What do you think?
Will the computer system crash :confused3 when they go to 180 days out on Oct 27?
Do you think there is any way around it?
Thanks

Hard to say. Wouldn't be suprised if it did.
From all the threads I've seen, it has lots of problems even during "normal" times.

It's definitely possible. And if it does, the only way around it is to use the phone line, which is going to be jammed.

If the online ADRs crash, doesn't that affect the ability to book via the phone as well? Don't the people at the call center have to access the same computer system, too? :confused3

The phone agents apparently don't use the same system. They're not on the same internet page that you use to book reservations at home - they have their own.

I was talking to tech support the other day about the error messages that everyone keeps getting and she seemed to be really naive about what's going to happen on Oct. 27th. To me it just stands to reason that with so many people suddenly able to book on Oct. 27th, there's a slim chance that it ISN'T going to crash. I jokingly said to her, "if I were you, I'd take a sick day on Oct. 27th". She said "No, I'm not in dining so it doesn't affect me"...uh...if the system goes down, I think it does. She said they're not concerned because it used to be at 180 with no issues. I think it's a little different situation this time however. We'll see...

That's good to know. So I guess that's the time when you need the atomic clock to know when to dial the last digit for the phone number at precisely 7 am EST... :scared1: I am still hoping that the system will not crash already at 3 am...

You mean I gotta get up at 2 central to try online? Probably will crash and no one will be around to hear it! :rotfl2:

I have a feeling it will crash at some point on the 27th. Disney is not known for their quality websites and tech support. The system already crashes and errors out that there is too much traffic.

It's pretty sad that a company the size of Disney is unable to have a website that works for the amount of traffic it gets. They REALLY need to fix that up.

Disney lost past ADRs when they did this once before; so, I'm afraid.

I'll be checking all my ressies for December again when this change over happens.

I'm afraid so. If it makes you feel any better, you won't be alone - all the rest of us Disers with vacations in that time period will be up with you! :woohoo:

Yes, and we might get the system to crash in the middle of the night!! :scared1::scared1:

Why does Disney have to do this 2 days before my 90 days mark????

BTW, I called yesterday to ask a question about a tour that we are planning to do and the cast member told me that tours and dining will go to 180 days on October/27. She actually volunteered that information. So I guess it really is official that this will happen!

I have to second that motion! I've been trying to get a straight answer for a week about whether or not I'll actually be able to pull up my reservation and do online dining on 10/27. The on the phone tech person said yes but not until 10/27. The email tech support person said no I have to go through my travel agent and can't use online dining reservations and my own experience tells me they're both wrong. I have been successful in putting in my confirmation number and getting it to pull my reservation for April 2010 BUT ONLY ONCE). The rest of the time I get that annoying error code. I'm hoping to get a CORRECT definitive answer before 3 a.m. Oct. 27th!

Do you even need to give your resort confirmation number if your requested reservations are within 180 days of October 27th?

I think you have to give your reservation number if you're trying to take advantage of the 90+10 (or 180+10). Otherwise, I'm not sure...

Our trip starts on 1/27, so on 10/27 we will be 92 days out. Therefore I am counting on not having to deal with any +10 days problems, as we will be well within the 180 days when everyone can book.

I think only those for whom 10/27 is 180 days out will need to bother with getting to puul up their reservation in the online system in order to book.

But then Disney could do lots of fun changes to their ADR policy and confuse us even further!! :scared1:
