Bringing Mom to WDW for MY bday, Sept '09! Day 4 Part 1..AK and Tusker House 12/30!

I safety pinned my LGMH to my camera bag. I plan to safety pin a few on the back of my baseball caps. I only had 1 person come up to me during the last trip and ask if I was a Diser.....

Did you laminate them at all? And did you use the paint chips from Home Depot? :)

Thanks for the reminder about LGMH! I need to get to Home Depot and quick! The next few days should fly by!

They're definitely going by but I'm starting to freak out the closer the trip gets!! :scared1:

Honestly I forgot about a LGMH and I never saw one the entire trip.

I didn't get as much tripod time as I would have liked. I should have brought it the first night but only had the Gorillapod. I only brought it the last night and then was so tired that I didn't want to stay out after Illuminations to shoot during EMH. Next time I'm going to use my tripod more.

Sounds like you need one of the 50s Prime Time Cafe wait staff to come nag you until you clean your room! :rotfl:

I honestly think I won't be lugging the tripod around a lot either. Wishful thinking on my part. We'll see though! I'll be bringing it our first day to the GF since we're not doing much. It'll be the test!

No hurricanes, no rain for me so far (although we've just missed a few showers)... the weather is gorgeous!!!

Crossing my fingers it stays this way!!!! :)

I don't think I have anything that would identify me from these boards. That would be neat to be recognized, though!

Oh - and that tile floor at the Poly. That there is a thing of beauty!

Isn't the tile floor from the Poly amazing!!? hahaha every time I see it, I cringe!

What are you freaking out about? Seems to me you've got just about everything all set to go.

I know a lot of people rent lockers to store their tripod during the day, but I didn't want to spend the money on it. The problem came in where even though we had the stroller, every time we went into an attraction we had to completely unload the stroller. So, do I really want to carry the tripod on all the attractions? Not really (I was getting sick of the mugs we seemingly had to bring every day), so I left it in the room.

Next time (whenever that is), I think I want to stay one more day so we would have a day off or something, and that would be a day to really pull the tripod out and carry it around.

3 More Days!!!!

Ugh...why am I freaking out and thinking the worst all of a sudden? I'm usually a glass half full type of person but now I keep thinking of everything that can go wrong. :scared1: I'm worried my mom will be miserable with the heat...she won't have a good time...we'll bicker the whole time. :confused3 I don't remember feeling like this at all last time we went in 2007!

Forgot to go to the bank yesterday so I MUST go today after work. Then tomorrow gonna head to dads for dinner and do some laundry. Didn't clean my room yesterday like I wanted to either. Oh well...hopefully today!

Psh... don't worry. It's possible she might hate the heat, not going to lie but my mom is the same way. So we just go through shops when ever we can, esp along Main Street or getting to/from the ToT/RnR area. We go see shows more often and spread them out during the day... there is also no eating at any restaurant outdoors if we can help it :)

Don't worry  most of us go through the close to trip freak out. Do you have a little fan to bring around with you? Bring it! Or buy one, I use a little Coleman on I got at Target for $2 and it works really well and the battery has lasted since our last trip.

Just posted about my mental freak out. :) I know it's dumb stuff! hahaha

Have a magical trip!!

Thank you! :cool1:

Relax! :)

The heat is what it is; if it's too hot, go into a store or an attraction, or go back to the hotel for a little while.

Didn't your mom have a great trip last time? It shouldn't be any different this time.

Mothers and children bicker; it happens. I don't think it's going to ruin the trip; it certainly didn't ruin mine.

Again, relax! Go get some money, clean your room and relax! In 3 days, you're going to be flying to Orlando and riding on DME to WDW. :)

I agree with La crosse...Each park has enough indoor attractions to step into when it's hot.

I, too, try to walk through shops as much as possible. At Animal Kingdom, the hottest park, I try and space the indoor attractions out. FOTLK, Nemo, ITTBAB, Dinosaur, Conservation Station. If it's unbearable at AK, I eat lunch at Pizzafari which has indoor seating. Both the merchandise locations around the Tree of Life offer rest from the heat.

At DHS, my favorite A/C place is One Man's Dream. Because of all the displays you can spend up to an hour in there. It really is quite nice. Voyage of the Little Mermaid is also nice and dark (Nap anyone?)

AT MK for sure hit the trifecta of A/C attractions==Hall of Presidents, COP and Country Bear! You can throw the Tiki Room in there as well.

I hope your worries wash away when you get on the plane and are on your way! But we're here for you if you need us...at least for the next few days!

It's because you have been planning it so carefully and want everything to be perfect.

Destress, relax, plan downtime or away-from-each-other time. Everyone needs a break. :goodvibes

It'll be GRRRRRRRREAT! (oh, wait, wrong character!)

Thank you guys  I know things will be ok... i had a slight brain fart. :)

I printed out almost all of the info that we need for the trip today at work. Bad thing is that I actually don't have a printer at home to print out my boarding passes on Friday (I work from home Fridays so I can't use the fabulous work printers :rolleyes1). My printer broke right before my last trip with my mom (yes in 2007) and I have just been too lazy to buy another one. Apparently I only need it for trips though so I'm ok :rotfl:

So talked to my dad and tomorrow I'm gonna head there for dinner and a load of laundry. I try to see him once a week and it's been two weeks since I last stopped by because of NH. Gotta get in some father daughter time! :lmao:

Also tried going to the bank today and they were CLOSED! :scared1: Actually...the drive through was open but I didn't have any slips or anything and umm... never did drive through! Yes I know...I really should but..I will eventually. :) So instead I gave my mom a task for tomorrow. :rotfl: I'm going to give her a check and she is going to go to her bank and withdraw the money instead, in singles. lol

Also finally took out the suitcases!!! :yay: So slowly things are coming together. I'll try to finish cleaning my room :) And then I'll start taking clothes out and finding stuff I have to iron (I have two pairs of shorts that get all funky after I wash them. After one iron though, they're fine until the next wash so they won't get ruined en route to Disney.

OK...going to watch a little Dancing with the Stars and then start on my room!

OMG, Jen! You're leaving soon!!!!!! You are going to have a blast!!!!! Don't worry! :)

Everything is going to be ok, and you are going to have a wonderful time, as will your mom.

Have a great time, disneygirlinnj! It will all be fine. I worry about similar things. Are my kids going to fight the whole time? My mom and I don't bicker, but she's very passive and somewhat hard of hearing - I always worry that people will think I'm the worst daughter ever when I have to repeat something several times and then yell it at her so she can hear me.

I think many attractions at WDW are designed just to avoid the heat. Not that I don't enjoy them, but I remember spending many happy times in the Tiki Room and the Country Bear Jamboree to escape the heat at Disneyland.

Oh do I know the feeling!! I go from moment to moment...of giddiness to freaking out!! It's completely normal to worry, you have put a lot of yourself into this trip!!! However, with that comes the fact that I know that you are prepared you have planned a great trip and it is going to be magical!!! Once you get there take a deep breath and really enjoy your time!!

I'm a little late to the game on the aforementioned freak-out, but can I just say I know exactly how you feel? I've started freaking out about our trip in December already and it's still almost 3 months away.

We will be bringing my DM with us and all we do is bicker. No huge fights, no blow-ups, no name calling or anything like that---but it's a matter of both of us always wanting to be right and it just leads to non-stop bickering. I'm hoping that being in WDW will take away any desire to fight and we can just relax, be happy, go on rides and eat good food. :thumbsup2 If not, this will definitely be a trip to remember---and I don't mean in a good way. :headache:

You are probably in the same boat with photography stuff too. That's freaking me out as well. What if I forget something, what if my tripod breaks, what if I forget my camera or camera bag on a ride. The list goes on and on---it's a bit insane.

What it all boils down to is that you have worked really hard planning this trip and your expectations are high. I think it's natural to have a bit of a freak out---it's your way of lowering your expectations a bit before you leave, so just in case something goes wrong you won't be crushed.

But don't worry. Nothing will go wrong, you and your Mom will have a FANTASTIC time and it will be better than you remember in 2007. It always is. :cloud9:

Can't wait to hear all about your trip when you get back!! :woohoo:

I'm glad. She was a mess and probably still stoned. We didn't get to hear her vulgarity here on the West Coast from last night.

Loved Kelly Osbourne. Can't believe I'm actually watching the show.

Oh God..she was a mess even when she got eliminated! Glad she got the boot! and totally agree with you... LOVE LOVE LOVE Kelly Osbourne! She did amazing!

OMG, Jen! You're leaving soon!!!!!! You are going to have a blast!!!!! Don't worry! :)

Thanks Amy :) Just last minute jitters lol

Everything is going to be ok, and you are going to have a wonderful time, as will your mom.

Deep breath....ahhhhh...ok I feel a little better :)

Haha oh the Tiki Room was strictly made for hiding from the heat. I'm sure of it. :rotfl:

I think I might have to go do some yoga.. lol
