vegas pics

why don't you visit the CA and the West trip reports board ? Lots of photo goodness there.......

I just found this TR. So wish I would have found it before. I just got back from Vegas this Monday. We stayed at Excalibur, and went by most of the areas you visited. (and we didn't even notice that little house in the moat area!) We were going to eat at Dick's, but the line was so long. I had no idea it was the way you described it. Would have been a lot of fun! We did get a few slushies at the walkup bar though. Had I seen your food pics of Earls, that would have been a stop also. We walked right by it. We ate at House of Blues. I think it was in Luxor. It looks so cool compared to the one in Anaheim. Would have loved to have some of their benches!

We probably wouldn't stay at Excalibur again...too smokey. But I agree, the Venetian and Mandalay Bay smelled soooo good inside!

And the lion exhibit was the same for us. Gobs of people and lions just laying there doing nothing!

Thanks for posting the pictures! Looks like a great trip!

Just got in at 1:00 this morning from Vegas.....

We had a great time. It was 3 moms, 4 21 year olds and 1 25 year old celebrating their birthdays.

The moms were celebrating their 50ths. We stayed at Planet Hollywood. After researching we thought this hotel would be a good choice since it was hip enough for the girls and nice enough for the moms.

Hubby and I have stayed at the Wynn and Bellagio and I do like those hotels better for us, but for the group we had Planet Hollywood was great.

The room was spacious (though no view other than overlooking a roof) but we didn't care. A few things I did not like about the room...there was hardly any lighting and it always felt dark. They had a huge mirror in the room but no outlets so the only usable mirror for drying hair was in the bathroom and with me and my two DD's getting ready at the same time make it difficult. Also, the shower had a clear door so again, if someone was taking a shower you couldn't really use the rest of the bathroom until they were done.

Casino was nice....could smell smoke but not bad at all. We signed up for the A List and got the card and discount book which saved up money on drinks and meals at the hotel. We ate at Koi, Yolos Mexican Grill, the Daily Planet and Hawaiian Tropic Zone at the hotel. The only meal we did not enjoy was Hawaiian Tropic Zone..food was so so. We ate at Starbucks (saw Holly from Girls Next Door and the new Peepshow show at PH. She was ahead of us online in Starbucks) for breakfast.

We saw Thunder from Down Under at Excaliber and Le Reve at the Wynn. Le Reve was awesome.

The moms had lunch one day at the Bellagio Cafe at the Bellagio (right across the street from PH) and we enjoyed it very much.

Loved the location of Planet Hollywood. Staff was very pleasant. We booked a cabana by the pool one day (got a discount because the overhead fan was not working. We paid $100 for the day instead of $150 so it was worth it. We had fresh fruit and soda and water all day, nice comfy chairs, flat screen TV, mini fridge and SHADE WHEN WE NEEDED IT. The price of the cabanas jump to $250 for the day on weekends (not worth it to me). We were 3 mom splitting it so we went for the $100 that one day.

We got in to Vegas at midnight on Wednesday and were able to check in with no lines at the hotel, the next morning the lines were incredible!

We left the hotel at 1:30 or a 3:45 flight back to New York. All went well.

A big pain was that they are tearing up Las Vegas Blvd. and some side streets so every cab ride took forever and cost a ton.

Weather was hot, hot, hot but felt better than this soupy humidity here in NY.

Any specific questions let me know.:cool1:

Thanks! Believe it or not, I go to Vegas more often than I go to Disneyland! I love Vegas! It's crazy hot in July, but I was just there in June and September, June was pretty hot (but great pool weather) and September was much cooler (but still great pool weather). I think I have just as many Vegas pics as I do DLR pics!
