Just been reading someone tried to collect their car thru this company and told they are no longer accepting vouchers from Yes Carhire and their website is down. Doesn't look good, anyone booked with them?

:scared1: I was going to book our car with them later today! We've used them for years, I wonder what's happened :confused3

We booked with them last week. :worried: I was going to phone them on Monday as it was over 7 days since I made a booking with them for our trip later this month, and we had not yet got our pre-paid rental voucher from them. This morning however we got a letter from them telling us that they were having problems as Alamo has suspended their account facility. They have said that Alamo probably won't honour their pre-paid vouchers and advise us to contact our insurance company and to send some details to their US office to join a list of unsecured creditors. Could not get an answer on the phone from them today. Does not sound good!

Desperately seeking a bright side, at least we found out before we turned up at the rental desk on the 21st. Not sure whether to try to reclaim from credit card company as we've never yet received the voucher or from our travel insurance.

I was reading about someone who actually tried to use the voucher at the desk, ended up paying £300 more than they had prepaid with Yescarhire. Then they have to try claim back when home.

I have never claimed anything on Travel insurance or Credit card but read a lot about claims regarding Great4hotels.com that went in August, everyone seemed to claim from credit cards no problems.

Florimel,
get onto your credit card company immediatly.
You need to inform them and cliam the money back through them to allow you to book with someone else.

As they are talking about ubnsecured creditors, they have gone into administration and you have to inform your CC company as soon as you know else they may not pay out

Thanks for the advice. Contacted the CC card company to get that process rolling. Now got to go and find another car hire company :surfweb:

Many thanks for this post. I booked with them on 27th September and was awaiting confirmation, so no funds have been requested, YET! If they have gone into administration I should be ok, will just have to book a car elsewhere.

You should be OK if they haven't taken it now, could always get intouch with your card provider and make sure nothing is taken.
Sorry to here this its a horrible start. But anyone looking to book a new hire car have a look here.20% sale with netflights. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=33811718#post33811718 :)

I have used Netflights (Airline-Network) for years, I have usually found their deals to be already priced in and not genuine but not checked latest offer. hopefully the 20% is genuine. Never had a problem with them though.

Not sure what you mean by genuine.I ordered a dodge charge with dollar from them priced at £330 with platinium insurance before sale.Paid £283 in sale so it may not be a full 20% but they probably can't discount us taxes and the like.I also got £28.30 from quidco 10% so it's a good deal i thougt.

Had a look and yes they look to have discounted this time. Last year they had an offer on, think it was pay for 5 days get 1 free(or something similar) I priced up a few days before they started the offer then again while the offer was on, prices were the same. Hopefully it was a one off and the sales they offer are genuine which this looks to be.

I had the prices imprinted in my head and they were at a discount rate.Hopefully the people with yescarhire problems can get a good deal and get there money back from the CC company.

Frantically dug out my hire car stuff for next month to check as have frequently used yes in the past as often the cheapest. Fortunately we booked direct with alamo (must have been a cash back offer). As we only ever book a couple of days the CC wouldn't cover us

Wayne, I just priced up the Alamo 10% off site that you gave the link to and the Brits guide site for Alamo and the Brits guide came out quite a bit cheaper for the same car (1 week Intermediate). Both claim to be 10% discount but come out different! It's no wonder my head hurts every time I try to figure out where to get car hire from!

I hope everyone (whatever stage they are at) with yes car hire manage to get themselves sorted out ok!

Got new booking, so back on track now. Thanks to all who replied and gave suggestions for other places to try :thumbsup2.

Using alamo for the convenience of picking up from the Dolphin in middle of our stay, I found the deal with Alamo using Brits discount was cheapest by a small margin.
