Would someone be able to explain in plain english whats involved in miles & money with virgin, I have nearly 6000 flying club miles through their shopping site, how do they work and what do you do?

Many thanks

Log into your account, at bottom of search panal there is option to change from lowest fare to Miles and money. Do a search with lowest fare then do a search miles and money to see if there are any fares available and how much the savings are.

For eg. Nov 9th~21st is showing £444 lowest far but with Miles and Money it brings it down to £383 +2,000 miles. Not a great saving, some will think its worth doing others wont, just remember if you paid the full price you claim 4,224 miles (on this date, varies with booking codes) by booking M&M you can't claim the 4,224 and you pay 2,000 so in effect its costing you 6,224 miles to save £61.

We used to always save around £200/ticket in school hols but don't seem to see these kind of savings anymore.

Hope you followed that.:goodvibes

thanks wayne will have a look and try it out.

We are checking most days current M&M prices with a view to booking soon for next August.
I must admit I am slightly dissapointed in how little the difference appears to be between full price and the M&M one, it is still £1081 each for the 3 of us for next August, the reduction isn't as much as we thought it might be.

had a quick look at some dates and the saving was 60 quid per person if i took money and miles fare against the lowest fare for same dates, and i see what your saying about costing you miles to save cash, but the if flying club miles being accumulated for no other reason then at least its a saving, do you think thats right?

Have never flown with virgin and I have started doing business shopping through their flying club site and gaining flying club miles so it seems a waste not to use them as we dont go every year to orlando, and its not finalised that we are going next year yet.

sorry another question if I had 8000 miles enough for the 4 of us , do we need to have seperate flying club accounts with 2000 in each one to get the discount or is it ok to use the 8000 of the total cost?

sorry if that sounds daft.

If you are happy with the fare then yes I would do it to save £60 but just remember there is always a chance the lowest fare might fall to below Miles and Money fare. This happened to us going to LAX, paid about £375 + 2,000miles few weeks later a sale on lowest fare dropped to just under £350 and I could have claimed about 10,000 miles pp.
You can never win buying flights.

You can buy the 4 flights on your account, I have bought flights on my account for all of us plus DMIL when she went with us and last Easter DS friend when he came.
