3/17 Update Day 13 of our 14 day! DISUnplugged PODCAST CRUISE and a rainy week at WDW

Funny story about the Tricky Trolls of Norway: One of the first times we went to WDW as I couple I believe it may have been our second time when I was 5 months pregnant with Aaron and I couldn't ride on many of the rides I was doing a tour of performances. Well, the sign in front of Norway said the Tricky Trolls of Norway and then underneath said the times. I really wanted to see the Tricky Trolls of Norway perform so we sat there for a while until Jason realized that they were talking about the ride Malestrom and the times were for the Norway band. DOH! The Tricky Trolls got me! They sure are tricky!

This is one of my favorite inside jokes between Shanan and me.

She was looking forward to the Tricky Trolls so much that when we were watching the Chinese acrobats (very talented, btw) she kept checking the time to make sure she wouldn't miss it. We ended up missing the last fifteen minutes of the show so we could get over to Norway so we could get good "seats". So we go ahead and get there ten minutes before it starts and of course no-one is around waiting for anything, so we weren't really sure where we should be waiting for the big event. We end up just hovering around the entrance to Norway, so we can oversee the entire pavilion.
It ended up being five minutes past the scheduled time when we started to question the existence of any tricky troll activity in the area (now mind you, I'm going off her plans, I never checked the schedule myself) so I check the schedule. "Uh hun, the tricky trolls you are looking for are in Maelstrom, they're just describing the ride here." and as soon as I said that a couple of musicians came out to perform. Now I'm sure they were great (if subdued, they were a mellow music act) but I don't think Shanan has ever been more bummed out and disappointed in her life. Ok, that's a slight exaggeration but she was looking forward to the trolls all day and I don't think we went on Maelstrom on that visit purely out of spite.

One of the reasons I love Shanan so much is her ability to find fun and excitement over the smaller things in life (even when they don't really exist); makes it a blast to be around her.

I miss you too!!! It is hard to believe it has been almost a week since we saw each other last. I need to get busy on my trip report.
I really wish we lived closer!!!!!

I'm all caught up again! 7 times so far on IASW? I'm curious to find what the final count will be....

I LOVE your Jaime flattie. She has clothing options!!! Looks like it was a great meet. :goodvibes

Epcot all decked out for the F&G festival is so beautiful-you got some great pictures!
Hi Brook! Welcome back!! The Indy meet was very fun :). Thanks for liking my pics that means alot coming from you!

Awwww...you really think I am a blast to be around...even when I have you waiting for trolls that don't dance and sing?
Welcome!

So, we were waiting for the movie to start in Canada and Jason turns to me and says, “Do you really want to go to DATW tonight?” I say, “Yes!” I really want to go to say goodbye to all the marvelous people that I met on the cruise and this will be my last chance to hang out with them one more time and say goodbye to them. Jason was just not wanting to be very social that night but it turned out to be one of the best nights of his life….and mine.

We head out of the O’Canada circle vision show and we see the group of DISers forming for DATW! But where are Jaime and Todd? Oh well…we have the light saber all is not lost! I get in line and order a Labatt Blue and I mingle the best I know how (my go to gal and go to guy aren’t here yet). Sharon (sharonseattle) and her husband and Jason and I chat about Disneyland and pin trading.

The light saber is moving and we are heading into England. A lot of people order Fish and Chips and I am still working on my Labatt. That is ok I think we will be here for a while. Jason and I chat with some other DISers. I think this is about the time we started chatting with Becky and Gavin (becxandgav). We get lost in conversation….and before I know it the light saber is moving on and I haven’t even ordered my next drink yet! I quickly order a Bass the original pale ale and catch up with the group.

There is a long line for…..SLUSHIES! Like we should be surprised! Oh good, this will give me a chance to finish my Bass.
Not quite.

While I was in line for the Orange slushie Todd (but has yet to show up in my pictures) and Jaime show up! Yay!

(Jaime how did you get that beverage in your water bottle past the guards?)

Next stop, Morocco for a photo op!
Image40.jpg

Oh wait for some reason we are by-passing this country...but I see Todd walking by with a pretty drink....I ask him where did you get that? And he says by the dessert counter in the back of the Tangerine Cafe. Woo! I said I am drinking around the world....and drinking around the world does mean that you must get a drink in Morocco. What a better thing to get in the Tangerine Cafe then a Tangerine Daiquiri? YUM! Two girls are behind me in line...I know they are DISers (I met them both briefly on the cruise) and Jason says we should wait for them. We do and it turns out they are Kim (Tickledtink33) and Anna (Aspen37) we will be spending some time with them later on in the night. I am starting to feel a little :upsidedow.

We have some catching up to do we have to find the group! They weren't too far ahead....now it is time for some Sake. I really don't know what to expect with Sake. Don's (dpuck1998) wife Tamara lets me in on the taste and expectations of Sake. She tells me that she has had it before with her clients. We have a quick conversation on the way to the back of the store. I opt for the sparkling sake. Much to my surprise this sparkling sake is very sweet and it actually tastes cold? I don't know if they chill the sparkling sake, but I was expecting it to be very warm. That is all I ever heard about sake is that it is very warm. I really liked the sake I tried!

Next up American Adventure Pavilion and a potty break! I run into Tracy on the way to the bathroom...and I think she is an extremely happy individual or something else is going on? I am feeling it too.
I get in line for a Sam Adams and a pretzel! I need some food in my stomach...we haven't ate anything since Teppan Edo!
2323232327Ffp433523Enu3D32353E5883E.jpg

Ut oh!
2323232327Ffp433683Enu3D32353E5883E.jpg

(5 second rule! I need every bit of this pretzel in my stomach, so I pick it up and eat it!)

2323232327Ffp433593Enu3D32353E5883E.jpg

Italy is up next! YUM! I found out that I LOVE Limencello! Although, I may have loved it because by this point I was starting to feel quite good...and my shot of Limoncello I really couldn't taste any alcohol.

Jason is the designated drink holder...while I finish my Sam Adams.
ry3D480.jpg

In Germany it is all a little hazy....I think I ordered a Reisling (yummy ice wine), but I do remember the pretty German Barmaids!
Maybe it is my lack of pictures in this country that is making me forget!

Next up China
P5150405.jpg

and the award for the best drink of the night.....yes they even beat the Slushies in France!!
The Mango Gingerita

Todd ordered the salt lick....and I tell Jaime to try some of mine she loves it! And orders one so we pose with our drinks ;).

Now....it is time for Illuminations Reflections of Earth.....I never really understood this show....and tonight standing amongst friends....I finally got it!

Todd, Kim, Anna, and I actually caught up to the group in the UK (still can't believe we were late for DATW!)

And the beverage in my bottle - which I admit looks like beer, is actually Crystal Lite iced tea. Boring, but true.

You're never going to let me forget that, are you? Yeah, I was feeling a little less social that night, but obviously that went away very quickly. I'll always be in your debt for making me come to my senses.

As I told Shanan: this night was the third best of my life, with the first two being the birth of our son and our first date (Shanan and me, obviously). No lie; it was that special to me.

I'll be adding a bit more to this part of the TR, as I have a lot of memories Shanan might not have (as you'll find out why a bit later...)

That's Miss Master of the Lightsaber to you!!! ;):rolleyes1

Oh yeah! This picture makes more sense now we were somewhere in the UK!

I was trying to figure out where you took it, I should have just looked at the background....I hope you don't mind that I am stealing your pictures!

Of course, and if there is ever a time in the future when you don't feel like doing something...remember I know what is good for you! :wizard:
I will be looking forward to what you add...and what I forget!

I added some to the chapter above this one :).......

Now we are in the infamous Norway. This is where people get lost and left behind.

Todd has to use the facilities...and for some reason asks Jaime to hold his Tiara?
Copyof100_3605.jpg

I think it has magical powers...
P5150410.jpg

Up until this point we were all moving around as a large group I really don't know what happened...but someone said that they wanted to ride Maelstrom....now remember my story about Maelstrom and the Tricky Trolls? I have to ride this!! I get sooo excited, that I get to see the Tricky Trolls!!!!

In line I am overcome with emotion and I take out my Bambi Friendship Pin and pin it to Jaime's shirt. Todd comes behind and pins a Kermit pin on her!
Copyof100_3606.jpg

This was the longest wait I ever had for Maelstrom...but the shortest wait ever because of the company I had! Picture of us in the long line!
2323232327Ffp433683Enu3D32353E58-1.jpg

Coming out of the ride we get our picture taken with a Tricky Troll....I don't know what happened to most of our group?!? Maybe they didn't want to be in a picture with a Tricky Troll?
4290_111910195419_502005419_3218999.jpg

Gotta get my drink for Norway, yum a Viking Coffee and some School bread...I didn't care for the bread....but the coffee! Delish!
P5150418.jpg

We move on to Mexico....and I am thinking we will see the light saber but alas they are gone :(. I never did get a chance to say goodbye. Well, at least I still have these 7 to hang out with! Let us ride another ride....oh wait....let's pause for the Mexican...er a Tiara Dance.
Copyof100_3607.jpg

Our favorite picture from the night. Everyone is so happy....but no one can remember why we were so happy! Maybe, it had to do with us being in Disney and finding friends that had those same Disney bones in their body.

Us...on The Gran Fiesta Tour
2323232327Ffp433463Enu3D32353E5883E.jpg

We still have to get drinks for our last country! And what else to get but the Fiesta Margarita!!
I just realized that Todd and I were the only ones to get a drink in every country and actually make it drinking around the world! This is a reason to celebrate!

You didn't show the pic of Rob with the pretzel bigger than his head! I miss that school bread a lot, but I doubt it would taste as good outside the World.

Ok, I'm going to back-track a bit:

I think we were approaching Morocco when I got a call from my brother Jordan, just to wish me a happy birthday. I back away from the group a bit so I could hear him better and have a bit more privacy.
I only had a couple drinks (I didn't have that many at all for DATW, something I need to rectify next time) but I guess he could tell I had been drinking, and I told him what we were doing. He knew we were at WDW with a group, but didn't understand it was nothing like a tour group. He said he was happy that I was having a good time and am more out-going now than I use to be.
The call was short but after I hung up I just stood there for a while watching Shanan talk and have fun with some of our "new" friends (I put new in quotes because we already knew them all pretty much, just never met in person). Jordan was right, I never had any real desire to have friends; I had my two brothers and that's all I really needed. When we all got older and went our separate ways I never really connected with anyone else.
Then I met Shanan.
Then I found the DIS.
Now don't get me wrong, I've had acquaintances and people to do stuff with, but I wouldn't have called any of them "friends" as I never really let them in and show the real me. This whole trip I had no problems on opening up and just being myself, which was so unlike me up until this point.
I know it sounds really corny, but the vast majority of DISers are people I can connect with, and not really because they share the same love of Disney. They share a very similar mentality to mine, and it's hard to explain. I'm guessing if you are reading this TR you have some idea of what I'm talking about.
Just to complete my "Jason... this is your life" moment my mom comes by pushing our son Aaron in the stroller. We just wave (Shanan doesn't see them go by), as she's having fun being Nana, and right now Shanan and I are having fun being with our friends.
I went back to the group and mingled for a bit before we headed further around world showcase, where the night became even more surreal... but more about that later (or sooner, as Shanan has already gotten to some of what I'm talking about).

Ok, I really didn't mean for that to be this long, sorry I bored everyone!

Not boring at all, Jason - I love hearing about that night from other people's perspectives - I know what I was feeling, but I love that you hung back and watched Shanan with her friends - just taking it in... very cool night, all around!

What a hilarious time you all have had together! and Jason - I can totally relate to you as I am pretty shy when it comes to group settings and making friends (my only friend for the past couple years who I took to WDW in Feb 2008 has not been speaking with me for over a year now and it took alot on her part to get me to put myself out there to accept having a friend. My whole world is my 5 kids and grandson but after reading what a great time you all have on your trips with fellow Disers, you have convinced me it's time to break out of my shell and try to meet up with Disers on future trips. So thank you and Shanan for giving me the courage!)

Shanan - Love Jamie's steek (is that what you all called it?) - what a great way to get pics of a group without having to hold the camera with your hand! Is that something she invented or can you actually purchase it?

One of the reasons I love Shanan so much is her ability to find fun and excitement over the smaller things in life (even when they don't really exist); makes it a blast to be around her.

Awwwwww! That is so sweet! :lovestruc

And thank you for sharing your "this is your life" moment. I totally understand...I am so glad you found some real friends that you can be completely yourself with-and they love you for it!!! :thumbsup2

Shanan - Loving the updates - I can't believe you ate the pretzel off the ground! :rotfl:

You didn't bore anyone! That is some fun stuff! I remember being quite embarrassed when you told me Aaron walked by! I don't want him to see me like that!

Am I still your Mistress?

That is awesome that I have given you the courage! And if we ever cross paths you better believe that I am going to give you a huge  You can purchase the steeek! It is called an X-Shot! A lot of people on PCC 1.0 have bought one since Jaime made it famous!

Awwwwww! That is so sweet! :lovestruc

I am glad he found some friends too! Yeah I am crazy like that! It won't kill me...it will just make me stronger! Love the new pictures in your signature!

I apologize! This has been a crazy busy week for me! My sister had two volleyball games this week (tonight and Tuesday night) and I started taking Aaron to Story Tots (storytime at the library on Wednesday nights for 2-3 year olds). And I am sure some of you are aware we became DVC owners on Saturday! I hope to get a chapter or two up tomorrow! Thanks for sticking around! We still have 6 days of this vacation left to go! :scared1:

I don't know how or why it came up...I think maybe because Todd had never rode Soarin' before. But there is still time I believe it is somewhere around 11pm and Epcot has the EMH hours so it will be open til midnight tonight. Jason and I had 3 Soarin Fast Passes in our pocket so we gave one to Rob and some of others had Soarin fast passes too. Great minds think alike! We all head over to the Land!

Why Jason let me be in charge of taking pictures, I do not know!
Copyof100_3611.jpg

We are almost to the land pavilion and I have no idea why or how or what is going on and then I realize! Todd is proposing to Jaime! :scared1:

Inside The Land I take a picture of the happy couple! And I get to be maid of honor!

Copyof100_3619.jpg

Ummmmm......
Copyof100_3620.jpg

We asked for front row! Meaning no feet dangling in the picture! I never rode front row before I was beyond excited! You know what else is so cool about these people? They know where all the Hidden Mickey's are! Sitting in the front row, breathing in the pine, citrus, sea, discovering new Hidden Mickeys and being with 7 friends you didn't even know you had until this very moment! :grouphug: We don't want to leave!

We all ride on Spaceship Earth

and part ways....Jaime is going home tomorrow. Todd, Anna, Kim and Rob? Are going to be at HS at rope drop tomorrow morning, Jason, Aaron, Nana and I plan on doing HS tomorrow too! So we will see them there.

We all exchange hugs! Anna gives a FANTASTIC hug! I want another one soon!

We part from them and Jaime is left with Jason and I as we head towards our bus. I really don't remember much here other than feeling completely changed and realizing that I have found some great friends! I remember telling Jaime that I love her and giving her some more hugs! If it wasn't for Jaime that 1st day on Fun on a Bus to port and saving a seat for Jason and I and talking to us like we have known each other for years...and sitting again with us all the times we were together...I don't know if I would have been able to relax and have fun and meet so many great people...and JUST PLAIN BE MYSELF! I owe it all to you Jaime! Thanks so much for helping me realize that I don't have to feel insecure and to just be myself, PEOPLE WILL LIKE ME!

Pre-Trip Plans:
Today is Hollywood Studios w/ Aaron (our son) and Nana (Jason's Mom)

The hours are 8 am (EMH)- 7pm

Must Do's since Aaron will be with us:
TSMM
Playhouse Disney (we took Aaron to this when he was 18 months, but it was before he really watched all the shows. Now every morning he watches Playhouse Disney...so I think he will really LOVE this show)
Meet the characters from Pixar's Cars
Honey I Shrunk the Audience play area (we played here last time and Aaron enjoyed it)

We have an 11:30 am reservation for Sci-Fi Drive In. We ate here on our last trip with Aaron and really enjoyed it, unfortunately it was on Nana's last day on our last trip so she didn't get to go.....we are going back there for her to try it, and Jason really had a good time with Aaron here.

Maybe we will see the Lights Motor Action (have yet to see this)
and Block Party Bash (saw this last time wasn't impressed)
Don't know if there will be a cool Wall-E character interaction yet...there really wasn't last time...there was a cool place for a meet and greet with Wall-E but I never did see him

Then this evening we have an ADR at 6:20 pm for Chef Mickey's. We really enjoyed the characters the last time, although Aaron was pretty frightened by Minnie Mouse

I know I really haven't done this yet, as much as I would have liked to....but I actually came up with the design on Aaron's shirt today! I was inspired by a Irish themed shirt that said That's It I am going to Nana's with shamrocks on it.

Well, as you can imagine Jason I were late for rope drop at DHS, just by a little bit. We didn't end up seeing anyone from last night early on in the day...that might change later.

.

We head over to TSMM to get our first round of fast passes! Guess who is over at the fast pass machines also getting her fast pass? It is Nana! Yay! She made it to the park pretty early today! The Stand-by line for TSMM is pretty long so we debate on what to do. None of the shows really don't start until later so we decide to head over and do The Great Movie Ride, since the last time we were here the ride vehicles actually stopped in the temple room and we had to get out of the ride vehicles and walk through the ride to exit. One of these days I need to get all my videos on to YouTube as I was taping the entire ride when that happened, so I continued to tape it as we were walking through the sets backwards...kinda interesting.

Ok so anyway! I was worried about the Alien scene...but luckily right when we got into that section we distracted Aaron with the holy grail....AKA the iPod Touch. Aaron seemed to really enjoy the whole shoot out scene...I was also a little worried with that one. I don't know if he really understood what was going on.

It was close to 9:30 so we head over to Playhouse Disney Live! and catch the 9:30 show! Aaron LOVED this!! He loved the bubbles and the leaves and all of his favorite characters, and of course the music! (that reminds me in less than a month we are taking Aaron to his 1st concert, The Imagination Movers!)

Aaron intently watching...(he looks so weird with a binkie)

The Stage!

The show is over and it is time to use our TSMM fast passes! This ride never gets old! (we just bought this game for the Wii and it sure brings us back...we just need to get misters and air compressors) On the way out we grab more fastpasses!

It is getting close to our 11:20 ADR at Sci-Fi, but I think we can squeeze one more thing in so we catch Muppetvision!! Aaron really enjoys this movie, he even laughed at some of the movie! I am sure glad he does, because Mama and Dada really enjoy this movie too!

Time for lunch!

Bad DISer no food porn.....what was I thinking! Well, I probably was thinking (it is just a hamburger and a shake!)

After lunch we head over to catch the new show The American Idol Experience. I am really interested into seeing how this show is and Aaron is a big fan of American Idol, so this should be fun! Throughout the day we were seeing people by Sci-Fi being interviewed in front of the American Idol back drop.

We make it into the 1:00 show. We get seats right up front! I turn to my right and who do I see? Emiel, Yvette, Tonya and Shelly! Hi Guys!! I really didn't get to talk to any of them on the cruise that much...we said Hi and Bye and we went on our separate ways.

The American Idol show is great! Aaron sang ALOT! Oh oh oh wo wo! I am surprised he didn't turn to me and ask for popcorn (we always have a bag of popcorn when we watch at home). Aaron was just enthralled with all the lights and the big screens and the music! It was awesome to watch him watch the show.....I really thought that Jason would not care for it at all (he doesn't like the real American Idol)....but I was shocked to find out after the show, that he would like to catch a finale show before we leave WDW!

We rode TSMM again and headed over to the Honey I shrunk the kids play area. We also walked around the back lot.

Jason and I were going to ride Tower of Terror while Aaron played at the play area, but we decided against it and came back. It was a good thing we did because Aaron was hot and kinda cranky, Dada and Nana were too.

So Nana and Dada took a bus over to the Poly to enjoy the beach and get a Dole Whip while I take Aaron to the Animation Academy! Yeah, I know what you are thinking! You are going to take a just over two year old into the quiet drawing class and expect him to be quiet?

Surprisingly he was AWESOME! Well, not really surprisingly....because he is a really good kid. He looked up at me a few times all happy and having fun and just to say Momma! And I had to tell him to shhhh....but he didn't understand, that I just wanted him to talk quieter. Poor little kid.
We learned how to draw Tinkerbell. Or, I shall say Aaron learned how to draw Tinkerbell. Aaron held the pencil for the whole class, I just guided his hand when the teacher told us to draw the certain lines. It turned out pretty neat I think!

Time to go meet Nana and Dada at the Poly Beach....oh wait....a Photopass Photographer! We have really been not using our PP card as much as we should have this trip! It was raining off and on at this point, the torrential rain is about to start!

It was a fun show which surprised me a little bit. I was expecting it to be really lame. We were sitting up really close and could see the wigs on the judges so next time I want to sit a little further back. :lmao:
