I HAVE AC!!!

Or so I hear. My friend's DH went by my house to check it while Gramma's home. He looked at it, turned the switch to "AC"... and the freaking thing turned right on. Dudes, I'd done the same exact thing about a bazillion times over the past few days and nothing happened! So I'm sure it still needs to be replaced, but at least it's running again. Just in time for the cold front tomorrow.

Glad its working again. Mom said its been brutal!

Have fun with the Cub Scouts :rotfl:. We had fun at Toy Story 1 & 2, I hope you both enjoy it.

Gee thanks:rolleyes:

I understand about being upset about them not telling your xmil or the school, but...we don't pack until the day before so....:rolleyes1

K brought home a granny car as my rental car last night. :headache: I swear it was a boat. It was a Mercury something or other but looked like a Town car. I dropped the kids off this am and went to get a van. Not my first choice, but at least it doesn't hurt my back to get in and our of it. :sad2:

Glad you have wheels without the muffler hanging off:thumbsup2:hug:

Well I won my golf match :thumbsup2 And had a nice afternoon with Dad. The girls are off to Wembley tomorrow with Guides to see a special Guides only pop concert. Alexandra Burke, JLS, The Saturdays and loads of others will be there, they're so excited. David and I are making the most of it and going to the cinema and for a meal :thumbsup2

Glad you won at golf and had fun with your dad.

As for the girls going to Wembley...I would say cool, but I have no idea who any of those people are:rotfl2:

Anyway, I've not done much cleaning at all. Oops. Not that there's THAT much to do, but I don't want to leave it all until tomorrow. The boys are home from school, but went to play outside with the neighbor for now. So, I need to get my behind up and doing something real. ;)

You'll get it done I'm sure:thumbsup2

I guess I'd have Max if I could only keep one (my std poodle)....course Bear, Isabella, Biggins, Rocky, Tumnus, Snickers, Tragos, Nestle, Noodles, Boots, Minnie Cow, Brown Cow, Baby cow, and 2 not-named cows would be pissed! :lmao:

:rotfl:

news alert!!Dawn's cafe food is fine....repeat....Dawn's cafe food has been found :rotfl:

:rotfl2:

-------------------------

Back from Cub Scouts and I am exhausted. Those kids ran me ragged :faint: Jim and Jimmy are watching the end of the Flyers game. As soon as Jimy goes to bed, I'm going too.

Tomorrow is Haircut and Toy Story Day:yay:

HAve a good night and a good day tomorrow!:goodvibes

Wow a lot has been going on with everyone !!Hope everyone is on the mend, headaches, stomach bugs etc !!:hug:
Kat still happy that you and KC are doing okay!!:cloud9:
Jo I work with people who are mentally disabled , (MR)Many have other disbilities tooand a lot are older !! None at my house are severely disbled and are very normal looking for the most part!! So there was absolutely NO reason for that womans reaction!! :headache:I did work at a Geriatric ICF but they were MR as well !! Funny as all ***** !! They cracked me up!!
:lmao:
Had another good day at work !! My boss and I did lunch again!!People will be talking:rotfl2:

I know how you feel Rosie--my nursing home has a dementia unit and I would not want anyone making fun of them--although sometimes you do have to have a sense of humor to get through the day!

I have decided that losing your memory is one of the worst things that could happen---it's sad to read and remember what these folks did in their younger days that they can't even remember. :sad1:

Glad its working again. Mom said its been brutal!

Yes one of my favorites has dementia and it is soo sad !! But you definately need a sense of humor in my line of work!!You alo need to be a little "Loopy" which is my natural state !!:lmao:

V- I WANT that garbage holder! Where did you find it? btw- they do make that size of biodegradable bags, I'd check a local natural food store. No paper bags? Well they just may been to rethink that if your state changes the law.
:) AND I'm glad to hear the AC's back working. :thumbsup2

CE- How was the SNOW? Been there... HATED it! It's been freezing here all week. I hope yours melted fast!

Kristel- I'm so happy to hear that you will still have a job!. I hope the meeting went well.

Dawn- How'd you do today? Are you sore? or sorer?

Janet- I'll look up the recipe I used. It was not difficult, just a bit putsy, but I think the kids really got a kick out it. I just posted a picture of my creation on FB. I know a lot more now and will give you some tips when I post the recipe.

TE- Homecoming time of the year is so much fun! :thumbsup2

untitled2-2.jpg

Materials
14-inch balloon, inflated ( I used a beach ball and deflated it once dry, b/c I needed a round pinata)
bowl to place ball/balloon in whilst working
One batch papier-mâché paste:
1/2 cup all-purpose flour and 2 cups cold water in a bowl. Add this mixture to a saucepan of 2 cups boiling water and bring it to a boil again. Remove from the heat and stir in 3 tablespoons of sugar. Let it cool; it will thicken as it cools. Once it does, it's ready to use.

String
Hole punch
Glue
tissue paper ( I used crepe paper streamers)
Several torn strips of both the funnies and regular newsprint

Instructions
For stability while working, place the balloon in a 10-inch bowl. Fold the spread of newspaper in half and then in half again. Tear (don't cut) 1 1/2-inch-wide strips so they have a slightly rough edge (tearing along a straight edge works well). The rough edges help make a smooth overall surface. Drag a strip of newspaper through the papier-mâché paste, wipe off any excess with your fingers, and place it at an angle on the balloon. Place the second strip so that it slightly overlaps the first. Continue until the balloon has been covered with one layer of paper strips--except for a 2-inch square at the top, through which the candy will go.

For the piñata's hanger, wrap the midpoint of a length of string (doubled up, if necessary) around the bottom of the balloon, pulling the ends up to the top; tape it to the balloon in a few places. Knot together the ends of the string 6 inches above the top. with a layer of strips of comics, placing them at a different angle from the first layer. (Using different colored strips lets you distinguish one layer from the next, ensuring a uniform overall thickness.) Allow the second layer to dry.

I deflated my beach ball 24 hours after, then pulled it out and let it dry completely.

Cover the entire pinata with tissue paper to cover the newsprint.

Take crepe paper strips and cut small slits, not all the way to the top. (I layered my paper, then cut my strips to cut through several layers and save time.

Lay a line of glue and adhere the uncut portion of the crepe paper to the pinata, going around and around, layering slightly above the next layer as you go.

Let me know if you need more clarification. :)

We are going to a dinner party tomorrow PM. I'm looking forward to getting together with my newly created Dinner Club (5 couples switch houses, sometimes with kids, sometimes without).
Sounds lovely!

Ellie auditioned this morning at her singing class, it's her first time so fingers crossed she gets chosen :thumbsup2 They're off into London in a couple of hours so are eating a big lunch now. We're also hoping to get the kitten tomorrow!!!!

----------------------------------------

Good morning. Jim left for his Cub Scout Leader training. Jimmy and I will leave at about 11:00am to go get his hair cut and then go see the Toy Story movies. The weather is crappy. It is cold and raining. IT would have been a better PJ day.

It is supposed to be like this ALL day tomorrow too. So I am guessing no soccer in the morning, so tomorrow can be a pj day. T, I'm thinking the game will be postponed too, just based on the forecast.:confused3 We'll see.

Have a great day all:goodvibes

Dawn- How'd you do today? Are you sore? or sorer?
:sad1:

I feel so much worse today than I have. Mel told me to expect that after the chiropractor messed with my back. I can barely move and my MIL's coming this morning. I'm hoping to take a shower and be really good at directing my family so they can clean up downstairs at least.
Then, Aiden has a soccer game and we're supposed to go out to lunch. I'm not sure I'll be able to go, thought. B has squad practice later and I am SO thankful that she feels well enough to go.

So, the dr. said that it's obvious I had a major car wreck from the trama my back sustained. She also said my pain may be ramping up and not reach it's real level until about 2 weeks out. She said my back and pelvis are all out of alignment and that my right leg was actually shorten than the left. While I had visions of one tall shoe for the rest of my life., she raised the table a bit under my tummy/pelvis and would adjust my hips while the table would drop out from under me. I told her it felt like I was on Tower of Terror, but I don't think she knew what I was talking about. :lmao:

Anyway, then they did this electical stimulation on my muscles and ice therapy. She said my muscles around my spine are contracted up really tight around my spine in an effort to protect it more. So, until she can get them to relax she can't really tell what type of damamge I have. I do have to go for more x-rays on my lower back and neck to make sure there aren't any fractures there since the hospital didn't do those.

That's all I can think of right now and it's uncomfortable to sit at the desk, so I'm going to do ice now. TTYL! Happy Saturday! :goodvibes

CE- How was the SNOW? Been there... HATED it! It's been freezing here all week. I hope yours melted fast!

It never stuck to the ground, just flew heavily in the air all morning. :thumbsup2

We are going to a dinner party tomorrow PM. I'm looking forward to getting together with my newly created Dinner Club (5 couples switch houses, sometimes with kids, sometimes without).

That's very similar to the party at my house tonight. :goodvibes We have six couples, we meet every other month - so only once a year do you have to host, and though we're usually without kids, if someone has a sitter issue, like my friend does tonight, sometimes kids are around. It's fun!

Hugs to all. I have to get to bed if I want to get anything accomplished tomorrow. You probably won't see me until Sunday evening.

Good night and good day!!!

Have a good couple of days, Kristel!

Aw, honey, I'm sorry.

*************************************************
We're getting there this morning. The kids need to leave for the birthday party in about 45 minutes, and I'm hoping D will take them. I have decluttered everything but the kitchen island, which is next, and then a quick vacuum/mop and we should be fine downstairs. Next I'll have to tackle my room, but that's not so bad.

The pork needs to go in the slow cooker here soon, but that's not exactly taxing... :rotfl:If, that is, I remember to plug it in. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Haven't heard of couples retreat--I'll ask Ab if she's heard of it as she's at the movies more.

I kinda hate to say this.....but when I took Ab to the chiropractor last year for neck pain (BTW- the chiropractor is a great guy---brother to my friend)........he said she had neck/back alignment problems and it looked like one leg was a little shorter than the other...........he did the TENS unit (electrical one) and then tried to "align" her----she cried. He said you had to come 3 days a week for at least 6 weeks to see improvement. The next day she could hardly move and we called but they said that was normal....so we went back at least 6 times over the next couple of weeks---she hurt more and more each time (and he said he downgraded the alignment to what he would do with a child).....but she still hurt. She finally said "no more" and it went back to the same level of discomfort she was used to.

BA is having a similar problem with her neck---probably cause she cheers 24/7 tho and her pediciatrician sent her to a physical therapist this time. He sent us for xrays first which were normal. She has the TENS unit done for 20 min and then ultrasound treatment and then mild exercises to teach her posture, etc. She feels GREAT after each treatment and he says just a couple more and she should be resolved.

Just my personal experience.....

Good Morning all!

Jo hope Ellie does well!!

I'm scared to go to a chiropractor,as I too have heard Horror stories!!!

Off to work soon plan on updating my TR tonite !!!

Hi guys! itll take me a while to catch up, or I may just pick up from here.

Dawn- I hope you start feeling better soon!

Off to make my halloween costume. I post pictures when im done!:thumbsup2

forgot to tell you all this story...

so last nite at the homecoming game......around halftime...the announcer says "will a silver van with license plate number AEAxxx please move your car as it is blocking the rescue squad and they have a call"

Oh crap...that's my van...that Ab drove...and I have no idea where she parked.

So I call her to go move her van....she said she went up shyly to the police officer standing near it and said "That's my van"
He told her to remember to park in a parking spot next time...then told her to go ahead and park in a handicap spot for now "since it's late"

Oh to be blonde and 16 again....I would have got a ticket!

She's getting ready for the big Homecoming dance tonite. She just put on fake eyelashes--I've never worn them. I'll post pics when she's done!

Dawn - Sounds like you may need to go to an orthopedic doctor ASAP!

CE - Have fun tonight!:goodvibes

TE - :rotfl2: I would have gotten a ticket too, unless I showed my badge:rolleyes1

Hi Sam - :wave2:

Did I miss anyone:confused3 "wave:

Jimmy got his haircut like a champ:thumbsup2 THen we went to see the Toy Story double feature. Had a good time and now we are home! It's still rainy and carppy and I think it's supposed to be like this all day tomorrow too. We ordered pizza and cheesesteaks for dinner. Jim's sister is here for a couple of hours while his mom and dad go to a party. We are going to play DIsney Scene It in a couple of minutes.

BBL:flower3:

Wow what a night :faint:

David and I had a great time at the cinema, Couples Retreat was fun, and then had a nice meal but as we'd managed to catch the early film we were home early so I logged onto FB. Well I had a message from an old girl school friend saying that another school friend (boy) had posted a photo (my WDW profile photo) on his page in a folder titled Conquests. Underneath each "conquest" was a caption, mine was actually very complimentary saying I had a well toned body, I did something like a barn door (can't say exact words or I'll be chucked off the DIS) and he'd give me another crack anytime. The others he wasn't so nice too. Anyway I was furious, for a start how dare he and second we must have done stuff in his dreams as he's never been anywhere near me :rotfl: After my anger I couldn't stop laughing, for a start I can't remember the last time my body was toned and second well he must be very sad and lonely now. Anyway I PM'd him and demanded he removed it which he did with a public apology and said it was the drugs talking  OMG this boy was so sweet and quiet at school and what is he doing with his life?!?!?

So whilst I was sorting that out I get another PM from the guy I did the UK podcast with saying he's setting up a UK meet and wants me to be there in my role as Moms panellist and give a presentation. So we go from one extreme to another :rotfl2:

And here I am now sitting waiting for the girls to get home from Wembley which should be about 12.30am :faint:

That's great about the presentation. When is it?

Sometime next spring Janet, maybe May which will give me time to decide what I'll say :rotfl:
