Im very interested in buying an I pod touch but

should I wait till we get to USA will it be any cheaper or should I just go ahead and buy it here?

Are they just charged through USB like all other I pods so I wont have trouble with voltage etc?

Can I get all the same applications on a I pod touch as I can an I phone ?

thanks for any help

DW has the Touch so knows a lot more about it than me, but I will try to answer what I know.
It is rechargeable through USB, but you can also buy plenty of docking stations that also charge it up.
One of the best sites we have found for this sort of thing is Here
If you buy one of the newest Touches then it will be one of the second generation so, as I understand it, all the apps should work.
As for the cost I have never really seen much of a price difference between the UK and Florida for this sort of thing so I would be tempted to buy before you fly.

I would definitely buy before you fly, get the new 2nd generation touch and pre-load it with all the applications before you leave :)

I'd say it depends on the exchange rate really! I planned to buy an iPod touch in Vegas last December but with the exchange rate being poor there wasn't much of a saving to be had!

However, I bought my current iPod in New York in 2006 and I got it ALOT cheaper than over here at the time so it can work both ways!!

Check some American prices on like Amazon, Best Buy, etc. and see what it works out with the current exchange and compare it to see if there's a saving or not!

With Apple you DO get a Worldwide warranty so taking it out of the US you will still be covered :thumbsup2

Like someone pointed out though, means you'll have to wait till your home to use it!!

Just to add that DW is looking to upgrade her 32gb Touch and has seen that they are now selling the 64gb for the same price she paid for her 32gb. :thumbsup2

We bought two in Feb at the Apple store in the Florida mall. As we got 2$ to the £, we saved quite a bit.
Can't remember what my kids look like without headphones.

Thanks for every ones replies I think I may buy one this weekend and load it up :D how exciting

I read on a different forum there is a hidden mickey app :)

::yes:: The new 3rd Generation Touches are a lot cheaper than the second generation. I'm tempted to update my 1st Generation to get the built-in speaker but I'm managing to talk myself out of it for now (just). ;)

So I have been searching the APP store its getting me very excited :D

there are alot of dinsey and universal apps, obv the wait times are more designed towards the iphone than the touch. def read the reviews first, as there are a few apps that are over priced for what they are

Just thought that I would let you know, as I have been looking into the prices now they have brought out the third generation and I am looking to upgrade from an original Nano. The cheapest that I have been able to find it is through Dixons tax free shop at the airport. I believe that you can pre-order it before you fly though it will mean that you will not have it pre loaded for the Hols.
Currently They are showing the 64GB for £260 which seems to be £35 cheaper than elsewhere. Hope that helps.

if u r going to take a laptop u could take it with u on the flight and update it on the plane hehe a little bit oer the top but its an idea

I dont know if i would buy the 64GB just because it is a bit expensive

That is a good price. DW is looking for one so I might point her in that direction.

I agree that it may seem expensive - but it is the same price, or cheaper looking at Daisychains post, than the 32GB was when that was released.
And when you see that Argos are doing the 32GB for £229 its not that much more to go for the bigger option.

The best deal with the present exchange rate is Dixons duty free at the airport.
