Flights for Next August

I have found flights with Virgn for £452 but cant afford to buy 4 tickets until November - does anyone have any idea whether the price will go up drastically if I wait until then? Looking to buy around the beginning of November.

£824 for our dates from MAN.

Only lower prices I see are after 22nd when they change to low season, from about £330 indirect and £430 direct last time I looked.

Don't you have any Virgin miles? not a massive saving but those dates are available with miles and money at £418. For only 2,000miles pp it saves a few £.

it all depends on how fast the lower classes sell. in economy there are several classes that are cheaper than the full economy ticket which works out the most expensive.

Also they sometimes do sales so thats worth bearing in mind

log into your account 1st then on the search page change the option from lowest fare to Miles plus Money, will show any fares available.

No, we've only flown with Virgin once and we didn't join the Frequent Flyer Club (we will next time). I'm ok with £436- I'm just hoping they don't go up!!

if your flight was in the last 6 months you can still join and they can backdate the miles

Interesting- what do you mean by several cheaper classes? How does one get those prices?

As above if it was you latest trip you can still claim your miles. Will save you a little.

Ooh, really? That's good news! Any saving, no matter how small, is welcome. How do I go about backdating them? Sorry for all the questions by the way- the perils of being a DIY newbie!!

economy is split up into about 8 fare classes. All have different restrictions so the cheaper ones go first. A full economy ticket is the Y class and is normally the more flexible and most expensive. the cheap ones you see are the ones where you have to pay charges to change anything etc and are normally not changeable or non refundable.

This is why scheduled airlines prices raise and not fall as the cheaper fare classes sell before the flexible ones

if you search on virgin it will bering up the cheapest they have unless you select fully flexible when it will bring up the y class

Jumping in on ths thread as it's got me thinking!

As someone who's never flown with Virgin before can I join the flyers club thingy before I book my first flight or do I have to book the flight first and then join and they automatically add my "miles" on once I have booked?

Also, what about others in my party. It will be me, DP and 2 children (7/8 yrs old)...do they all need individual flying club membership to be able to use the "miles" gained from this flight on our next one (if there is one...hoping so, but don't tell DP! ) How does that work if one person books and pays for all the flights?

Yes you can register before you fly, when you book you add the flying club account numbers and get credited your miles. No problem one person booking for everyone as I said you add the account numbers for every member.
Only problem you have is under 12's can't join. Its only for 12's and over.

So under 12'a can't earn "miles", but can I used my "miles" to purchase flights for them, or will we have to always pay all money for their seats until they can start earning their own miles?

You can use your miles to buy a flight for under 12's but its a Miles and Money price (same for any age) its possible a child price is cheaper than M&M. All options need to be looked at.
