth. Others see the the top two triangular windows as the ears with the two rectangular windows located to each side of the gable to be the eyes. Either way once you see the face you will be able to see the Bear each time you see the photo or the real deal.

WILDERNESS LODGE LAYOUT

Upon entering the massive front doors, you will find on your left public rest rooms, Whisper Canyon Café, The fireplace and then to Artist’s Point. You then descend down a wide ramp hallway to the doors to the courtyard. Turning left you will find Roaring Forks Food Court, Public Restrooms, elevators and across from the elevators is Guest Laundry.

Back at the main entrance, turning to your right will be the Bell Service desk, behind them is a small room where the Meeses can watch Disney Movies while M&D are getting checked in.
Then along the right wall is the check in counter. At the end of the counter is an INFORMATION CENTER where you can pick up maps and time sheets for the parks. The CM will give you a packet with Wilderness information and a Lodge activities sheet. Continuing along that wall is the elevators.

Going down the hall at the end of the check in counter is Mercantile Gift Shop, across from them are elevators. Then there is the Arcade room and Cubs Den. Going out the doors takes you to the bus terminal. There are signs informing you where each bus will stop and where it is going.

BUILDINGS:
For the sake of clarification I am naming the buildings LOBBY, NORTH WING A, NORTH WING B, SOUTH WING A, SOUTH WING B. With the A buildings close to the lobby and the B building connected to the A buildings; towards Bay Lake. The North buildings are on your left facing the lodge and South buildings on your right.

Rooms are numbered “Floor-Building-Room”. An example is 6008 is sixth floor, north wing, room 8. 6108 is sixth floor, south wing, room 8.
Even room numbers are to the outside and odd numbers are rooms towards the courtyard side.
Room numbers are somewhat confusing as in the North wing, room numbers are ##6 to ##00 from the lobby towards the boat dock. They are the opposite in the South wing, ##60 at the end and ##00 at the lobby.

NORTH BUILDING, WING A: Outside is all Standard View overlooking the service area parking lot. This is where all deliveries are being made to the Lodge. This would work if you are only in the room to sleep. During the day there is a lot of activity of trucks making deliveries. The view is not distasteful; it’s the truck traffic during the day.
Inside rooms are Courtyard View in the general vicinity of the Waterfalls.

NORTH WING BUILDING B: Outside is Woods view and is very quiet and private. We enjoyed it very much and would request it on future trips. We had a good view of Otter Pond, while we never saw any Otter’s there were plenty of Ducks swimming and Rabbits having dinner. The MK fireworks are very plain to see and my estimation is rooms 5012 to 5032 had the same opportunity as well as the same rooms on 4th and 6th floors. Rooms #008 to the end of the building are blocked by two large trees to view MK and to far from Otter Pond to see except a small end of it.

Courtyards views on the inside offer a fantastic view of the pool area and are somewhat noisy until the pool is closed for the day.

NOTE: If you are in the South wing, you can still view the MK fireworks. Go to the 5th or 6th floor where the two wings meet. pull back the shutters on the big windows. Fastest way to get up it the elevator by RF.

SOUTH BUILDING A & B: Both sides are considered Courtyard View; however the outside rooms view the Villas and are quiet. Inside view is the courtyard.

Elevators in the wings are located where Wing A & B connect. Rooms to the far end have a long walk to the elevators or use the stairwell on the end to go to the pool or boat dock. It is my opinion that the North side offers more in convenience then the South side. Both sides are equal in access to Courtyard and pool, but the North has a greater convenience to Roaring Fork area of the lobby and to the boat dock. 5028 was a few steps from the elevator, not a noise problem, which opened into the RF hallway, Pubic restrooms and the Courtyard area just outside RF.
All end units facing Bay Lake are suites

Room numbers will not be given to you under any circumstances until it is ready for occupancy, security is the reason given.
If you arrive early you can check in, but your room key is not activated until Housekeeping clears it as ready, then you will be told what room you are in.

You should note the 6th floor rooms have a “pit” for your balcony. You can identify it in the pictures by where the roof looks like it was cut and raised. This is the 6th floor. They are very private, but you do have to stand to see over them. The lobby is 7 stories high

The best way to get to the North Wings from the lobby is to take the main elevator to your floor and walk across the hall overlooking the lobby.

Coming from the boat dock or pool, entering by RF is best for the North Wing. The entrance close to where A & B connect is best for the South Wing.

POOLS: Silver Spring and Silver Creek meanders down to the waterfalls and into the pool. There is a small slide and it is in the rocks that jut out into the pool. Two large hoppers by Trout pool bar have abundance of towels. The main pool is very pleasant during morning hours and does become somewhat crowded in the afternoon. Our plan was to stay at the main pool and after lunch move over to the Villas pool. While smaller is very nice and less crowded. A bonus is they have piped the lobby music to Rock Speakers in the surrounding landscape. We had a table in the shade and a speaker nearby and was very relaxing and enjoyable. WL sound track offers a very good selection of Western songs.
On the back of each Lifeguard station is a white board. Each morning they list Park Hours, that day's weather and Lodge activities, like Duck races.
At the end of the main pool is the Kiddie pool. Up the steps are the two spas.

WILDLIFE: They seem to have adapted very well to guests. One morning an Armadillo came up the walk searching for tidbits. Egrets and many other birds had no problem standing by a table for any fallen morsel. Ducks have no problem getting the pool for a swim with you. (Better Kim?)

WL LAUNDRY:
Location: 1st floor across from the elevators down from Roaring Forks
Washers: 5 (med sized loads) $2.50 a load
Dryers: 10 $2.50 for 15 min, (60 min max)
Go in the evening time right before the rush. There is a waiting line till about 11:00pm. If you didn't come back for your dryer in time your stuff is taken out! Everyone is splitting their wash load into 2 dryer loads so it would dry faster. Most of the WL VET ladies recommend early morning.

Hair blowers, irons, ironing boards, coffeemakers are located in the rooms.

The Geyser starts at 7:00 AM and on the hour until 10:00 PM

Thank you so much!

We all really appreciate all the hard work!!! :goodvibes

31 days and we will be there for our first trip there!!!

Thank you for re-starting the thread!
I'm under 40 days now, and can't wait to hear "Welcome Home"!

Thanks for the new thread. We have only stayed at the lodge 25 times, but still fun to see what others think. Thanks for all of your hard work in starting this up to date thread.:thumbsup2

Yea! :yay: And THANK YOU!

Our second stay is a year away, and I need this thread to keep me going til then!

We are going in Feb - have never been so I feel like I have soooo much to learn. I have no idea what kind of room to request. It is all so confusing to me!

I have 5 people in our room - I have requested bunk beds. I think. I hope. Need to confirm that!

Any rooms better than others? I would like to see the castle. And fireworks. Is that possible?

Hey MAGICinMYHEART. Glad to see this post revived!:cool1: Cuddos to you!:thumbsup2 Wonderful thread and keeping it going.

You might want to double check what type of room you booked. AFAIK, the only rooms that will sleep more than 4 are the Deluxe, but none of them have bunkbeds. I just don't want you to get there and be disapointed, or have problems b/c you have too many people.

Unless one of your five is an Infant, then you will be fine. Bur either way, bunkbeds is a seperate, bookable category, so check what you have now, to make sure you are getting what you want.

You will love the Lodge!:thumbsup2

ETA...forgot about the view part.....to see the fireworks, you would want woodsview or standard.....(but Standard does not have bunks) You would want to request North side, upper floor.
